There's a small house on this route. The man inside will give you the Soot Sack so you can run around in the tall grass collecting ash for him to make flutes out of. Flutes are handy items; they heal certain conditions and can be used over and over again.

The Red Flute, for example, can snap a Pokémon out of its Attraction to another without having to switch or run away (there's no other in-battle cure for Attraction). There is also a small bit of ash covered grass on Jagged Pass, but that's not a route.

Answer: A Heart Scale

You can't just walk into a store and buy a Heart Scale, but they're not super rare either. One Heart Scale will get one of your Pokémon one move back.

Answer: Lanette

Lanette invented the Pokémon storage system in this game (unlike Bill who did it for the last two series). After she thanks you for using the system she invented, she'll run back to her house and the PC will be free again.

Answer: Lotad Doll ("Sapphire" version), Seedot Doll ("Ruby" version)

Dolls can be placed on Mats and Tables in your Secret Base, as well as in your room in Littleroot Town. There are many places around the map that you can buy decorations for your Secret Base.

Answer: Meteor Falls

Meteor Falls is a place where you can collect weird Pokémon. There are a few Dragon types here, as well as some spacey kinds like Lunatone ("Sapphire" version) and Solrock ("Ruby" version).

Answer: You meet your ally team leader

Your ally team (Team Aqua for "Ruby" and Team Magma for "Sapphire") is the one working against your enemy team. For example, If you're playing "Sapphire" then you'll be trying to stop Team Aqua from flooding the world, working with the land-loving Team Magma to stop them.

Answer: Verdanturf Town

Wally moved from Petalburg City to Verdanturf Town with his uncle and aunt where the air's cleaner (Wally was having some health problems before). There is not much to do here except the Normal Rank Pokémon Contest. Your Pokémon will have to win here before they can advance to the higher ranked contests.

Answer: Mt. Chimney

You can take the cable car back up to the top of Mt. Chimney as many times as you want. You'll want to come back here sometime because there will be some new trainers to defeat up here later.

Although there are a lot of enemy team members up here, a bunch of them will be engaged in heated battles against your ally team members. The first enemy team member you actually have to battle is a Grunt. After the Grunt comes an Admin, an enemy team member with a little more status and, therefore, a little harder. Finally there's your enemy team leader.

The leader will have a Mightyena, a Golbat and either a Sharpedo ("Sapphire version) or a Camerupt ("Ruby" version).

Answer: Jagged Pass

It'll take you a few times going through Jagged Pass to beat all the trainers, or the Acro Bike. The Acro Bike will allow you to hop on the small stones so you can hop back up to the top and take alternate paths down, grabbing every item and beating all the trainers. There is also two small patches of ash covered grass here.
