Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many different shortcuts are there (pairs of pots) throughout Gruntilda's Lair?

Answer: Four

The "first" shortcut is the pink pots. One is set in an antichamber off the room that contains the puzzles for Treasure Trove Cove and Clanker's Cavern. The other end is in the large room with a statue of Gruntilda's head in it (the room with the Freezeezy Peak entrance).

The Green shortcut takes you from the large room, mentioned above, and takes you near the entrance to Rusty Bucket Bay. It's actually not a very large distance to travel on your own (two rooms away), but it saves you from swimming so much.

The next shortcut, and the one that takes you farthest, is the orange pot. One is in a small room near the entrances to both Treasure Trove Cove, and Clanker's Cavern, as well as the Click Clock Wood puzzle. The other end is located in a semi-hidden tunnel in the area that has Click Clock Wood's entrance.

The last pot, yellow pot, is a short jump that takes you from the beginning of Grunty's Furnace Fun to a location very near the top of the lair.
2. Which of the following is not a type of grunt found in Gruntilda's Lair?

Answer: Green

Grunts are orange-ish colour skinned beings that wander though Gruntilda's lair. The easiest type of grunt wears a red cape. They're seen early on in the game, and can be taken out extremely easily. The next level of grunt is the blue grunts. They're more resilient and take two roll attacks to defeat.

The final type of grunt is the Black grunt. There are only two in the lair, near the very end of the game. Their skin also takes on a grey tone. They take three roll attacks to defeat.
3. Do you need to know how to use Turbo Trainers in order to complete Bubblegloop Swamp?

Answer: No

Although Turbo Trainers are not necessary, they can greatly aid you in getting the Jiggy from Mr. Vile (the crocodile). They let you become faster when trying to out-eat Mr. Vile, allowing you to just run in and snatch yumblies away from him.
4. In what world can Grille Chompas (the large green slugs that hide in holes in walls) NOT be found?

Answer: Bubblegloop Swamp

Grille Chompas are first introduced in Clanker's Cavern. They surround the ring of pipes around the world start. In Mad Monster Mansion, they are found at the bottom of Logo (the toilet). Grille Chompas can be found all over the warehouses of Rusty Bucket Bay (as well as a few on the ship). There are also Grille Chompas guarding the entrance to Rusty Bucket Bay.

Click Clock Wood has its own variation of Grille Chompas in the form of birds called Big Cluckers that hide in holes around the giant tree. Mad Monster Mansion is also littered with Portrait Chompas, a skeletal version of Grille Chompas found in the pictures lining the rooms of the mansion.
5. What colour is the blue Jinjo's body?

Answer: Orange

The Pink, Orange, and Yellow Jinjos each have pink, orange, and yellow bodies, respectively. However, the Green Jinjo has a white body, and the Blue Jinjo has an orange body. This is changed in "Banjo-Tooie", in which there are no contrasting colours.
6. What is a unique property of Mumbo's transformations?

Answer: They are immune to harmful substances

All transformations are immune to harmful substances. The alligator is immune to the piranha infested water, the walrus is immune to the frigid cold waters, and the pumpkin is immune to the poisonous waters around Mad Monster Mansion. The termite does not need to worry about air underwater, and the bee can walk through thorn bushes.

Only two of the five transformations have unique abilities: the alligator can attack, and the bee can fly. Otherwise, the transformations are pretty bland. They can fit into small spaces. and perform certain tasks in order to acquire a Jiggy. The transformations are not immune to damage; they can be hurt by enemies the same way Banjo normally is.

All the transformations speak the same language. In "Banjo-Tooie", the stoney from the first world is required to interpret other stone figures.
7. In order to complete Freezeezy Peak, do you need to know how to use the Turbo Trainers?

Answer: Yes

All worlds, assuming you play through each world chronologically, and learn all moves in each world, can be completed in a single session (you do not have to leave the world). You can acquire all ten Jiggies, all hundred notes, and both hollow honeycomb pieces.

The exception is Freezeezy Peak, in which you can get everything except a single Jiggy. You need to travel to Gobi's Valley and learn to use the Turbo Trainers and then return to Freezeezy Peak and race Boggy a second time to get the last Jiggy.
8. Who is not pictured in the dining room in Mad Monster Mansion?

Answer: Captain Blackeye

There are seven portraits in all around the dinning table. On one side is Gruntilda's Broomstick, Mumbo Jumbo, and Klungo, and on the other is the lair, Dingpot, and Brentilda. Mounted behind the head of the table is a portrait of Gruntilda herself.

Captain Blackeye has portraits elsewhere in the mansion, including the master bedroom. You can find Captain Blackeye in Jolly Roger's Lagoon in "Banjo-Tooie".
9. The Mad Monster Mansion and Rusty Bucket Bay puzzles are in the same area.

Answer: True

This was a bit of a mean question. The Mad Monster Mansion is in a large cavern filled with water, while the Rusty Bucket Bay puzzle is off in a small, metallic alcove. However, in the Rusty Bucket Bay area, you can walk down a flooded path. The tunnel will come to a grate, but beyond it, you can clearly see the Mad Monster Mansion puzzle. You can also see the grate from the Mad Monster Mansion side.

This means that they are in the same area (not in areas separated by "black doors" that connect areas). If you go back to the Mad Monster Mansion world entry area, and lowere the water level to level one, and then go visit the grate again, you will not be submerged and will be able to break it.
10. In Rusty Bucket Bay, where are all the Jinjos found?

Answer: Around the edge of the map

In Rusty Bucket Bay, there is one Jinjo is each corner and the fifth is along the far side from the start point.

The Yellow is in the close corner to the left of the start pad on a bouy guarded by Snacker.

The Green Jinjo is on the far corner to the left on a barrel floating in a pool of acid.

The Blue Jinjo is located directly across the harbour from the start pad, in a crate between the two cranes.

The Orange Jinjo is on a ledge in the far right corner from the start pad, guarded by a series of Grille Chompas.

The last Jinjo (although I recommend you don't get this one last), is underwater in the close right corner, under a grated area (you can easily see it below). The water sucks away your air when swimming on the surface and twice as fast underwater. Getting a Jiggy down there as well as a Jinjo would be a real pain.
11. On the back of the Rusty Bucket, what is shown on the flag?

Answer: The Rare logo

Not too much special here. It's the Rare logo on a small blue flag being flown off the end of the Rusty Bucket (also known as the H.M.S. Gruntilda). Along the stern of the ship, along with its name, The Rusty Bucket, it says Twycross, England.
12. In Click Clock Wood, is there a Jinjo in every season?

Answer: Yes

In Click Clock Wood there is at least one Jinjo in every season (the exception being Spring). Each Jinjo goes with the season that associates with its colour. The Spring Jinjo is the green one. The Summer Jinjo is yellow, the Autumn Jinjo is orange, and the Winter Jinjo is blue. Pink resides in Spring in the Zubba Nest.
13. Which of the following is not a timed challenge in Grunty's Furnace Fun?

Answer: Ticker's Tower

The challenges in Grunty's Furnace Fun are the mini games from the game, sometimes with a twist, and usually with a tighter time-schedule. There never was originally a time limit on repeating Tip-Tup's song, or defeating the Zubbas or the Boom Box. The games with a time limit, like the Sand castle floor, or Tumbler's challenge (Mad Monster Mansion) have been decreased, and in both cases, you have to spell "Banjo-Kazooie" backwards.

You can also be hurt in the timed mini games (such as Zubbas' nest), that will add onto the damage you already received from answering questions incorrectly.
14. What happens when you complete the last puzzle in the game?

Answer: You get red life

After you complete the Gruntilda picture, the largest in the game at sixteen Jiggies, you should have six left (assuming you got all one hundred Jiggies in the game). In the room with Dingpot, there are four doors. Three devoted to refilling your eggs and feathers.

The last door, and the most expensive in the game at 882 notes required, opens up to reveal a four-piece puzzle. Complete it and your normally yellow energy bar will be covered by an extra, red layer of health (doubling your max health).

You will probably have already doubled your max eggs and feathers by having found the Cheato books.
15. How many stages are there to the fight with Gruntilda?

Answer: Five

The final confrontation with Gruntilda is broken up into five sections. In the first section, she will swoop down at you on her broom. Dodge her until she stalls. When she does, attack her.

Eventually, she'll run off and rest off the edge of the tower where you cannot hit her directly. She'll launch fireballs at you for a while, during which you just have to hide. When she pauses, jump out and shoot eggs at her. This is a little trickier than the first stage, and may take a while.

The next stage, Bottles will give you a flying pad. You have to fly around and Beak Bomb Gruntilda a few times. Eventually, she'll have had enough and you'll be force back to the ground.

Next comes the Jinjos. In the four corners will be four Jinjo statues. Gruntilda will rest off the edge of the battlefield again, while you try to put three eggs into each of the holes at the bottom of the Jinjo statues. Once done, the giant Jinjos will let their rocky coverings fall off and attack Gruntilda.

The last stage involves an even larger statue of a Jinjo in the center of the arena, with four holes on its base. Put three eggs in each hole, while protecting yourself from Gruntilda's incessant fireballs. The Jinjonator will come to life and deal the final whopping blows to Gruntilda.

Once you've beaten the witch, a cinematic showing all the enemies in the game will play. After, there'll be a seen of Banjo, Kazooie, and Mumbo all on a beach. Mumbo will have a few pictures with him of "the new game". He wont show you until you have collected every single Jiggy. If you haven't collected all the Jiggies, you can just Jump into Dingpot once you have to view the final cut scene.

The pictures are actually of "Banjo-Kazooie" of a raised Sharkfood Island, an open tomb in Gobi's Valley, and of the Ice Key being accessible. To actually get these items (Stop 'n' Swap" items) you have to put into long code phrases in the sand castle floor. There are a total of six eggs and the Ice Key that can be found.
