Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. After beating the intro stage you'll be faced with the option to pick between eight stages. To help pick a stage you are provided a map to look at, mug shot of the boss of each stage and info on each individual boss. Since I'm new, I don't know which stage is best to go to first. I'll therefore pick and hope for something easy. I pick a stage that has a boss named Spark Mandrill. What stage did I pick?

Answer: Power Plant

Most would argue that this isn't exactly a good first pick. The power plant is home to many electric themed puzzles and enemies. It's also one of the two longest stages of the central eight.
2. Beginning Spark Mandrill's stage, we are faced with our first obstacle. A new enemy that shoots torpedoes at us, as well as send sparks through the floor in our direction. What is this enemy called?

Answer: Gun Volt

The Gun Volt may have fairly weak attacks, but it can sure take a load of shots. Regardless of what you fire at it, it'll likely take two or more shots provided the attack isn't a lingering one for continuous damage. While the sparks can easily be jumped over, the missiles will need more well timed jumps or a quick slide to evade.

Their lack of the ability to walk makes them somewhat easier to deal with.
3. The first obstacle in Spark Mandrill's stage is a miniature maze. Which of the following is not true about this maze of pipes and ladders?

Answer: There are three different types of enemies

The relatively small maze contains only Gun Volts as far as enemies go. The maze can be navigated by using the ladders to climb up, up, down, and then up as the ladders that can be climbed in such direction appear. The E tank can be reached by going up and then down, but can not be collected until a certain weapon is provided to help. All while navigating the place, sparks will run through the ground occasionally.

They can easily be jumped over.
4. In the second section of Spark Mandrill's stage, we are forced to make careful jumps over some gaps. What unusual enemy will be in this area spinning its head and neck around while flinging razor blades at us?

Answer: Flammingle

Flammingle is a flamingo enemy that spins its head and neck around vertically to toss buzz saws at you from off the top of its head. It's an easy enemy to kill with only a few shots and is relatively harmless, and the buzz saws are easily evaded.
5. After clearing the first half of Spark Mandrill's stage you'll be locked in a room with the mid-boss. Which of the following attacks does the mid-boss not attempt to use against you?

Answer: Slide across the floor while charged with electricity

The boss, the Thunder Slimer, is a large mechanical head trapped in a thick ball of slime which moves across the ceiling. Occasionally the Slimer will try to fling slime at you which will pin you to the floor until you quickly move and jump free. If you stay stuck for too long, Slimer will try to body slam you. Aside that, he'll charge himself with electricity, and while sliding across the ceiling, will drop thunder bolts to the floor.

He's not as hard to defeat as he is long and frustrating. Slimer has more health than the actual stage boss but can be defeated far faster than him if attacked with a slow moving or endless stream weapon.
6. In the area after defeating the Thunder Slimer mid-boss, we'll be introduced to a new enemy which hangs from the ceiling and can be braced to the floor. What are these enemies called?

Answer: Turn Cannon

Turn cannons are semi-circle shaped turrets with four cannons attached. The turret will rotate horizontally on a base and present two fire patterns. It'll first fire a bullet in both diagonal directions in front of it before rotating to reveal another which will then fire one shot straight ahead and one more to the left and right before rotating again and switching back and forth between the two shot patterns.

They are best to be shot down from a distance as trying to run past them all at once will likely result in some damage taken.
7. The obstacle of the stage located before Spark Mandrill's room bares a great similarity to the second obstacle of the stage in which we were forced to jump over gaps. Which of the following features of this obstacle is not located in the earlier jumping obstacle as well?

Answer: Hotarion's fly across the screen

The lights do go on and off, however, this is not necessarily new to this section, as the stages second section may also feature the lights going on and off provided a certain stage was beaten beforehand. Hotarion's are firefly like robots that shoot across the screen towards you, lighting up a range of area in their trail temporarily.

The enemies are best dodged than killed as their light will make it easier to see where you're jumping. The ground will not move and sparks do not fall from the ceiling.
8. When we reach the final room of the stage we are greeted by the boss. What is one thing Spark Mandrill will not do before the battle begins?

Answer: Jump up and down

Upon entering the room it'll be dark. You'll briefly see some glowing lights in the opposite corner of the room before the whole room lights up with Spark Mandrill clinging to the ceiling. Dropping to the floor, he'll flex in a childish pose before the battle begins.

It's confusing as to why the lights on his wrists and shoulders were never made of better use. The lights could have gone off and on during the battle and his body lights could be all you have to help.
9. The battle with Spark Mandrill has begun. Which of the following will he not do to us?

Answer: Create tremors by jumping

Spark Mandrill is a very unpredictable boss. His most common method of attacking is to dash across the room at you in an attempt to punch you. From there he'll either jump at you or jump to the ceiling and climb across it with the attempt to drop on top of you. If you're on the wall and he punches it, you'll be knocked off and you WILL fall directly into him for damage unavoidably. Sometimes Mandrill will also fire sparks across the floor that'll travel the room both clockwise and counter-clockwise.

This can be avoided by jumping. While he can create tremors, he doesn't do this by jumping but by punching the walls, and it is only harmful to you if you're clinging to the one he happens to hit.
10. Which of the following is not true about the boss, Spark Mandrill?

Answer: He gives you the Electric Shock weapon

Spark Mandrill's mug shot fills the block it is placed on, and in it, you can see that his eyes are in the shape of triangles. A feature exhibited by him and him alone. When you win he'll leave behind the Electric Spark weapon, not the Electric Shock weapon. The weapon fires a reasonably strong spark straight ahead of you, but through the air and not across the ground.
