Question 3 of 10

Do you know which one I'm talking about? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. If you want to get rid of all of the toxic water in Chozo Ruins, you'll have to defeat the main boss of Chozo Ruins: a very huge plant called Flaahgra. Along with cleansing the water, you'll get a very important upgrade for trimming down this overgrown weed, but which one is it? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. By heading to the Observatory in Phendrana Drifts, you can get your hands on the Super Missile charge combo, which will combine five missiles and a fully charged Power Beam shot to create a super powerful blast. Along with the Morph Ball Bombs, you'll need another upgrade to finish the little puzzle there to get it. Which one is it? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. After defeating Thardus, the main boss of Phendrana Drifts, you get the Spider Ball, which allows you to roll along the magnetic tracks located throughout Tallon IV while in Morph Ball mode. In order to defeat Thardus, though, you'll need a certain upgrade. Do you know which one it is? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Ah, the Ice Beam. Such a welcome sight for any "Metroid" veteran. When you find it, you can open White Ice Beam Doors and freeze certain enemies for a short period of time. But where can you find it? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. To get to Phazon Mines, you'll have to go through the crashed Pirate Frigate. However, much of it is hard to go through, due to it being flooded by water. Thankfully, you'll find this upgrade to help remedy this. Which one am I talking about? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. The fourth beam in the game is the powerful Plasma Beam, which can easily cut through enemies with its shots of high-temperature plasma. You can find the Plasma Beam in Plasma Processing, but where does the in-game hint system point you to so you can find it? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. The main boss of Phazon Mines is an incredibly-overgrown, Phazon-dependent Space Pirate known simply as the Omega Pirate. He's tough, but with perseverance and cunning, you can put this guy out of action. What upgrade do you get for defeating this beast? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Samus starts the game entering the Space Pirate Frigate with several of her Power Suit upgrades, but then loses most of them on her way off it. Which one of these upgrades does Samus NOT lose?

Answer: Scan Visor

Although you'd think that Samus would keep the Varia Suit, Missile Launcher, and Morph Ball, she actually loses these upgrades along with most of the others. Samus will only keep the Power Suit, the Power Beam, and her two Visors, which consist of the Combat Visor and the Scan Visor.
2. When Samus arrives on Tallon IV, there's an upgrade that's not very far away from the Landing Site, in Tallon Overworld. Which one is it?

Answer: Space Jump Boots

You can find the Space Jump Boots in the room called Alcove, and the door to it happens to be on the ledge right behind your ship. Unfortunately, it's too high for you to reach right when you land on Tallon IV, although some very resourceful players can get it at that time. You can find the X-Ray Visor in Tallon Overworld as well, but you can't get it until much later on in the game, and it's on the other side of Tallon Overworld.

The Missle Launcher and Morph Ball can both be found in Chozo Ruins.
3. Samus's Power Beam is great for taking out a small group of weak enemies, like Beetles, but it lacks overall power (ironic, huh?). Fortunately, the Missile Launcher can pack a punch, and not only is it the first upgrade that you can find, but it's also not very hard to find. Only if that one enemy boss wasn't in the way. Do you know which one I'm talking about?

Answer: Hive Mecha

The Hive Mecha guards the Missile Launcher in the Hive Totem room in Chozo Ruins. It will send out very fast Ram War Wasps to attack you, since it can't attack you on it's own. Not only that, but you'll be standing on a platform surrounded by toxic water which can drain your energy very quickly if you're not careful. Only by shooting into the glowing red opening that will appear on it after you clear the room of Ram War Wasps can you defeat it and drain the room.

The Plated Beetle guards the Morph Ball, while the Incinerator Drone guards over the Morph Ball Bombs, both of which are in Chozo Ruins.

The Sheegoth guards the Wave Beam, located in Phendrana Drifts.

Answer: Varia Suit

You'll finally get the Varia Suit after defeating Flaahgra in the Sunchamber room of Chozo Ruins, and you'll need it in order to safely travel in Magmoor Caverns. The Thermal Visor and Boost Ball aren't guarded by a boss. As for the Screw Attack, you can't find it in this game...unfortunately.

Answer: Boost Ball

The Spinners near the base of the mechanism at the bottom of the room can only be activated by the Boost Ball. As for the Grapple Beam, Spider Ball, and Power Bombs, you still haven't found them yet at this point in the game.

Answer: Thermal Visor

Thardus's weak spots can only been seen by the Thermal Visor, which will highlight them as a yellowish-orangish color. You haven't found the Plasma Beam yet, although it would most certainly make this battle much easier. The Boost Ball can be used to avoid its rolling attack, and the Morph Ball Bombs probably wouldn't be such a good idea for this boss.
7. Ah, the Ice Beam. Such a welcome sight for any "Metroid" veteran. When you find it, you can open White Ice Beam Doors and freeze certain enemies for a short period of time. But where can you find it?

Answer: Chozo Ruins

You'd think that the Ice Beam would've been hidden in Phendrana Drifts, the ice region. However, the Ice Beam is indeed hidden in Chozo Ruins, in a room called Antechamber. It's in the far end of the Chozo Ruins, and will be quite the trek to get to. Hope you found a good number of Energy Tanks.
8. To get to Phazon Mines, you'll have to go through the crashed Pirate Frigate. However, much of it is hard to go through, due to it being flooded by water. Thankfully, you'll find this upgrade to help remedy this. Which one am I talking about?

Answer: Gravity Suit

You'll find the Gravity Suit in Phendrana Drifts, just before you are alerted of the distress beacon coming from the crashed frigate. It will allow you to move through water as if you were walking on dry land, and it will allow you to see better underwater a little bit, too. You would have found the Space Jump Boots by now; you can get them right after getting the Boost Ball.

As for the Grapple Beam and Power Bombs, you STILL haven't found those yet, but they are coming up shortly after clearing the crashed frigate, though, so just hold on a little longer for them.
9. The fourth beam in the game is the powerful Plasma Beam, which can easily cut through enemies with its shots of high-temperature plasma. You can find the Plasma Beam in Plasma Processing, but where does the in-game hint system point you to so you can find it?

Answer: Geothermal Core

After finding the Grapple Beam in Phazon Mines (finally) and then the X-Ray Visor in Tallon Overworld, the in-game hint system should alert you about seismic activity in Magmoor Caverns, in the Geothermal Core room. By solving the puzzle there, you'll be able to enter Plasma Processing, where you can get the Plasma Beam.

The Antechamber has the Ice Beam, and the Chapel of the Elders has the Wave Beam. The Wavebuster (Wave Beam Charge Combo) can be found in the Tower of Light.
10. The main boss of Phazon Mines is an incredibly-overgrown, Phazon-dependent Space Pirate known simply as the Omega Pirate. He's tough, but with perseverance and cunning, you can put this guy out of action. What upgrade do you get for defeating this beast?

Answer: Phazon Suit

Technically, you also get the Phazon Beam with the Phazon Suit, but you can't use it until the final boss battle. After defeating the Omega Pirate, he will fall right on top of Samus and begin to deteriorate into a puddle of Phazon. However, instead of killing Samus, the Phazon energy will instead infuse itself with the Power Suit, giving Samus the ability to walk through blue Phazon (there is red Phazon that will hurt you regardless).

The Flamethrower and Ice Spreader aren't guarded by a boss. Although the Annihilator Beam is guarded by a boss, it isn't the Omega Pirate; heck, the Annihilator Beam isn't even found in this game.
