Temples Of Symphonia - Light Trivia Quiz

This is the fourth quiz in my series on the temples in "Tales Of Symphonia" for the Gamecube. This quiz focuses on the Temple of Light - the Tower of Mana, and is on all aspects of all visits to the temple. May contain spoilers.

1. Which of the following is one of the areas where you can collect the key to the Tower of Mana?

Answer: Hima

When you first try to enter the Tower of Mana, your party notice that there is no Oracle Stone, as there was at the other Seals. While in Hima, the party encounters Clara again, and saves her from a group of tormentors. As Clara flees, she drops the key to the Tower. You can also pick up the key from near the Balacruf Mausoleum, if you take the different, more difficult route through the game.

2. The party splits into two groups when they first enter the Tower of Mana. Lloyd heads the first group. Assuming that Lloyd only gets to choose one character to go with him, the second group will automatically be headed by another party member. Who leads the second group?

Answer: Raine

In order for the party to enter the internal areas of the Tower of Mana, three people must stand in certain areas on the floor to open the door. Raine stays behind to help keep the floor open. Colette must accompany Lloyd through the Tower, because she needs to break the seal, and you can choose one other character to join you.

The other two characters remain with Raine and form the second group.

3. What is in the first chest you can find as Lloyd's party?

Answer: Armet Helm

The Armet Helm is in a chest at the top of the stairs, after you fight the creature holding the Memory Gem. The Moon Robe and Lunar Guard can be found in the room with the three spheres and four blocks, when you are controlling Raine's team, and the Stinger Ring is in the next room you enter after this.

4. How many times do you switch teams during your first visit to the Tower of Mana?

Answer: 2 Times

You switch from Lloyd's team to Raine's team when you examine the device in the room with the faded Memory Circle. You switch back from Raine's team to Lloyd's team after Raine's team crosses the bridge of light. After this, the teams rejoin, and continue to the Seal Chamber.

5. In the Seal Chamber, you must defeat the Guardian of Light, Iuabaris. Which of the following is NOT one of the elements that Iuabaris is strong against?

Answer: Water

Iubaris is a large, black, horse-like creature, that is very difficult to defeat (well, I had trouble with it!). The Guardian's only weakness is Darkness, and it takes reduced damage from light, lightning, and fire. After the battle, Luna will appear and ask you to find Aska for her.

6. As you leave the Tower of Mana, after defeating Iuabaris, which key item do you pick up?

Answer: Boltzman's Book

Boltzman's Book contains a record of all of Boltzman's healing arts, but before Raine can perform the spells within it, she needs a unicorn horn. The Secret Notebook is a key item from Mizuho, which serves no purpose other than to complete the collector's book.

The Sacred Stone is used to seal evil, and is obtained from Derris-Kharlan. The Desian Orb is found in Hima, and is used to gain entry to the Asgard Human Ranch.

7. The party need to revive the Linkite Tree in order to find Aska. This requires the Unicorn Horn, the Linkite Nut, and which other item?

Answer: Exsphere Shard

The Exsphere Shard and the Unicorn Horn are used to strengthen Raine's magic, to allow her to revive the tree. Gnome helped by making the soil fertile once more. By reviving the tree, making the Linkite Ocarina, and using Sylph to help the sound travel, the party released Aska, who flew off to join Luna.

8. When the party re-enter the Tower of Mana, they must defeat both Luna and Aska together. Which of the following is the only stat which has the same value for both Luna and Aska?

Answer: Attack

Both Luna and Aska have 1120 attack. Luna has higher defense, TP, and Gald. Aska has higher HP and EXP. This is the only compulsary Summon Spirit battle that you do not have to win.

9. What does Luna drop if you win the battle?

Answer: Moonstone

You obtain the Topaz after the battle, as you obtain a gemstone after every Summon Spirit battle, but Luna drops a Moonstone. Aska drops Rare Pellets after the battle.

10. After the battle, Kratos temporarily joins your party. Whose place does he take?

Answer: Sheena

Sheena has to temporarily leave the party to return to Mizuho. Kratos joins you, after trying to prevent you from battling the Summon Spirits.
