Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Throat of the World is the home of the Greybeards in which "Elder Scrolls" game?

Answer: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

By far the largest mountain in Skyrim, the Throat of the World sits roughly in the middle and forms part of Whiterun Hold. The ascent to High Hrothgar, the ancient home of the Greybeards, is known as the Seven Thousand Steps. Beyond High Hrothgar is a windswept climb to the very summit, where the dragon Paarthurnax resides.
2. Spiral Mountain is the tutorial area which introduces which Nintendo 64 game?

Answer: Banjo-Kazooie

After the game's opening cutscene, wherein Banjo's sister is kidnapped by the witch Gruntilda, Banjo and Kazooie are free to explore Spiral Mountain. Peppered throughout this area are small Bottles' molehills, where he teaches the pair how to perform their basic moves (such as rolling, swimming and jumping).

The so-named Spiral Mountain sits in the centre of the area, acting as the only means of reaching Grunty's lair.
3. In which game is All-Mother Mountain a sacred place for the Nora tribe?

Answer: Horizon Zero Dawn

The complicated origins of Aloy in "Horizon Zero Dawn" see her returning to her home tribe of the Nora and entering the sacred mountain containing the All-Mother. Feared and revered by the Nora, no one but the Matriarchs have access to the mountain, who believe that the All-Mother created all life. To them, their goddess is located behind a giant metal door, and Aloy is able to gain access using a registry of data to discover what lies within.
4. Midnight Mountain is the last homeworld in which "Spyro" game?

Answer: Spyro: Year of the Dragon

It's from here that Spyro will finally face off against the game's antagonist, the Sorceress. 100 eggs will unlock her lair, while collecting pretty much everything else in the game (like all 149 eggs and 15,000 gems) will unlock a second fight with her in the Super Bonus Round, also accessible from Midnight Mountain.
5. Choco Mountain is a track that first appeared in which "Mario Kart" game?

Answer: Mario Kart 64

Choco Mountain is fairly simple in terms of design, with the winding through a canyon of what presumably is chocolate, given the name. Around two-thirds of the way around, the track loops back on itself in a precarious hairpin-like turn. What makes this turn tricky is the removal of barriers and the danger of falling rocks.

The track briefly runs parallel to and above an earlier section, so it can be quite easy to fall down onto the track, forcing you to go back around the hairpin again.
6. To reach the very top of a distant mountain is the ultimate goal of which game by thatgamecompany?

Answer: Journey

Though relatively short in length, the simple goal of reaching the top of the mountain is spread across a variety of environments, where the only controls (aside from movement and camera) are to jump and sing a note. Players can be joined along the way by someone else, though there is no way of communicating with one another other than singing.

When players eventually reach the summit of the mountain, a shooting star travels back down to the very beginning, ready to start again.
7. The Apennine Mountains of Italy connect Romagna and Forlė to Florence in which game?

Answer: Assassin's Creed II

During Sequence 6, Ezio helps Leonardo Da Vinci outrun enemy soldiers in his horse and cart, as the pair head towards the region of Romagna. Later, Ezio can return to find things a little more tranquil. Containing nought else but a smattering of chests, a trek through the verdant Apennines is a welcome interlude in proceedings.
8. Snowpeak houses the Snowpeak Ruins and is found in which "Legend of Zelda" game?

Answer: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The frigid Snowpeak is located in Hyrule's suitably-named Peak Province, accessible from Zora's Domain. Initially, the only way to successfully navigate Snowpeak is to sniff out the scent of the Reekfish in Link's wolf form. Once he meets up with Yeto, the pair make their way to Snowpeak Ruins, the game's fifth dungeon, where a shard of the Mirror of Twilight awaits.
9. Which European mountain has particular prominence in the original "God of War" trilogy?

Answer: Mount Olympus

The original "God of War" trilogy focuses heavily on Greek mythology, so naturally the mountain of the gods, Mount Olympus, plays a significant role. In "God of War III", for instance, Kratos goes up to the top of the mountain with an army of Titans to destroy the gods of Olympus, only to be thrown all the way off and needing to climb back up again, defeating other gods and powerful figures along the way.
10. In which MMORPG would you find the area known as the Stonetalon Mountains?

Answer: World of Warcraft

A contested area in "World of Warcraft" (meaning PvP activates and anyone can be attacked by anyone of the opposite faction), the Stonetalon Mountains are found in the north-western section of Central Kalimdor, adjacent to Desolace, Mulgore and the Barrens.

The area is home to the Alliance's Stonetalon Peak, though this is destroyed in the "Cataclysm" expansion (and much of the surrounding geography is also changed).
