Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Introduced in "City of Villains", this evil-doer, life-syphoning, vengeful signora was the leader of a deadly spider-themed faction called Widows, a subset of the Arachnos organization. Her real name was Belladonna Vetrano, but by what alias was she better known?

Answer: Ghost Widow

She was killed during a military operation but was able to exact revenge as a wrathful spirit. Lord Recluse saw the opportunity of gaining an eternal, duty-bound ally and successfully changed what bound her to the world of the living (vengeance) to instead being anchored to Arachnos itself. Thus, Ghost Widow is reluctantly compelled to follow him forever, as one of his four main "lieutenants" until Arachnos ceases to exist.
2. In "Bioshock Infinite", when you win the raffle at Raffle Square, you realize that the horrific prize is to stone to death a tied-up interracial couple to the cheer of the extremely racist Columbia denizens. What are you asked to throw at them (or you can choose to throw it at the raffle host)?

Answer: A baseball

Whether you decide to throw the baseball at the couple, the host or run out of time while you are in shock at what the game is asking you to do, the guards at the raffle glimpse a strange marking in your hand and accuse you of being the infamous False Shepherd, a situation you can only resolve with violence.

This scene is likely to be the very first chance in the game to get an uncomfortable, intimate taste of the rampant injustices to be found in the allegedly superior community of Columbia.

If you attempt to throw the baseball at the raffle host, you will encounter the couple once again during your adventures and they'll reward you for it.
3. In "Kingdom Hearts II", Roxas and Sora can find these in multiple worlds, which they can use to move around faster or to participate in mini-games such as Street Rave, Freestyle, Time Attack, Sand Slider, Workshop Rave and Mail Delivery. What are they?

Answer: Skateboards

High scores in many of these mini-games is required if you want to complete Jiminy's Journal, and yes, you can perform tricks while riding them.

The Playstation 3 trophies for both remixes of the game have a difficult Pro Skater Trophy that requires you to obtain 5,000 points with skateboard tricks without touching the ground. If you didn't feel like acing the challenge the hard way, you could just skate and jump back and forth between parallel rails in some areas, just performing the same motions for a period of time. Youtube videos showcasing the "one-trick ad nauseam" solution came out quickly enough to save many gamers from the skateboarding frustration.
4. What's the name of the Roman centurion main character in the Xbox One's launch title "Ryse: Son of Rome"?

Answer: Marius Titus

There was a famous Roman consul and general named Gaius Marius, but Ryse's Marius Titus has no direct resemblance to any actual historical figure; however, the game does have historical characters such as the Roman Emperor Nero and the Celtic warrior queen Boudica, who both serve as the enemies for Marius to overcome in his quest for vengeance.

Since this is an alternate history game where Celts have war elephants and are able to storm Rome by surprise, don't expect to actually learn much from its story.
5. In "Lost Planet 2", the horned, multi-tongued, giant monster known as Gordiant, is fought in the third chapter of Episode 1, but that didn't stop it from becoming the flagship monster of the title, as it had already acquired a fandom (who affectionately called it "Sir Om Nom Nom") by being the first official boss revealed for the game. What type of creature does it resemble?

Answer: A salamander

At Comic-Con 2009, Capcom had a playable demo of the game and a raffle to win Gordiant plushies of different sizes (even one that was 3 feet long), which became highly collectible after that.

Another couple of reasons for Gordiant standing out among its peers is that his fight was featured in the demo of the game and it was flexible enough that he could be beaten through different strategies, including going inside its mouth and wreaking havoc on its innards.
6. This "Doom"-like first person shooter was released in late 1996 for the Sega Saturn and the Playstation a couple months later, and it was developed by Lobotomy Software, which also ported "Quake" and "Duke Nukem 3D" for the Saturn. It was known as "Exhumed" in the European market, and it had an Egyptian setting where you fought mysterious forces consisting of mummies, Anubis soldiers, scorpions, Bastet-like teleporting warriors and not very Egyptian giant piranhas. What game is this?

Answer: "PowerSlave"

In Japan, it had yet another name: "A.D. 1999: Pharaoh's Revival".

The non-American titles refer to the evil creatures known as Kilmaat exhuming the mummy of King Ramses to drain the pharaoh's power, but the spirit of Ramses works against them by guiding you throughout the game, with the goal of retrieving his mummified corpse and eliminating the Kilmaat.
7. In which game, does a redheaded, female blacksmith named Alya give you a ranged weapon named "Redemption" after you prove your worth?

Answer: "Darksiders II"

Alya is one of the Makers, a powerful and old faction that likes to create and build things of legendary craftsmanship while remaining neutral in the ongoing war.

While she can sell you weapons and armor presumably crafted by her, the weapon she gives you as a reward for reopening their forge for business, is one of your brother's revolvers, yet she does not explain how Strife's gun landed in her possession.
8. Which of these is not a "Harvest Moon" game?

Answer: "Harvest Moon: Sunny Paradise"

"Back to Nature" came out in 1999 for the Playstation.

"Friends of Mineral Town" is the remade version of the above, releasing in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance.

"Frantic Farming" hit the Nintendo DS in 2009.

There's an "Island of Happiness" and a "Sunshine Island", but no "Sunny Paradise" franchise entry yet.
9. In "League of Legends", though sometimes they are furry (usually males) or have smooth, blue skin (more often in the females), they are all very, very short in stature, but definitely big in character. Legends such as Corki, Heimerdinger, Lulu, Kennen, Poppy, Rumble, Teemo, Tristana, Veigar and Ziggs are all examples of this particular species. What are they?

Answer: Yordles

Apparently, the word "Yordle" came to Riot Games' Paul Bellezza in a dream, probably associating it with the Star Wars' character of Yoda.

Moogles are from the "Final Fantasy" video game series and Murlocs come from the "Warcraft" franchise.
10. In game terminology, what is "kiting"?

Answer: Keeping an enemy far enough that they can't hit you but close enough that you can hit them with your ranged attacks all the while making them chase you.

An example would be in "World of Warcraft", where some bosses or powerful enemies need to be taken out of the area for a while as the rest of the party deals with a different threat, so they would assign a hunter or similarly ranged class to provoke the kiting target and keep them invested in them without dying, stringing them along with ranged attacks as if they were a harmless, angry kite until they could be properly dealt with.

Kiting is different from "pulling", which is just provoking a particular enemy or group of enemies in a highly dangerous area and bringing it to a safer location where you can focus on them without running the risk of suddenly being attacked by other enemies or groups that would quickly overwhelm you.
