Samanosuke, the protagonist of the first "Onimusha" game, was the first to battle the Genma and succeed in defeating them. Although the demise of Fortinbras was a serious blow to the Genma, Samanosuke still had to face Nobunaga, and try to destroy the Genma. Upon victory, emperor Hideyoshi ordered the death of Samanosuke. Samanosuke was killed and a shrine in Kyoto, called the Akechi Tomb was built.

The gauntlet, which saved the life of Samanosuke in his first adventure was then given to his greatest student, Tenkai. But, was Tenkai Samanosuke all along?

Answer: Kaede

Kaede, Samanosuke's ally in the first "Onimusha" game, helps him battle the Genma onslaught. She escaped Inabayama Castle after Fortinbras was destroyed but lost her life in a battle fifteen years afterwards. Samanosuke's student, Tenkai, mentions the name of Kaede in "Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams", to emphasize the fact that he knew her, and he himself had feelings for her.

Answer: Jubei

Jubei, like his predecessor before him, battled an almost invincible Genma power. After defeating Nobunaga, Jubei settled back down at his hometown of Yagyu Village. After rebuilding the village, he regained his title of leader of the village, and began to teach would-be Samurai's the way of the Yagyu.

In the fourth "Onimusha" game, Jubei's granddaughter joins Soki in his fight to destroy Emperor Hideyoshi, and the reborn Genma.

Answer: Oichi

Oichi, or Oyu as the players of "Onimusha 2" are better acquainted with, was one of Jubei's allies in the fight against Nobunaga. She falls in love with Jubei, but Jubei remains neutral and tells her to be faithful to her husband. After the victory of Jubei, Oyu went back home, and lived a relatively peaceful life, until one day, Emperor Hideyoshi ordered the execution of the King of Odani.

Heartbroken, and unable to locate Jubei again, the shattered Oyu, took her own life.

Answer: Ekei

Although Ekei Ankokuji doesn't look like it, because of his weight problem, he is indeed the greatest at the Hozoin art of the spear. The reason behind his odd obsession for alcohol, was the untimely death of his beloved family. With that insult, Ekei vowed to destroy the Genma, but lost the will for battle.

The biggest fighting he'd participated in, after the incident, was a struggle with Magoichi. Jubei eventually restored Ekei's will to live, and restored his phenomenal fighting prowess.

Answer: Magoichi

Magoichi is a gunner who wields his own hand-designed weapon. He feels indebted to women because his mother died at a young age, and the women of Saiga Village raised him. Tokichiro Kinoshita, the foolish henchman of Nobunaga almost leads Jubei and Ekei to believe that Magoichi has been serving Nobunaga all along.

The player discovers that, that is definitely false, as he shows his hate for Nobunaga. Tokichiro tells Magoichi that his village will be attacked, so that is where Magoichi parted ways with Jubei. We learn that he survived in "Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams", when Ohatsu tells Soki that the person who taught her to fight was Magoichi.

Answer: Kotaro

Kotaro was an amusing ally to have with you in "Onimusha 2". If you choose him to be your ally, he gets killed by the Genma General, Gingamphatts, just minutes before Jubei goes to fight Nobunaga. Before meeting his end, Kotaro sees his mother, and learns the truth behind his abandonment. Apparently he was abandoned because the Genma were about to attack his village and his mother wanted to protect him by shaping him into a powerful warrior.

Answer: Jacques Blanc

Jacques was just an everyday police officer, who had a regular laid back life. Before the Genma attacked Paris, he had a loving son and a fellow police officer as a fiancee. After a strange dispatch led him to a war-zone, composed of Genma, Jacques lost his best friend and several good men, before being transported back in time.

There, with the help of Samanosuke, Jacques was able to destroy the Genma and return home.

Answer: Soki

Soki, another natural Onimusha like Jubei before him, is inevitably sent on a dangerous quest to kill the Genma King, Emperor Hideyoshi, and to destroy the Genma cherry trees, which are made of slain humans. Along the way he meets Tenkai, Samanosuke's student, Ohatsu, daughter of Oyu of Odani, Jubei, grand-daughter of Jubei Yagyu, and Roberto, a Spanish military experiment. Soki ends up destroying the Genma and restoring peace to the land, at the cost of his best friend, a divine being named Minokichi, and his own life.

Answer: Jubei

Jubei Yagyu is the grand-daughter of Jubei Yagyu, the hero of "Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny". Her name is Jubei because she is the most powerful warrior in her village. She ends up joining Soki, because she realizes that he is an Oni. The reason she wants to hunt down her uncle, is that he was once a great member of the Yagyu clan, but his hate for the old Jubei, ended up expelling him from the clan.

After that, he became pure evil. To restore the lost honor of the Yagyu, Jubei has to kill Munenori.
