Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When creating your Shepard in any "Mass Effect" you have 4 choices of your Shepard's "reputation". Which of the following is NOT one of the options

Answer: Renegade

When creating your Shepard your options for "reputation" vary and each has a back story. You can choose Sole Survivor, the back story being that you survived a mission due to skill and perseverance, yet lost everyone else that had been assigned with you.

There is War Hero, this choice is probably the most "prestigious". Choosing War Hero sets you up as the epitome of an Alliance soldier. A man or woman with the heart and will of 1000 lesser soldiers. Finally, there is the Ruthless option. A Ruthless Shepard gets the job done no matter what, or who, he, or she, has to sacrifice. If killing 100 people means saving 1000, then a Ruthless Shepard never hesitates to make the tough calls.
2. In all 3 games of the "Mass Effect" series you spend a majority of your time on The Citadel, a kind of "neutral" ground among the races, and the home of the Council. While there you encounter 3 species that play a small role in the games. These species are even ordained as Citadel Species. True or False? The three species are the Hanar, the Elcor, and the Keepers?

Answer: True

The three species that are, for the most part, seen only on the Citadel are the Hanar, a species resembling jellyfish, The Elcor, a large slow moving species, kind of like the turtles of the "Mass Effect" world, and the Keepers, a race of insect-like creatures that maintain the Citadel, almost like janitors or handymen that are guarded by the Council and have free reign. All visitors and residents of the Citadel are forbidden by law to interact or disturb the Keepers in any way.
3. Throughout the galaxy, all advanced races use one piece of equipment that is always the same. It is required for almost all things and is kept with the owner at all times. This item is called an Omni-Kit: true or false?

Answer: False

In the "Mass Effect" series, practically all functions tech or otherwise can be handled via Omni-Tool. All advanced races use this item and all races depend on it as well. An Omni-Tool holds vital information, can upload, download, and scan other tech.

It is used as a transmitter for communications on the field or in situations where a radio is not available by linking any number of the devices together for that purpose. In "Mass Effect 3" you also gain the ability to take out enemies with a sharp blade that your Omni-Tool creates. You can also upgrade it to become more powerful or change the look.
4. In the "Mass Effect" series, your character, Shepard is part of an elite group of soldiers handpicked for Advanced Training due to military prowess and accomplishments. This group is Alliance only and is just as high an honor for humans as becoming a Spectre. Which of the following is the name of this elite program?

Answer: The N7

The N7 soldiers are the most elite of Alliance military. Chosen for elite skill and instinct as well as the discipline to follow orders and choose wisely in tough situations. The N7 program is not entered into lightly and is just as delicately handled when choosing someone for the honor of joining.

Shepard is already an N7 and bears the symbol on all of his or her armor. During the course of the game, Ashley or Kaidan, depending on your choice of who to rescue in the 1st game enter into the program, and in the 3rd installation James Vega is also chosen to join. You see through these people the thought that needs to be put into accepting a recommendation and how high an honor it is.
5. The First Contact War was a long battle between the humans and the other races of the galaxy?

Answer: False

The First Contact War was a small campaign and only included the humans and the turians. After discovering the Mass Relays and successfully using one to travel to another system, the humans encountered a turian fleet that immediately assumed hostility and opened fire.

The humans then struck back and defeated the same fleet. However, after only a few back and forth attacks between the two races, the Council intervened and made peace between them. In reading the book. "Mass Effect: Revelations" I learned that the Turians actually sustained more losses than the humans, showing that even though humans had just discovered the Mass Relays, that they were not far behind.
6. Over the course of the series, Shepard makes alot of enemies. He also makes alot of friends. There are several characters of "Mass Effect" that can fall into either category but still remain the same. These are the people that you gather info from. On the Citadel, Commander Bailey can usually lead you in the right direction. Which of the following is your go-to on Omega in "Mass Effect 2".

Answer: Aria T'Loak

On Omega, there is only one rule. Everyone abides by it and everyone knows. The rule is "Don't mess with Aria". Aria T'Loak is an Asari. On Omega, criminals, and all the underhanded, are in no short supply. Omega is also constantly in conflict, being the home to The Blue Suns, The Blood Pack, and Eclipse mercernary groups. Aria keeps them all in line.
7. Eezo, or element zero, is the most invaluable resource in the "Mass Effect" galaxy?

Answer: True

Eezo is at the core of the Mass Relays. It is utilized in "Mass Effect 2" to upgrade all Prototype upgrades. It is also the source of biotic implants. The only natural biotics are the Asari. Every other species is subject to biotic charges implanted in their body to allow them to tap into it.
8. In "Mass Effect 2" Shepard works for Cerberus and is basically the Illusive Man's operative bringing the fight to the Collectors. In "Mass Effect 3" The Illusive Man has a new operative bringing the fight to the Alliance, and Shepard himself. Which of the following is the name of this new Operative?

Answer: Kai Leng

In a way, Kai Leng is Shepard's replacement. Though Shepard states several times that he worked WITH them, and not FOR them, when Shepard speaks to The Illusive Man on Mars, He states that he used Shepard, but "like the other relics in this place" his time is over. Kai Leng subsequently steps into view at that moment. Clearly that shows that The Illusive Man has replaced Shepard with Leng. You also learn that Admiral Anderson has had run-ins with Leng.
9. The longest living council species in the "Mass Effect" series are the Asari.

Answer: True

The Asari can live for a millenium and go through three distinct stages in life. A Maiden is a young asari, and is prone to explore and be impulsive. The Matron stage, around the age of 350, is triggered when an asari settles down and raises an asari child.

The final stage, around 700, is The Matriarch Stage. Matriarchs are the elders of the asari and provide council and wisdom to the asari number. Matriarchs are chosen as the leaders of the asari world as well.
10. In "Mass Effect 3" Shepard can be equipped with a handgun, a shotgun, an assault rifle, and a sniper rifle.

Answer: True

In the first two "Mass Effects", Shepard was limited by his of her choice of type. An example is if a Shepard is a soldier, then he can hold as many guns as there were types, but if their choice was an engineer then they were limited to 3 unless they received an upgrade to wield more.
