1. Ekans

Answer: Poison

Ekans is a poison-type Pokémon that looks like a purple and yellow snake. It is from the first generation. It evolves into Arbok at level 22. In the video games, Ekans is a popular Pokémon among the bad guys, especially Team Rocket.

The Pokédex entry from "Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald" states, "Ekans curls itself up in a spiral while it rests. Assuming this position allows it to quickly respond to a threat from any direction with a glare from its upraised head."
2. Mareep

Answer: Electric

Mareep is an electric sheep Pokémon. It was introduced in generation two. It evolves into Flaaffy at level 15 and then into Ampharos at level 30. Mareep sometimes have the ability static, which can paralyze opponents in battles.

The "Diamond/Pearl" Pokédex says, "Its fluffy coat swells to double when static electricity builds up. Touching it can be shocking."
3. Poochyena

Answer: Dark

Poochyena is a dark-type Pokémon that looks like a dog. It is from generation three. It evolves into Mightyena at level 18. It is known as the "Bite Pokémon".

The "Ruby" Pokédex claims, "At first sight, Poochyena takes a bite at anything that moves. This Pokémon chases after prey until the victim becomes exhausted. However, it may turn tail if the prey strikes back."
4. Buizel

Answer: Water

Buizel is the "Sea Weasel Pokémon". It is from generation four. It has an orange body, blue fins on its arms, and two tails. Buizel evolves into Floatzel at level 26. Buizel often have high speed stats.

The Pokédex from "Diamond" says, "It has a flotation sac that is like an inflatable collar. It floats on water with its head out."
5. Vanillite

Answer: Ice

Vanillite is an ice-type Pokémon that looks like a vanilla ice cream cone. It was introduced in generation five. It evolves into Vanillish at level 35 before evolving into Vanilluxe at level 47. Vanillite is known as the "Fresh Snow Pokémon", which is also the name given to Glaceon, the ice-type evolution of Eevee.

The "Black" Pokédex explains, "The temperature of their breath is -58 °F. They create snow crystals and make snow fall in the areas around them."
6. Chespin

Answer: Grass

Chespin is the grass-type starter from generation six. It evolves into Quilladin at level 16 and then into Chesnaught at level 36. Chespin is known as the "Spiny Nut Pokémon". The other two starter Pokémon from the Kalos region are Fennekin and Froakie.

According to the Pokédex entry from "X", "The quills on its head are usually soft. When it flexes them, the points become so hard and sharp that they can pierce rock."
7. Growlithe

Answer: Fire

Growlithe is from generation one and looks similar to a dog. It will evolve into an Arcanine if a fire stone is used on it. With many game versions, Growlithe is exclusive to one game. For example, in "Red/Blue" it is only found in "Red". Because of this, it often has to be gotten through trade to be added to the Pokédex.

The "Diamond/Pearl" Pokédex says this about Growlithe, "A Pokémon with a loyal nature. It will remain motionless until it is given an order by its Trainer."
8. Aipom

Answer: Normal

Aipom is a normal-type Pokémon that looks like a purple monkey with a hand at the end of its tail. It is from generation two. In generation four, it was given an evolution. It will evolve into Ambipom if it is leveled up while knowing the move double hit. Aipom will sometimes have the ability pickup which allows it to find items when you walk with it in your party.

The "Ruby/Sapphire" Pokédex entry states, "Aipom's tail ends in a hand-like appendage that can be cleverly manipulated. However, because the Pokémon uses its tail so much, its real hands have become rather clumsy."
9. Wurmple

Answer: Bug

Wurmple is a red and yellow bug-type Pokémon that looks like a caterpillar. It was introduced in generation three. At level seven it will evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon. Silcon then evolves into Beautifly while Cascoon evolves into Dustox at level ten. Wurmple are often found in forests, such as Petalburg Woods and Eterna Forest.

The Pokédex entry from "Black/White" says, "Often targeted by bird Pokémon, it desperately resists by releasing poison from its tail spikes."
10. Chingling

Answer: Psychic

Chingling is a psychic-type Pokémon that looks like a bell. It was introduced in generation four, though the Pokémon it evolves into, Chimecho, is from generation three. Chingling will evolve into Chimecho if it leveled up at night with a high friendship level. To increase friendship, a player must use it in battles, not let it faint, feed it berries, and give it items to hold. Chingling are mostly found in caves.

The "HeartGold/SoulSilver" Pokédex claims, "It emits high-frequency cries that people can't hear. Once it starts, it can cry for an awfully long time."
