Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Upon reaching Level 16, Sergeant Knox will present the player with a quest called "A Companion." Upon completing this quest, the player will receive their choice of a free companion between a Dog, Man-at-Arms, Apprentice Healer, or Wayward Wizard. What quality companions are these?

Answer: Common

Predictably, the easiness of this quest combined with how early in the game you receive it means that you aren't sitting on a gold mine for a starter companion here. Having said that, they are still helpful companions to have at the beginning of the game.

The Dog and Apprentice Healer are not too useful, but the Man-at-Arms pairs well with most classes, and the Wayward Wizard is particularly good for Guardian Fighters in the early game. Given their Common quality, their max level will be a mere 15.
2. Aside from having an added movement speed of 140% and adding a combat power, what advantage do legendary Mounts have over mounts of lesser quality?

Answer: They can join the adventurer in battle

Though their contributions are not game-breaking, legendary mounts can contribute to the fight by simply selecting the button you would normally use to ride them while you are in combat. Some of them can have really beneficial effects. For example, the Armored Griffon will, upon being summoned, let out an ear piercing shriek at a small radius of targets, which reduces the damage the afflicted enemies deal by 30% for six seconds. DPS characters such as the Hunter Ranger or Great Weapon Fighter might also find the Beholder Personal Tank to be useful: though it only deals a mere 6,890 damage with its blast, this damage total skyrockets by a whopping 500% if the target enemy's health is lower than the character's Power statistic.

As a neat aesthetic addition, if the Beholder Personal Tank happens to kill an enemy, the enemy becomes completely disintegrated, as opposed to falling dead and disappearing from the game.
3. This companion, upon being summoned, absolutely loves to poke and prod at its enemies' emotions. It has no trouble biting down on them to attack, but it also likes to attack them psychologically, using powers such as Burning Insult to really hammer home at their feelings. What is this companion?

Answer: Laughing Skull

Here is a list of the things the Laughing Skull will scream, in random order, at anything you engage in combat with:

"Does it hurt to be so uglyyyyyy?"
"I SPIT on your valuables?"
"Your mother was an orc!"
"You are truly REVOLTING!"
"A pox on your family!"

This is a list of things the Laughing Skull will say to you once you summon it:

"You don't mind doing all the leg work for me, do you?"
"Why yes, I was just too funny for one lifetime"
"This place smells more than I remember"
The Laughing Skull can also laugh maniacally upon being summoned.

In addition to berating the entire Sword Coast's worth of enemies, the Laughing Skull also has Flying Bite, an attack where the Laughing Skull simply lunges at a target and bites them for mild damage. The diamond in the rough, though, is that if you have the Laughing Skull as Active, everytime you begin combat with something your Power and Recovery are increased by 500 and your Action Point regeneration is sped up by 5% for twenty five seconds. Because the Laughing Skull is a Defender companion, and its most notable move in Burning Insult generates Threat, it is best suited to be paired alongside DPS loadouts who will appreciate Threat being diverted away from them towards a bulkier Companion.
4. The Winter Sled may only be an Uncommon Mount, but it has one characteristic that makes it briefly on par with the game's Legendary mounts. During the month of December, the Winter Sled receives a massive, albeit temporary, buff. What happens to the Winter Sled?

Answer: It becomes much faster

During this brief time period, the Winter Sled now receives a 150% speed buff, slightly greater than the 140% buff enjoyed by Legendary Mounts. It still can't contribute in combat, though, so it still really isn't as good as Legendaries, but having a speed buff, even one of a minor ten percent, can be crucial in the Jungle of Chult, where you really need to get through the Jungle as quickly as possible to avoid aggro.
5. This Mount, an Epic, was obtainable through the Neverwinter Siege event. By doing the daily quest within the Siege and getting lucky through Heroic Encounters, you could obtain this beast within the fourteen day period. What Mount is this?

Answer: Siegebreaker Griffon

Fitting in with the theme of the event, the Siegebreaker Griffon is obtainable through the Neverwinter Siege event. To get your own Siegebreaker Griffon, you would need to have obtained fourteen Writs of Commendation. These can be gathered most commonly through doing the daily quest within the event, but they can also be found, albeit extremely rarely, doing Heroic Encounters within the area.
6. In Fantasy in general, when one thinks of a Mount, a horse will typically come to mind. In "Neverwinter", this is reinforced by the fact that there are far more types of horse than any other animal or being in the game. How many types of horse are there in the game? (Note: Mounts such as the Unicorn do count as being a horse.)

Answer: 45

Fourty five horses exist in "Neverwinter." Not all of them are just your run of the mill steed, however; the Heavy Inferno Nightmare is a horse from Hell, lighting the area which it treads upon on fire. The Ghost Horse is difficult to spot at a distance.

The aforementioned Unicorn graces the area with its presence. Finally, the Black Ice Warhorse is not to be regarded lightly, through its fearsome, Black Ice corrupted stature.
7. Companion Hit Points are a slightly complicated statistic. Depending on the level, the quality and the type of Companion, your Companion could either be extremely bulky, or they could be a glass cannon. It goes without saying that a Legendary Companion will be bulkier than a mere Common Companion. How much will a Companion's Hit Point total increase if they get upgraded from Common all the way to Legendary?

Answer: 39%

Ultimately, Leader and Defender Companions who are Legendary will have the highest base HP total out of any Companion in the game. Augment and Controller Companions are among the frailer Companions in the game, with Augment Companions have a maximum of 400 base HP if Legendary. Typically, most Augment Companions are used as Active for their Active bonus, and will typically not see usage as Summoned Companions due to their lackadaisical or outright nonexistent combat presence.
8. The golden rule with any and all mounts: how many hits can an adventurer riding their mount take before being forced off of their mount?

Answer: Three

This doesn't tend to be a factor too, too often, but it will become a factor when traveling through the Jungle of Chult. In Chult, enemies are very, very fast and hit quickly as well. Upon drawing aggro, you've got about three seconds until you'll inevitably be unmounted. For Guardian Fighters, if you've got Knight's Valor active and are passing by an ongoing conflict, any damage Knight's Valor absorbs count as taking a hit. Having said that, if you're looking to quickly skim through an area for a quest of some sort, you may wish to turn Knight's Valor off.
9. You're a Devoted Cleric or a Guardian Fighter. You're looking for an Augment Companion that will help you boost your crucial HP score. Which Companion is the specific one for this job?

Answer: Energon

The Energon is quite literally built for this task, and this task only. It provides nothing in combat at all, but its Active bonus is providing the adventurer with a 5% boost to their HP. Given how important bulk is for Clerics and Guardian Fighters, and given how many spells the Cleric uses that are based off of its HP score, the Energon is a frequent with these two classes.
10. With regards to the trade market, which of the following serves as the most significant factor in deterring how much Astral Diamonds a mount is worth on the Tarmalune Auction House?

Answer: Quality (Common, Uncommon, Rare, etc)

Simply put, Legendary Mounts will always cost significantly more than non Legendaries. The cheapest Legendary, the Celestial Stag, sells for an average of 3.2-3.7M Astral Diamonds. Juxtaposing that, the most expensive non Legendary Mount, the Giant Crab, sells for a little bit less than one million Astral Diamonds on average. Beyond Legendaries, the other factors can be in play. Offering an example, the Gilded Giant Beetle is a Rare quality mount, but because the game commonly distributes these to players for free, it is worth very little on the Auction House. On the other hand, the Blue Ribbon Pig is a Common quality mount, but because it is only available in one event per year, it will command a noticeably higher amount of Astral Diamonds on the Auction House than fellow Common quality Mounts will.
