Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which game is this a sequel to?

Answer: "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops"

This is both a sequel and prequel in the series. It is set four years after "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops". It mainly references "Metal Gear Solid 3", though it does occasionally bring up the events of "Portable Ops".
2. In this game, how do you recruit soldiers?

Answer: Using the Fulton Recovery System

In "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops", you had to drag them to a truck, but in this game it is substantially easier and less time consuming. You knock them out in some way and press the action button while near them and they will be parachuted to a helicopter to bring them to Mother Base. You can't kill enemies immediately. Using lethal weapons instead puts enemies in a near death state, indicated by the red skull above their heads.

This still decreases your rating, however.
3. In this game, Big Boss is working with Kazuhira Miller to defeat the enemy know as Cipher. Has Kaz appeared in a previous game?

Answer: Yes

Although he did not appear in "Metal Gear Solid", he did appear in "Metal Gear 2". In "Metal Gear Solid", Liquid disguised himself as Miller to trick Solid Snake into doing what Liquid wanted, though Miller was already dead at that time.
4. Big Boss also works with some one named Huey Emmerich, a relative of Hal Emmerich (a.k.a. Otacon). What is Huey's relation to Hal?

Answer: Father

Huey was previously seen in a photo in Granin's office in "Metal Gear Solid 3". Huey helps develop Metal Gear ZEKE, similar to how his son helped make REX. Huey seems to be aquaphobic, which is ironic considering he dies by drowning years later.
5. What is the initial Metal Gear threat in this game?

Answer: Peace Walker

Peace Walker could be considered the first true Metal Gear, as it is bipedal. It is made of three separate A.I. weapons, known as PUPA, CHRYSALIS, and COCOON.
6. What gameplay mechanic is new to the series (from this game)?

Answer: Playable cutscenes

Crouch walking was introduced in "Metal Gear Solid 4", Mission select was used in "Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops", and choosing camo was introduced in "Metal Gear Solid 3" and to a lesser extent, "Metal Gear Solid 4". The cutscenes with interactive games affect what happens in further gameplay, such as making missions easier, getting key items, or other things. Sometimes, failing these mini games causes death, forcing you to try it again.
7. Later in the game, there is a mission involving reviving some nearly dead soldiers while avoiding their ghosts. In this mission, who makes a surprising cameo as a ghost?

Answer: The End

If you open the radio channel, there is a chance while scrolling through your contacts, the End from "Metal Gear Solid 3" will send you an ominous message under the frequency 000.00. Sokolov was not dead, as shown in "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops".
8. This game takes place in a location known as the San Hieronymo Penisula.

Answer: False

"Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops" takes place there. This game is set in Costa Rica.
9. What happens to Metal Gear ZEKE in the end?

Answer: It is stolen by Paz and had to be destroyed

Paz, who was actually working for Cipher, modified ZEKE to be manned instead of being an A.I. weapon. To battle Zeke, Mother Base must be at least at level 2, and you must have collected parts from all the A.I. weapons.
10. After the credits, we hear Big Boss make a speech to his soldiers. This leads to the creation of what group?

Answer: Outer Heaven

Foxhound and the Patriots were both conceived in "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops." Militaires Sans Frontieres, A.K.A. the MSF, was formed sometime after 1972.
