"Rage" Characters Trivia Quiz

"Rage" was released in America on October 4, 2011. From the creators of "Doom" and "Quake", "Rage" offered a mostly first-person quest through a post apocalyptic Earth. This quiz covers some of the many characters from that multi-platform experience.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Our hero, whom we control throughout the gameplay experience, turned out to be an Ark survivor. Who was the first non-enemy character he encountered after leaving the malfunctioning life vessel?

Answer: Dan

After we maneuvered our main character out of his Ark and into the harsh light of a new world, he first encountered two enemies. They were Ghost Clan combatants who would have surely killed our hero if not for the fortunate arrival of Dan Hagar. Dan shot and killed the two enemies, and then offered us a ride back to his settlement. On the journey to Hagar territory, Dan offered a little explanation of what had changed since we (the hero) had been buried in our Ark. Life on Earth appeared to be bleak.

Former "Roseanne" star John Goodman voiced the role of Dan Hagar.
2. One of our early missions in the game was to gather buggy parts so that a mechanic named Durar (nickname DR) could repair our very first vehicle. DR sent us over to the Outrigger settlement to see a man, who then sent us deep into the Wasted Garage. Who was the mechanic from Outrigger who sent us into the Wasted Garage for stolen buggy parts?

Answer: Johan

Johan explained to us that he'd happily give us the parts for free, but they'd been stolen by the Wasted Clan. He sent us down to the Wasted Garage, and said to head straight back to DR after they'd been collected. Just a bit earlier, Rikter sent us out to repair a radio tower, Ramos offered us $100 to send off a warning rocket and Janus had us look for a missing Outrigger man named Juno.
3. As an Ark inhabitant, we had been implanted with an internal defibrillator. Which wise and inquisitive character sent us into the Dead City to find an upgrade for this life saving add-on?

Answer: Dr. Kvasir

As we played along, if we became too badly injured in the game we'd be left on the verge of death. Then, our internal defibrillator would kick on and we had the chance to restore our health once, before we had to wait for the life saving device to recharge.

After a trip to Dr. Kvasir, he then sent us out to face the challenge of the Dead City. This was the location of many Authority based Mutant experiments. The Authority claimed to the people of Earth that a radioactive fall-out had caused the mutations, but many people long believed that was fear calming propaganda.

Inside the Dead City, we found the upgrade that would allow us two defibrillator uses before a recharge was necessary. On easy mode, even one use of the device was hardly needed with cautious and patient game play, but on normal it seemed to be needed more frequently.
4. After we'd helped many people living in the safer zones, we were sent out to the town of Wellspring. Once we'd settled in a bit we met a man named Mick. What was Mick's most helpful contribution to us as a player?

Answer: He owned the garage

Wellspring was a little farther out from the location where our Ark had emerged. It was most definitely in a less safe zone than the Hagar and Outrigger settlements. We encountered bandit cars patrolling the roads and sentry towers that sprayed gunfire down upon you as you passed by them. We could knock the towers down by running a well armored vehicle into them, but the cars would reappear time and again, offering monies to destroy them, coming to us in various ways. Mick housed and repaired all of our vehicles in his garage, and could even tow us back to Wellspring if our car was too badly damaged or stuck in a rut/hole.
5. Dr. Kvasir would eventually send us into the Second Chance Bar to meet his contact in the Resistance. Elizabeth had been sitting there awhile as we played, but she would not speak to us without Kvasir's recommendation. Which character listed was not directly connected to Elizabeth and the Resistance?

Answer: JK Stiles

JK Stiles was a game show host. He hosted the wildly popular Mutant Bash TV show. You could see ads for the show on TV screens in the Second Chance Bar. We were sent to his studio to gain sponsorship to run a required road race. We needed a Caprino to satisfy Wellspring's Sheriff Black.

He was not willing to let us sacrifice our own life to run an errand for him without making sure we had a vehicle that would at least save the precious supplies. In order to gain the sponsorship from the ridiculous JK Stiles, we had to agree to film an episode of 'Mutant Bash TV' - as a contestant! It was like that movie "The Running Man", fight the baddies for the folks watching at home, and kill or be killed. Once we made it out alive, we had our sponsorship to win the Caprino.
6. What was the name of the man who oversaw the swamp in the Wastelands?

Answer: Crazy Joe

We were sent out to meet Crazy Joe by a man named Richard. He was an older gentlemen who seemed to spend all of his time inside the bar in Wellspring. He needed a flower to mix with ingredients he already had, in order to concoct a medicine for his ailing wife.

This was one of the game's side missions. Once we retrieved the ingredient, Richard gave us one of the recipes needed in order to gain 100 percent game completion.
7. One of the few women seen in Wellspring was a bartender named Sally. What did she offer to pay us to do, a job that could be repeated every time we went out into the Wasteland?

Answer: Destroy Bandit cars

After talking it over with her, all we had to do was agree to help her "keep the roads safe". For every car we destroyed, she'd give us $10 and 1 racing certificate. Those certificates, also gained by placing in the top three spots in street races, were redeemable for vehicle upgrades.
8. Was it Mayor Clayton that sent us out to rescue Captain Marshall from the Authority Prison?

Answer: No

Nope, the town's officials were too concerned about town survival and keeping peace with the Authority to ever offer a mission that controversial. It was the dear doctor, Elizabeth Cadence, who asked for our help in rescuing Captain Marshall before the Authority could transfer him to Capital Prime in the Eastern Wastelands.

After we pulled off that little 'mind blowing' caper, we would join the Resistance and travel to Subway Town with the captain. If you played the game, you'd know why I quoted the words mind blowing.
9. Who was the mayor of Subway Town?

Answer: Redstone

Mayor Redstone was quite a hard man. Captain Marshall explained to us when we arrived in town that we'd need to gain the mayor's influence in order to be of any use to the fight. So, we went up and began offering ourselves as a human shield between the hoards of mutants and the town. Redstone was a short bald man with a rough and tough exterior that included a tattooed head.

He sort of reminded me of an American Bulldog. The incorrect options are all characters from the "Resident Evil" gaming franchise.
10. For some reason my favorite character turned out to be the giant Mutant from inside the Dead City. Which weapon was required to kill that creature, which stood as tall as some city buildings?

Answer: Rocket launcher

The answer to this one is probably a gimme to any long time gamer, even if they hadn't played "Rage" yet. It always takes an impressive weapon to kill the biggest of the baddies. The weapon was located in the game in the same area in which the big monster appeared. You'd get it and 10-12 rockets, but three more would appear down below whenever you'd need more.

It took 7 direct hits in his special areas to kill him on both easy and normal difficulty levels, but he did seem a little bit less aggressive on easy.

When you had to come back to Dead City and go through backward for Captain Marshall, you could still see him slumped over dead in the same location. Overly, I truly enjoyed the game and look forward to a sequel. But, I was a bit surprised on how quickly I got through the game and how easy the bad guys were to kill. No big bad at the end like I'd come to expect in monster RPGs, which I felt left "Rage" a bit lacking. I liked the story line, and expect part two to be even better. Playing without many side missions and end game oriented had me just at 13 hours.

When I went back to achieve 100 percent game play, that was about 16 hours.
