"Maple Story" Music Trivia Quiz

This quiz is about the music you'll hear in the PC game "Maple Story" (Global version), as well as where you'll hear them. I used a program called Jr. Boogie (created by Rick from Sleepywood Forums) to extract the files.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you're hearing "Shop BGM", where are you?

Answer: Cash Shop

"Shopbgm.mp3" is the sound file for the Cash Shop. To enter the Cash Shop in the game, simply click the "Cash Shop" icon on the bottom right... simple, eh? The Cash Shop is a place where users can customize their characters using NX Cash purchased from the "Maple Story" website.
2. You're fighting Alishar in the Ludibrium Party Quest. Although you'll probably be concentrating more on the powerful boss monster, you might find that the background music is quite fitting for such a dangerous battle. What song plays in the background while you battle Alishar?

Answer: "They Menacing You"

I don't explain the poor grammar on some of the song titles, but the filename for the battle with Alishar is "TheyMenacingYou.mp3". The dark, urgent tone adaquately illustrates the struggle many players have against Alishar. If you're hearing "The Way Grotesque", you're fighting Thanatos. If you're hearing "Welcome to the Hell", you're fighting Zakum. Compared to these, Alishar seems like a pushover.
3. It looks like you've wandered right into a "Nightmare"! Don't be intimidated by the name of the background music, just go and make your job advancement. What class will you become if you make a job advancement in this area?

Answer: Warrior

"Nightmare" is the name of the background music for Perion, the Warrior town. The surrounding areas of Perion also use this music. If you're in Ellinia, you'll hear "When the Morning Comes" while you become a Magician. "Floral Life" is heard in Henesys where you become a Bowman. If you're in Kerning City to become a Thief, you'll be hearing "Bad Guys".
4. No matter where you are in Eos Tower, you're in a high place. But if you're hearing "High Enough", which of these floors of Eos Tower will you NOT be on?

Answer: 45th Floor

"High Enough" is played on the outer floors of Eos Tower. When you're inside, you'll hear "Funny Time Maker". The lowest you can be if you hear "High Enough" is the 6th Floor. Interestingly enough, in both Eos and Orbis Tower, you start at the top floor and work your way down.

At the bottom of Eos Tower is Omega Sector. At the bottom of Orbis Tower is both Aqua Road and El Nath (Aqua Road is past the basement of Orbis Tower).
5. The music "Flying in a Blue Dream" can quickly change to "Arab Pirate" when Crimson Balrog arrives.

Answer: False

"Flying in a Blue Dream" is played only on the Sky Train when traveling from Orbis to Ludibrium or vice versa. The boat from Ellinia to Orbis (or vice versa) plays the song "Upon the Sky". Since Crimson Balrog only attacks the boat and not the train, only "Upon the Sky" can change into "Arab Pirate".

As an interesting fact, Crimson Balrog is the strongest monster that can be encountered by someone at level 10 (provided they don't have a godmode hack).
6. Only people level 50 and up can get into Sharp Cliff I and any further areas. Judging by the name of some of the more popular maps as well as certain sounds in the music, what is the name of the background music of this area?

Answer: Wolf Wood

This is the area where you'll find monsters such as the Werewolf, Lycanthrope, Hector, and White Pang. The howling in the background of the song alludes to these monsters. This is also the home to places such as the Forest of Dead Trees and Wolf Territory.

It's probably best that no one above level 50 can enter this area, since the monsters range from the level 55 Hector to the level 82 Dark Yeti & Pepe.
7. Deep under Victoria Island rests an ancient sanctuary, overrun by monsters. Within this cursed place lurks the most powerful monster on the island. However, the name of the music you'll hear in The Cursed Sanctuary alludes to which weaker monster?

Answer: Evil Eye

The name of the background music of The Cursed Sanctuary is "EvilEyes". This music begins at The Cave of Evil Eye I and, between that map and The Cursed Sanctuary, the only map that doesn't use this background music is Drake's Hunting Ground (that map uses "AncientMove").
8. You might have a tough time of things at this GM event unless you know your "Maple Story" trivia... it's certainly no picnic! Which GM event uses the background music "GoPicnic"?

Answer: OX Quiz

For this GM event, players will be asked questions. They then must move to either the large X or the large O to answer the question. If they answer all questions correctly, they win. Ola Ola is a portal maze, the Physical Fitness Challenge is a jump quest, and Find the Jewel is a treasure hunt. Winners of these challenges are awarded with Scroll of Secrets, which is an item that gives a random prize when decoded.
9. The background music "RestNPeace" is used in many areas. Which of these monsters will you not find in an area that uses this music?

Answer: Horned Mushroom

This question should be fairly easy if you've been to Gollem Temple, which has Fierrys, Stone Gollems, and Lupins. This is but one of the places that uses the background music "RestNPeace". But this is not a place you can really rest. One interesting thing about Gollems is that they tend to spawn right on the player. Whether this is a coincidence or intentional has never been confirmed.
10. What is the one hidden street that uses the background music "ShiningSea"?

Answer: Fish Resting Spot

The Cave of Pianus is not a hidden street, so this was a throwaway answer. Fish Resting Spot is the place in Aqua Road accessible from Blue Seaweed Road, at the top of the map. The monsters you'll find here are Cico and Cicle, the seahorses of Aqua Road.
