Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When we first meet Prosecutor Godot, he claims to have never once lost a case. Why is that?

Answer: He's a new prosecutor

Prosecutor Godot claims that he has never lost a case. Strictly speaking, this is true because the trial in which he first faces Phoenix is his first trial as a prosecutor. Of course, as he admits, this means he hasn't ever won a case, either.
2. One habit of Godot's annoys both Phoenix and the judge. What is it?

Answer: Spouting confusing metaphors

Godot has a habit of making cryptic statements and couching everything in terms of coffee, frequently confusing people with his nonsensical metaphors. At one point, Phoenix remarks, "Um, the rest of the court doesn't speak Coffeenese."
3. Godot loves coffee - the hotter and more bitter, the better - but he has put a self-imposed limit on the number of cups he will drink during a single trial. How many cups is that?

Answer: Seventeen

Godot is a coffee aficionado. He has 107 different personal blends. At first, the judge objected to allowing Godot to drink coffee during a trial, but he relented and allowed it. Phoenix was not so pleased, but that could be due to the fact that Godot tends to throw hot coffee at him when he makes an objection.
4. Godot is not fond of Phoenix Wright. He has a very unflattering nickname for him. What is it?

Answer: Mr. Trite

Godot intentionally says Phoenix's name wrong to belittle his skill as a defense attorney, calling him "Trite" instead. In the Japanese version of the game, he changes "Naruhodou" (a play on the phrase "I see") to "Maruhodou" with "maru" having the meaning "zero", intimating that Phoenix doesn't understand anything.
5. Before becoming a prosecutor, Godot was a defense attorney.

Answer: True

Godot used to work for Grossberg Law Offices as a defense attorney. He worked there with Mia Fey and acted as a sort of mentor to her.
6. Godot claims to have "died" once before. To what incident is he referring?

Answer: He was in a coma

Godot spent five years in a coma after being poisoned by a suspect in a murder trial. The poison did massive damage to his central nervous system. It wasn't expected that he would survive.
7. Due to damage to his eyes, Godot is almost totally blind. He wears a special mask which allows him to see, but the mask still has limitations. What is Godot not able to see?

Answer: He can't see the colour red

Godot's inability to see the colour red leads him to overlook evidence in two cases. First, in the trial of Maggey Byrde, he fails to notice the ketchup stain on her apron, and second, in the trial of Iris of Hazakura Temple, he does not see the message written in blood on the stone lantern which leads to him being convicted as the true murderer.
8. Five years ago, Godot nearly died because he was poisoned by someone. Who was that person?

Answer: Dahlia Hawthorne

Dahlia Hawthorne was a suspect in a murder trial. The trial was Mia Fey's first, and Godot, then a veteran defense attorney, helped her prepare for it. They did not manage to present sufficient evidence against her to convict her. However, Godot did not believe that Dahlia was truly innocent, and after her trial, he continued to investigate her. Fearing that her crime would be found out, Dahlia managed to slip poison into Godot's coffee.

She thought that would be the end of it, but only six months later, Dahlia was exposed as a murderer by Mia Fey and sentenced to death.
9. What phrase commonly associated with Mia Fey did she first hear from Godot?

Answer: "A lawyer is someone who smiles no matter how bad it gets."

Much of the advice that Mia gives Phoenix was first given to her by Godot when he was a senior defense attorney. However, some of these quotations come from others. "Our job is to find the truth, no matter how painful it may be," is something that Edgeworth said to Phoenix, and it was Phoenix who said, "No one can change the past.

The only thing we can do is strive to make up for our mistakes."
10. What is Prosecutor Godot's true name?

Answer: Diego Armando

Aside from being a reference to the famous play, "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett, the name Godot, as it is pronounced, is made up of the final syllables from the prosecutor's first and last names. This may or may not have been intentional on the part of the translation and localization team. His Japanese name, Kaminogi Soryuu, does not follow the same pattern.
