Question 1 of 10
1. Welcome to the Epic Temple of Spiders! Also referred to as "ETOS", ETOS is the statistically most popular epic dungeon in the entire game. While some may argue that this is because the dungeon itself is a thrilling challenge and has lots of replayability, there is a key economic reason intertwined within the epic dungeon that is highly likely to accurately explain why this is. What is this? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Let's have a look at the first boss of ETOS. Evidently highly regarded within the Drow community, this member of Drow royalty isn't willing to let you go without a good fight. Who is this Drow Lord?

Answer: (Begins with a J)
Question 3 of 10
3. Having a look at the second boss of the dungeon, we note that the trek from the first to the second is fairly short, so you will come upon him... Or her? This boss' appearance is fairly deceptive. Found attached to a pillar angrily giving hand signals to their minions, this Drow, otherwise known as the "Dark Stalker" is not one to be taken lightly. What is their name?

Answer: (Begins with an H)
Question 4 of 10
4. Let's have a look at ETOS' final boss. If you thought the Driders have been annoying to fight to this point, the final boss will be your worst nightmare. The High Priestess of Lolth is your final destination of this dungeon. Slaying her will prove to be an arduous task, but can be done by a properly balanced party. What is her name?

Answer: (Begins with an S)
Question 5 of 10
5. As a knowledgeable player myself, if I was talking to someone about to play ETOS for the first time, my first piece of advice would be to look out for various shortcuts in the dungeon that can be used to avoid unwanted conflict. How many of these shortcuts exist in this dungeon? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Though it isn't based off of any particular campaign, the description of this dungeon will tell you where this dungeon is based, geographically speaking. Where is the Epic of Temple of Spiders? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. In your guild's stronghold, two NPCs can administer a quest that involves the completion of this dungeon. Who are these two people? Hint

Question 8 of 10

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: The player has a greater chance to find Epic gear and Seals of the Protector and Elements

One aspect of ETOS that is semi-exclusive to itself is that it has two mini bosses before the final boss. Most dungeons typically carry one mini boss to lead into the final boss. Because every boss, mini or not, in the game always drops a Rare piece of equipment upon being defeated, this already increases your ability to profit off of this dungeon.

However, for an inexplicable reason, the mini bosses and boss in this dungeon have a minor chance to drop a piece of Epic equipment upon their defeat, meaning the chance of profiting off of this dungeon rises significantly. Worth noting is that, upon completing this dungeon for the first time in any given day, you will also be rewarded with a Cache of the Protector, a box which holds sixty Seals of the Protector.

This means you can also easily earn more Seals of the Protector than in any other epic dungeon. Finally, the bosses in this dungeon also have a fairly decent chance of dropping Seals of the Elements, another trait unique to this dungeon.
2. Let's have a look at the first boss of ETOS. Evidently highly regarded within the Drow community, this member of Drow royalty isn't willing to let you go without a good fight. Who is this Drow Lord?

Answer: Jevahn Jhalvar

Lord Jevahn Jhalvar may look like a pushover. Admittedly, his appearance is quite modest; he isn't wearing any noticeably heavy armor, and his blade of choice isn't particularly flashy. However, if you confront him with this mindset, you will very quickly be reminded why he is royalty in the first place.

He is very bulky and hits very, very hard. Worth noting is that you will want anyone approaching him close up to be very, very careful; Jevahn Jhalvar has multiple knockback inducing attacks. Given that you are fighting near a big pit, if anyone gets knocked back into the pit, they will instantly die. Guardian Fighters who manage their stamina decently enough should not be deterred from getting into his face, but Great Weapon Fighters will want to be cautious. Be prepared to face a fairly decent amount of Jevahn Jhalvar's supporters, as once he reaches around half health, he will be joined in battle by various spiders, Assassins, and Drow Fighters.

Answer: Halbryn

Unlike Jevahn Jhalvar, Halbryn gives off a very intimidating aura from the moment you meet them. With a menacing glare and intimidating stance, the player will not be lulled into any false sense of security here. However, it isn't Halbryn themselves who is as threatening as much as the aggro they bring; you can expect to be absolutely swarmed by Drow Assassins, Fighters, and Spiders of many kinds once Halbryn reaches about half health.

Much like Jevahn Jhalvar, Halbryn is pretty bulky and hits astonishingly hard. Unlike fighting Jevahn Jhalvar, however, there are no pits nearby, and Halbryn does not possess any knockback inducing attacks. Your Great Weapon Fighters can go to town against Halbryn.

Answer: Syndryth

Syndryth is a peculiar case. Upon approaching her, it's easy to assume she is merely a glorified Drow Assassin. Once she hits roughly 75% health, however, you will find this is definitely not the case. After issuing a plea to the Drow Queen (essentially praying to her, since she is not present) to "grant her a second chance", Syndryth's health will be fully restored and she will turn into the biggest Drider you've seen to date.

While Syndryth possesses all the qualities a typical Drider does (in addition to being significantly bulkier and hitting much harder than the average Drider) she has a wild card up her sleeve that your Guardian Fighter will want to pay attention to. Every so often, you will find a series of red arrows pointing towards whoever Syndryth's attention is on.

After a short period of time, a blast of red energy will be shot from behind, from an indeterminable source, and will strike Syndryth's target hard. It will also pass through Syndryth harmlessly and strike anyone who happened to be in the blast's way.

While Guardian Fighters and Devoted Clerics can survive this blast easily, frail DPS loadouts such as the Hunter Ranger or Control Wizard will get killed in one hit from this blast. It's not enough for the Guardian Fighter to simply attract Syndryth's attention; they must also monitor the positioning of the party DPS members, and ensure they can direct the oncoming energy blast away from them. It is worth noting that a Guardian Fighter with Knight's Valor triggered can save the life of one of these members if they are close enough. Finally, it is of vital importance to quickly deal with the aggro Syndryth attracts. If a spider or Drow steps into one of Syndryth's webs, Syndryth will kill them, but in doing so, she will also heal herself exponentially.
5. As a knowledgeable player myself, if I was talking to someone about to play ETOS for the first time, my first piece of advice would be to look out for various shortcuts in the dungeon that can be used to avoid unwanted conflict. How many of these shortcuts exist in this dungeon?

Answer: Three

It is of vital importance that your party is on the same page here, as these shortcuts are fairly easy to miss. One of them comes climbing a slightly slanted rock. You can jump off this rock, land on a slightly lower series of rocks, and advance to the entry of Lord Jevahn Jhalvar's throne.

The second comes right before you reach Halbryn, and can be used to avoid a conflict with a pack of spiders. The last one is extremely tricky to find. A seemingly empty, wide rock is actually being inhabited by three incredibly deadly Phase Spiders, hidden from sight. If you walk along the edges of this rock, with very little margin of error, you can avoid these Spiders, but only if the rest of your party follows suit.
6. Though it isn't based off of any particular campaign, the description of this dungeon will tell you where this dungeon is based, geographically speaking. Where is the Epic of Temple of Spiders?

Answer: The Underdark

As you enter the dungeon, it becomes fairly obvious that you are in the Underdark: you are far underground, and it is very dark where you are. If that didn't help you enough, the game will tell you have reached "Deeper Underdark" upon reaching the Bloodcrossed Spider about halfway through the dungeon.
7. In your guild's stronghold, two NPCs can administer a quest that involves the completion of this dungeon. Who are these two people?

Answer: The Cleric and Priest

The Cleric will typically give you quests involving the completion of epic dungeons, with ETOS being one of them. The Priest can be found right outside Drake Hills, and will award you with sixty Influence and a random Rank 5 Enhancement if you complete this dungeon after accepting his quest.
8. The Drider, Bloodcrossed Spider, and the bosses get plenty of attention. However, one underrated spider, one which can also be found as a Rare companion, also poses a mighty threat in this dungeon, and can be found twice throughout. What is the spider?

Answer: Phase Spider

The Phase Spider is extremely dangerous, moreso if it gets to ambush you and your party. Phase animals are animals which have the ability to teleport, and ones which can also temporarily become invisible. Because of this the Phase Spider can easily attain Combat Advantage against you, and it can also catch you by surprise fairly easily.

In some instances, they can appear for a extremely brief flash before turning invisible again, which can tip the player off to their presence. Either way, while fighting them, they will teleport behind you, gathering Combat Advantage.

As they also hit quite hard, they can be difficult to adequately defend yourselves against. Ironically, if you have a Phase Spider companion Active, you can use its Active bonus, which lowers the effects of Combat Disadvantage by 10%, to mitigate this problem.
9. Having a Spider for a mount means you will move faster through this dungeon.

Answer: False

Unfortunately, your mount speed is not affected regardless of which mount you may have. Also playing off of this trick question, you cannot even use a mount in this dungeon. Most dungeons have a predominant aspect of their playthrough forcing the player to travel on foot.
10. What type of key is required to open the Treasure Chest at the end of the dungeon?

Answer: Epic Dungeon Key

The Bronze Skeleton Key, looted in a standard Treasure Chest early in the dungeon, is complete and utter fool's gold; though it may look neat and appear to have a use, it does not. It is just a piece of junk. unlike most other dungeons, ETOS does not have two Treasure Chests at the end of the dungeon.

This is because it is not attached to a campaign, therefore there would be no way to conventionally craft such a key, like you could with Valindra's Tower or Malabog's Castle.
