Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As a new recruit at Detective Academy, you'll first need to meet your supervisor. What does your supervisor resemble?

Answer: A robot

This robot is a great source of information, helping you as you investigate various criminal activities. He also awards you some sparkly new badges as you move up the ranks!

His name is strangely not given anywhere in the game. It would be pretty weird to not know what name to call your boss by, wouldn't it?
2. In your first case, "The Invisible Instrumentalist", you must investigate where someone hid a stolen treasure inside an old mansion! There are clues of seven different types, each represented by a different symbol. Which symbol represents a natural clue?

Answer: A green leaf

The seven different types of clues are word clues, logical clues, physical clues, visual clues, natural clues, musical clues and eyewitnesses. Each represents a different style of thinking. Eyewitnesses, for example, represent interpersonal thinking, while physical clues represent kinesthetic thinking.

The game comes with a very cool survey that allows you to determine what style of detective you would be the best at. When I took the quiz, my primary detective style was linguistic, while my secondary style was logical. While the survey is hardly scientific, the results for me sure are accurate!
3. This game features several activities called gadget games. If you're investigating a musical clue, which of the gadget games will you need to play?

Answer: Tone Analyzer

For the Tone Analyzer gadget game, you have to repeat a series of notes, which could be ghost noises, Morse code beeps, and many other things. The sequences get harder to remember as you continue on through the game. If you guess it right, you'll get a clue!
4. One clue simply isn't sufficient for figuring out where the treasure is hidden in the mansion. How many clues do you need before you can attempt to solve the case?

Answer: Three

Once you have three clues, the Solve It button will light up, and you can choose to make a guess. In the majority of cases, this will involve picking which suspect committed the crime. However, some cases, such as "The Invisible Instrumentalist", require you to pick the location where something is hidden.
5. A book lying on the floor of the mansion will provide a word clue. To analyze this word clue, what must you do?

Answer: Create anagrams

Essentially, the game is figuring out how many words you can make from a group of five letters. You have two minutes to find the target number of words. This target gets harder and harder as you solve more cases. Fortunately, no knowledge of obscure words is required!
6. To investigate the stuffed moose hanging from the wall, you'll need to play the Digital Dash gadget game. It is used for what kind of clue?

Answer: Physical clue

Digital Dash is a fast-paced action game. Jump and run to collect the spheres while avoiding the monsters. Collect enough spheres, and you'll be able to analyze a clue. There are even moving platforms in the mix as well. It's quite fun!
7. The Witness Game requires you to make an eyewitness happy by giving them what they ask for, and then using an appropriate tactic to extract a clue from them. What's not one of the tactics you can try?

Answer: Pass the blame

To make the witness happy, you'll need to either change the temperature, feed them some food or provide a beverage.

To extract the clue, you'll need to pick a strategy on how to get information out of the witness. The proper strategy is usually hinted at by their previous actions. For example, if the witness says things in a very humorous way, the "Be funny" tactic is almost certainly going to work.

Get it wrong too many times, and you will run out of resources to make the witness happy. When that happens, it's game over!
8. In the Natural Analyzer gadget game, what tile can you use as a wildcard?

Answer: ? tile

For "The Invisible Instrumentalist" case, the natural clue is hiding in the mouse hole, which unsurprisingly has a mouse sticking out of it.

The gadget game provides you with various tiles placed on a large board, each with a different description. To get a clue, you'll have to get four similar tiles in a row, which could be horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The difficulty is, more tiles are being added every time you try to move them around!
9. Once you've gathered enough clues, you can make a guess as to the case's solution. Where is the treasure hiding at the manor in the first case?

Answer: Fireplace

Each of the clues you have gathered during the case provide information about the whereabouts of the treasure.

If you guess right, you'll be congratulated, and given a full explanation of the criminal's motives.

If you guess wrong, the game graciously does give you another chance; however, you'll need to get another clue before you can try again!
10. After solving your first case, there's no need to stop. How many different cases can you investigate in this game?

Answer: Ten

For every two cases you solve, you are promoted one rank. When you are promoted, your badge earns another star. After you've finished all of them, you are a five-star detective!
