Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Metal Gear Solid 3", what is the name of the place in which Snake is thrown over a swinging bridge into a canyon below?

Answer: Dolinovodno

This is one of the last major events that occurs in the Virtuous Mission before the beginning of "Operation Snake Eater". After The Boss announces her defection to the Soviet Union, she and Snake engage in CQC before The Boss throws her beloved disciple into the canyon below.
2. Who is ultimately responsible for orchestrating the San Hieronymo takeover in "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops"?

Answer: Ocelot

What better way to find out after the credits roll that it was Ocelot who orchestrated the incident during one of his famous "last words" speeches! This is rather surprising considering this is Ocelot's only "appearance" in the game and something the player really doesn't expect.
3. Who provided the vocals for "Heaven's Divide", the main theme for "Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker"?

Answer: Donna Burke

The theme for "Peacewalker" was released in 2010 and blew the roof in terms of video game themes, making it arguably the best in the entire franchise! Cynthia Harrell voiced the lyrics for "Snake Eater" ("Metal Gear Solid 3") and "Calling to the Night" ("Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops"), Rika Muranaka voiced "The Best is Yet to Come" ("Metal Gear Solid 1"), and the band Starsailor sealed the vocals for "Way to Fall", the end-theme for "Metal Gear Solid 3".
4. Which of the following bosses does Solid Snake never encounter in the original "Metal Gear" (MSX)?

Answer: Red Blaster

Solid Snake eventually encounters Red Blaster in the sequel, "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake". Red Blaster attacks Snake by throwing grenades while clinging to a wall.
5. Near the end of "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake", Solid Snake must break into an enemy compound in a rather unorthodox way using what strange item?

Answer: Egg

Believe it or not, Solid Snake had to wait until sunset to sneak into an enemy compound using a mysterious "EGG" he acquired earlier in the game. As night rolled in in the game, the "EGG" hatched into an "OWL", thus alerting the guard to open the gate.

This was actually quite high-tech and intelligent for such a game at the time and left many players stumped as to how to proceed in the game!
6. What is the only game in the "Metal Gear" canon in which you, the player, can create a "Time Paradox"?

Answer: Metal Gear Solid 3

There is one small part in "Metal Gear Solid 3" in which Snake stuns Ocelot and his unit during the Virtuous Mission. Ocelot is stunned and can be killed, but if that happens, it is "Game Over", and Roy Campbell voices "Snake! You've created a Time Paradox!" Why? Obviously if Ocelot is killed, none of the later games can occur.
7. In "Metal Gear Solid 1", Solid Snake downs a Hind D, piloted by Liquid Snake, atop the Communications Tower. As he descends to the Snowfield, he is caught off-guard in the elevator by how many soldiers wearing Stealth Suits?

Answer: Four

Otacon calls Snake on the Codec informing him that four of the five prototype Stealth Suits were taken from the Armory. At that very moment, Otacon shouts into the Codec that four soldiers are waiting for him in the elevator ready to take him out!
8. In "Metal Gear Solid 2", which of the following wigs allowed Raiden infinite ammo?

Answer: Brown Wig

All the wigs for "Metal Gear Solid 2" were special items that were unlocked after obtaining certain amounts of dog tags. All but the red wig were real items, the Orange Wig allowing for an infinite hang meter, and the Blue Wig allowing an unlimited O2 (oxygen) gauge.
9. "Metal Gear Solid 4" is known for its vast amount of weaponry! Most of these weapons are found only by purchasing them through Drebin's Shop. Which of these weapons, however, is found in both "Metal Gear Solid 4" and "Metal Gear Solid 1"?

Answer: Socom

The Socom is the primary weapon used by Solid Snake in "Metal Gear Solid 1", and ironically, is found in the same spot he collects it on his return to Shadow Moses in "Metal Gear Solid 4" ... named the MK 23. The Famas is the only assault rifle Snake obtains in "Metal Gear Solid 1", and the Patriot is obtained in both "Metal Gear Solid 3" and "Metal Gear Solid 4", the favored weapon of The Boss.

The short-lived Nikita was also used in "Metal Gear Solid 1" and by Raiden in "Metal Gear Solid 2".
10. At the end of "Metal Gear Solid 4", we found out this character was ultimately responsible for controlling the Beauty and the Beast Unit. Who?

Answer: Psycho Mantis

All of this is revealed in the cut scene after the Screaming Mantis battle in Act 5. This is a great plot point in the game when we found out that Psycho Mantis (in the form of his consciousness/spirit) was ultimately controlling the beauties. Liquid Ocelot implanted Psycho Mantis's will into their minds, thus, prompting the beauties to believe that slaying Snake would end their torment.
