Question 1 of 10
1. Perhaps the ultimate hand weapon in the game is the DC-17m ICWS (Interchangeable Weapons System) as it literally is an arsenal all on it's own. Which of these is not one of the attachments used on it during the game? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. This is the first weapon you pick up on Geonosis and you use it to destroy a gun emplacement. It's most famous appearance was in "Return of the Jedi" when a disguised Leia used it in her "negotiations" with Jabba the Hutt. What is this weapon? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. This weapon is individually crafted and no two are exactly alike. It's appearance resembles a real world crossbow, though it certainly doesn't fire the same kind of ammo. What is it? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Of all the weapons you can carry, this one is great if your trying to save ammo and don't mind getting in close to most enemies. Extending from your armor, it let's you quickly dispatch an enemy but puts you at great risk to taking damage. What is this extreme close-range weapon? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. What is the first secondary weapon you can pick up in the game? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. What unique feature does the DC-15s Side Arm Blaster have that no other weapon in the game has? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. This Trandoshan weapon doesn't have to hit it's target to deal damage. It's shot does damage through an explosive wave that harms everything it touches, though it doesn't actually use explosives like the anti-armor attachment does. What is this weapon? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. This massive hand weapon can be dumb-fired or locked on for more of a homing projectile. It is the only way to take out the Kachirho bridge. What is it? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. This is not a weapon you can pick up and use later on, but it is one you can interact with. To do so you need to crouch down and approach it while hoping no one approaches in an upright position. Then simply deactivate it. What is this weapon? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Ok, for the final question I'm gonna go with a little change of pace. Trandoshans use Accelerated Charged Particle (ACP) Array Guns, ACP Repeaters, LS-150 Heavy ACP Repeaters, and LJ-50 Concussion Rifles. According to one of the video extras, these weapons are described as "brutal but" what? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Perhaps the ultimate hand weapon in the game is the DC-17m ICWS (Interchangeable Weapons System) as it literally is an arsenal all on it's own. Which of these is not one of the attachments used on it during the game?

Answer: PEP (Pulsed Energy Projectile) attachment

Although the manual calls the DC-17m a Modifiable Blaster Rifle, other sources have called it an Interchangeable Weapons System. And perhaps with good reason as swapping out an attachment transforms the DC-17m into a different weapon.

So far we've been introduced to four attachments, the blaster, sniper, anti-armor, and PEP attachments. But of these four, the first three appear it the game. The PEP attachment was introduced in the novel "Republic Commando: Triple Zero," the events of which occur just before the Kashyyyk levels of the game. It gives clone commandos a stun attachment to use when their mission profile requires capture instead of mere elimination.
2. This is the first weapon you pick up on Geonosis and you use it to destroy a gun emplacement. It's most famous appearance was in "Return of the Jedi" when a disguised Leia used it in her "negotiations" with Jabba the Hutt. What is this weapon?

Answer: Thermal Detonator

Thermal detonators are also used in games such as Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. One noticeable difference between how their used in "Republic Commando" and the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series is that the latter tends to give two modes to the thermal detonator depending on the control the player uses when throwing it. One control button results in explosion on impact, a second is a delayed explosion.
3. This weapon is individually crafted and no two are exactly alike. It's appearance resembles a real world crossbow, though it certainly doesn't fire the same kind of ammo. What is it?

Answer: Bowcaster

Though the Wookiee bowcaster looks primitive in comparison to most "modern" Star Wars weapons, it actually is rather high-tech and on par with blasters. It made an appearance in four of the movies, numerous games, and several books and comics. In "Republic Commando" the bowcaster provides you with a second sniper weapon, great for when you run out of ammo in the sniper attachment. Too bad it eats up ammo at a pretty high rate.
4. Of all the weapons you can carry, this one is great if your trying to save ammo and don't mind getting in close to most enemies. Extending from your armor, it let's you quickly dispatch an enemy but puts you at great risk to taking damage. What is this extreme close-range weapon?

Answer: Knuckle Plate Vibro Blade

Nice and fast, but only in close, the knuckle plate vibro blade quickly extends from one of your gloves to stab your victim before instantly retracting. If you're looking to conserve ammo and don't want to switch from your DC-17m to any one of your secondary weapons, this is a great weapon to use. One or two stabs with this weapon seems to usually be enough to take down battle droids, Trandoshan mercenaries, Trandoshan slavers, and Geonosian warriors.

But super battle droids and droidekas take a lot more stabbing to take down and are much more likely to deal you some damage before they go. Geonosian elites, spider droids, and Trandoshan heavy mercenaries are folks that you really shouldn't try this with.
5. What is the first secondary weapon you can pick up in the game?

Answer: Geonosian Elite Beam Weapon

I did say that you can pick up, not the first secondary weapon you're equipped with. The DC-15s is actually the first secondary weapon in your inventory, but you start off with it as soon as you land on Geonosis. ACP Repeaters don't appear until you have Trandoshans to deal with. And thermal detonators are an explosive weapon, not a secondary weapon. Thus the Geonosian elite beam weapon is the first secondary weapon you can pick up.

Of all the secondary weapons, the beam weapon is perhaps the most unique. Rather than firing individual rounds at a target, it fires a constant stream of energy for as long as you keep the fire button depressed. It also has a set of "fingers" that make an annoying clacking sound when you've got it out and are not firing.
6. What unique feature does the DC-15s Side Arm Blaster have that no other weapon in the game has?

Answer: Infinite ammo

After the knuckle plate vibro blade, the DC-15s is the best choice for saving ammo due to it's self-charging dynamic energy cell. This gives it an infinite ammo capacity, but it does have a significant drawback that places it after the knuckle plate vibro blade in terms of ammo conservation. And that's the recharge rate on it's energy cell. If you empty it's "clip" too fast, it's going to take a little bit to recharge to full count. Though if you don't mind a slightly slower rate of fire, you can keep firing it as it is recharging.
7. This Trandoshan weapon doesn't have to hit it's target to deal damage. It's shot does damage through an explosive wave that harms everything it touches, though it doesn't actually use explosives like the anti-armor attachment does. What is this weapon?

Answer: LJ-50 Concussion Rifle

"Republic Commando" was not the first time a concussion rifle was used in a Star Wars video game. In fact the Stouker concussion rifle, which works in much the same way, made it's first appearance in 1995's "Dark Forces" and would go on to appear in other Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games.
8. This massive hand weapon can be dumb-fired or locked on for more of a homing projectile. It is the only way to take out the Kachirho bridge. What is it?

Answer: Wookiee Guided Rocket Launcher

The Wookiee guided rocket launcher is perhaps the biggest, most powerful hand weapon in the game. In fact the character you play (RC-1138/Boss) makes a comment on it being nearly his size. By simply pulling the trigger you let a rocket fly in dumb-fire mode. Or hold the trigger a little longer to lock on to your target and the rocket will home in your target.
9. This is not a weapon you can pick up and use later on, but it is one you can interact with. To do so you need to crouch down and approach it while hoping no one approaches in an upright position. Then simply deactivate it. What is this weapon?

Answer: Proximity Mine

Ah, a lovely little landmine type weapon. The proximity mine is set off by, well, proximity to the mine. In this case when you see the mine you also see a red circle that shows you how close you can get before you set it off. But interestingly, the mine's sensors can't pick you up if you're crouched. Thus by crouching you can approach the mine to deactivate it.

There is only one time when you get to actually use the proximity mine, and that is during one of the Kashyyyk missions. Here you activate a mine field and use it to take out some droids.

Answer: "badly engineered."

In the Concept Art video it is said that Trandoshan weapons were viewed by the designers as being "brutal but badly engineered." It also goes on to say that they had built in fire extinguishers for when they malfunctioned. Certainly it seems like some of these weapons jam forcing you to take the time to unjam them before firing again, and thus being put in danger while doing so.

In contrast, the video claims DC-17m used by the Republic commandos was seen as being "efficient, adaptable, and absolutely deadly."
