Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the Beast's Level 2 player unit?

Answer: Stalker

The stalker is more powerful than the Scavenger, the basic (level 1) unit, but not as feared as the powerful Predator (Level 3 unit). However, to conserve resources, some commanders will not research Stalkers, preferring to skip straight to Preds. Mudents are Non-player characters.
2. You are commanding the human side in a game and want to build a shield tower for your base. How much red stone and gold do you need to build one from scratch?

Answer: 500 stone and 4500 gold

To build the basic defensive arrow tower, you need 250 stone and 1500 gold. To upgrade that to a shield tower, you need a further 250 stone and 3000 gold. Shield towers are expensive, but provide extra protection for all buildings within range, making them MUCH harder to destroy. So shield towers are well worth the investment!
3. Savage has keyboard shortcuts which allow players to use phrases or commands in the game. If you were one of the fighters, what phrase would your player say if you pressed "V" then "5" and then "7"?

Answer: Build defenses here!

It's a good idea to point out any weak spots in your team's defenses to your commander and this is the way to do it. "Help" is V/2/6, "Cover me" is V/3/4 and "Their lair is burning" is V/6/7.
4. Bunker is one of the most played maps in the game, but which version of Bunker has a huge crater in the middle of it as though it has been devastated by a massive explosion or meteorite?

Answer: Aftermath

The inclusion of player-created maps has helped to broaden the variety of games played in "Savage". While there are often standard tactics to use in given maps, minor adaptations and variations on the themes can require radically different strategies.
5. What is the name of the Beast's feared Entropy device that allows units to enter an archway in one part of the map, and be instantaneously transported so that they exit another archway in a completely different area of the map?

Answer: Gate

The Gate is the Beast superweapon. While it doesn't actually damage anything, it does allow Beasts to appear at almost any place in the map. Clever use of Gates can turn a game around in seconds for the Beasts, enabling dozens of massive Behomoths to appear inside the Humans' base and reduce it to rubble in less than a minute.
6. It's a massive ape-like creature, but what is the name of the biggest NPC in "Savage"?

Answer: Konga

I hope you didn't choose Charles! Konga is the biggest NPC in "Savage". Despite this, he's surprisingly easy to kill, assuming you dodge the boulders he throws at you!
7. You are commanding the Beast team, and you decide that you want to get siege units as fast as possible. In what order would you make these buildings?

Answer: Nexus, Level 2 Lair upgrade, Charm

You need Nexus (which provides melee weapons) first. Only once you have constructed that can you upgrade your Lair to level 2, and only once you have upgraded the Lair can you construct the Charm building, which allows you research the beast siege units, the Summoner, and the mighty Behemoth.
8. Talking of Behemoths, if a player wants to "buy" one, how much gold do they cost?

Answer: 8500

The Behemoth is the biggest player character in the game. It wields an uprooted tree as a weapon and is capable of flattening most buildings with just a few hits.
9. What are the smallest Non-Player Characters in the game called?

Answer: Chiprels

Chiprels are small; they look like small beavers. Irritate them and they throw stones at you! Monkits are like chimps, Oschores are like small ostriches, and Bearloths are similar to Gorillas.
10. Who makes "Savage"?

Answer: S2 Games

Although they all produce great games, Activision, Sierra and Infogrames weren't involved with "Savage". They have made "Savage" available to download free, and it costs nothing to play online. So if you've not tried it, here's your chance! Try it - you may just like it!
