Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Just north of Mossdeep City is a small cave. What is its name?

Answer: Shoal Cave

There is a high tide and a low tide within the cave. During the high tide you can surf around the cave and look for Shoal Shells (four in all), as well as a Rare Candy and a Big Pearl. During low tide, you can find Ice Heal, Nevermeltice, and TM 07 (Hail), as well as four Shoal Salt. If you take the four Shoal Salt and four Shoal Shells to the man in the canter of the cave near the entrance, he'll make a Shell Bell, which works somewhat like Leftovers, it slowly gives the equipped Pokémon back some lost health after every turn.
2. Now head south of Mossdeep, with Dive and the badge to use it, and continue to track your enemy team. What is the name of your enemy team's new operation location?

Answer: Seafloor Cavern

You can't really call this place a base. It's a few enemy team members scattered throughout a series of caves. The Seafloor Cavern is a large underground seafloor cavern (go figure). In each of the sub-caverns you'll have to successfully solve a variety of increasingly difficult puzzles.
3. Who/what do you face at the bottom of your enemy team's underwater base?

Answer: Enemy Team Leader

There's nothing special about the Pokémon your enemy team leader brought along, but they will be difficult. A Mightyena, a Crobat, and Camerupt (for "Ruby") or a Sharpedo (for "Sapphire"). Once you have beaten your enemy team leader, however, he/she will use whichever orb they stole from Mt.Pyre to call upon the Pokémon sleeping at the bottom of the cave (Kyogre for "Sapphire" and Groudon for "Ruby").

The legendary Pokémon will awaken and then go away. Your enemy team's leader will be totally flabbergasted when the super Pokémon goes away, wondering why the orb didn't allow him/her to control Groudon/Kyogre.
4. Sootopolis City is inside a crater in a mountain in the middle of the sea. How do you enter the first time?

Answer: Dive Under

To get into Sootopolis you need to find the large island on Route 126. You'll notice a ring of dark water around it. A dark water spot means you can dive. Work your way to the southern part of the ring, and use Dive. You'll see a cave entrance. Go through it and you'll end up in a small underwater cavern. Use Dive again to resurface and you'll be in Sootopolis.
5. Cave of Origin is the place where you get to battle Groudon (in "Ruby") or Kyogre (in "Sapphire"). When you finally get down to its resting place, what happens before the battle?

Answer: The orb you have starts to glow

When you get to the bottom, the orb glows and fills the whole screen momentarily. After, there is silence as the giant Pokémon comes towards you and then the intense music comes on as the battle commences. The best way to deal with this Pokémon (capture it) is probably not to use the Master Ball, but to use a Heavy Ball or, what seems to be really effective, a Timer Ball. With the Timer Ball Scenario, Just paralyze it, and give a few other conditions if you can (but not Confusion, because it could easily know itself out). If you slowly chip away at its health, this will bring it into the red zone, and the Timer Ball's power (It gains more power for every turn taken) will be so strong, you'll be able to capture this Pokémon with only one ball thrown.
6. Okay, so let's say you have your Legendary Pokémon now (not as exciting as you thought it'd be?). Now you have to grab your eighth, and final badge. What do you have to do to get to the Gym Leader?

Answer: Walk across cracking ice

There are three levels made of ice. You can only step on a square once - this will crack the ice. If you step on it a second time, it'll break and you'll fall into a pit of trainers. The catch to this, however, is that every square of ice must be stepped on before you may advance to the next level; there is a certain way you have to cross the ice floors.
7. What kind of Pokémon does Wallace, the Gym Leader, use?

Answer: Water

Yeah, he uses Water type, not Ice (even after those floors). The Luvdisc, Sealao, and Seaking shouldn't be too much of a problem. The Whiscash, on the other hand, may be a little trickier. Wiscash is a Water/Ground so it was a double weakness to Grass, but it has powerful attacks such as Earthquake. Milotic, can also be a bit of a challenge.

It has strong attacks, it can take a beating, and it can recover HP. This, however, is nothing your persistence can't handle. Just throw everything you've got at them, and exploit all weaknesses.
8. What is the eighth badge called?

Answer: Rain Badge

The Rain Badge makes all Pokémon obey you and allows you to use Waterfall outside of battle. This should be your final badge, granting you access to the Pokémon League.
9. With all eight badges, you can go virtually anywhere on the map (apart from the Battle Tower, but that's a different story). Now, with everything open, why don't you go explore some of the other areas you missed? The Abandoned Ship, maybe? Can you remember which route it's on?

Answer: 108 (between Dewford Town and Slateport City)

All the trainers on the way to the Abandoned Ship are weak and hold little cash, so it doesn't make a difference which way you come from. All the trainers on the ship don't provide much of a challenge either, but the money does get a bit better.
10. On the Abandoned Ship, you'll find a scientist working. Which item will he ask you to find for him?

Answer: Scanner

You can battle the trainers in the first part of the ship, but to reach the scientist, you'll need Dive (you have that now). Once you actually find the Scanner and take it back to the scientist, he'll ask you to take it to Captain Stern. Stern will trade the Scanner for Deepseascale, or a Deepseatooth, you decide.
