Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. With the constant threat of the Collectors throughout "Mass Effect 2", players eventually face (and ultimately destroy) which massive enemy on the other side of the Omega-4 Relay?

Answer: Human-Reaper

Throughout the story of "Mass Effect 2", we learn that humans are being abducted by a race known as the Collectors. In Commander Shepard's attempts to protect the humans of the galaxy, he/she gathers an elite team of individuals to ultimately take on a suicide mission through the Omega-4 mass relay. On the other side awaits the ominous Collector Base, where the true nature of their plans is revealed: humans are being abducted to use their genetic material to create a Human-Reaper hybrid, a massive hulking robotic construct with the potential to conquer all sentient life in the galaxy. With the team assembled, a final fight against this foe takes place in a large chamber of the Collector Base, after slaying a veritable army of Collectors (and hopefully protecting members of your team at the same time).

When the Reaper is destroyed, the base goes with it and the team makes their way back through the relay to safety, having vanquished the imminent Collector/Reaper threat.
2. It's pretty clear throughout "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" that you'll be facing Zoran Lazarevic in the end, but in which legendary city does the final fight take place?

Answer: Shambhala

Boy, is the fight against Lazarevic tough, compared to the other games in the series - as Lazarevic chases Nathan Drake around an enclosed area of Shambhala, Drake needs to lure him near exposed bulbs of resin and shoot them to damage him. The other "Uncharted" games have somewhat unique boss fights: in "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune", Nate just has to get through a bunch of Roman Navarro's henchmen before basically punching him into submission; "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception", despite Katherine Marlowe being the baddie throughout the whole thing, sees Nate fist-fighting her right-hand man, Talbot, amongst the crumbling ruins of Ubar; "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" culminates with Nate swordfighting his former friend and ally Rafe Adler, as legendary pirate Henry Avery's lost ship burns around them.
3. Bowser is the perennial antagonist of the "Mario" games, but there's a few times where he's not the final boss. Which of these "Mario" games doesn't feature Bowser as the final baddie?

Answer: Super Mario RPG

Unusually, Bowser, despite being an antagonist at the beginning of "Super Mario RPG", eventually allies with Mario in their mutual quest to bring down Smithy and stop him from ruling the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond. This is a rare occurrence of Bowser being on the side of Mario (excluding the many sports and party games which, obviously, aren't strictly canonical to the main series).

In "New Super Mario Bros.", Bowser (or, rather, his son) kidnaps Princess Peach. In "Super Mario Sunshine", Peach is kidnapped by Shadow Mario (later revealed to be Bowser Jr again, thinking Peach is his mother who was kidnapped by Mario) and Bowser is eventually defeated in his hot tub atop a volcano.

In "Super Mario Galaxy 2", Bowser kidnaps Peach and takes her to the centre of the universe and Mario needs to defeat him to rescue her.
4. Alduin the World-Eater is the final boss of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim", but what sort of creature is Alduin?

Answer: Dragon

"Skyrim" basically revolves around dragons as the protagonist, revealed to be the Dragonborn, is tasked with hunting down and slaying the most dangerous dragon in the world, Alduin the World-Eater. The final fight takes place in Sovngarde, the legendary stomping ground of the departed, after an initial battle in the land of the living atop Skyrim's highest mountain, the Throat of the World.

The Dragonborn learns many dragon shouts (or Thu'um) during their journey - these are particularly effective at defeating the many dragons roaming Skyrim.

The most well-known of these, Unrelenting Force (or Fus Ro Dah in the language of the dragons), sends a staggering blast outwards.
5. In "Batman: Arkham Knight", which big bad guy of Gotham City is physically fought (through player control) at the end of the game?

Answer: Joker

All throughout "Batman: Arkham Knight", Scarecrow is the primary antagonist, with the Joker appearing in Batman's hallucinations, providing commentary on his actions. Despite this, at the end of the game, when Batman is captured by Scarecrow and injected with fear toxin, the player controls Batman inside his own mind and partakes in a brief fistfight with Joker.

It could be argued, therefore, that he's the final boss; after this, Scarecrow's demise comes about in a cinematic, during which Batman overpowers him and injects him with his own toxin.
6. Which of these "Legend of Zelda" video games actually features Ganon (or Ganondorf) as the final boss?

Answer: The Wind Waker

"The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" finds Link and Ganon atop the latter's tower, with Hyrule flooded around them; Ganondorf's defeat petrifies him and saves Hyrule from further subjugation. "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword", at the time, was the earliest game in the series' chronology, featuring an antagonist called Demise, a precursor to what would become Ganon in later generations - both Link and Zelda would also be doomed to be reincarnated over and over and battle a form of Demise over and over.

In "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask", action moves away from Hyrule to the adjacent region of Termina, where the Skull Kid utilises the titular Majora's Mask to cause the moon to crash into the land - the final fight is against Majora, as the mask assumes a corporeal form. "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" sees Link facing off against Dark Link inside the Great Palace, to avert the potential resurrection of Ganon; Dark Link would later appear as a minor boss in "Ocarina of Time" at the end of the Water Temple.
7. Blue, Lance, Steven, Cynthia, Alder, Iris, and Diantha are all final "bosses" of the "Pokemon" games, but what title do they hold in their respective regions?

Answer: League Champion

The main series of "Pokemon" games pretty much follow the same formula, culminating in a battle against four of the region's strongest Pokemon trainers, known as the Elite Four, and the Pokemon League Champion. Defeating the Champion ends the game, though players are returned to the region afterwards to continue their quest to "catch 'em all".

Interestingly, in the Generation VII games "Sun" and "Moon", the Pokemon League is not yet fully established, and the player's victory in Alola's Pokemon league cements them as the region's first Pokemon League Champion.
8. Which historical figure in Italian history, a high-ranking member of the Templar order, is fought at the end of "Assassin's Creed II"?

Answer: Rodrigo Borgia

Though most of "Assassin's Creed II" takes place in rural Italy, the game climaxes with our hero, Ezio Auditore, venturing to Rome to take on Rodrigo Borgia (later Pope Alexander VI). Ezio spares Borgia's life at the end of the game - his death comes later at the hands of his son, Cesare Borgia.

In "Assassin's Creed", Robert de Sablé is killed at the hands of protagonist Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad; Loreano Torres is the big bad Templar of "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag"; François-Thomas Germain and protagonist Arno Dorian face off in the closing moments of "Assassin's Creed Unity". All these Templar bosses seek to control mystical artefacts and subjugate humanity for the furtherment of their own cause - our Assassin friends are there to thwart their efforts.
9. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder, is the last boss in which of these notoriously difficult RPGs?

Answer: Dark Souls

Throughout "Dark Souls", the player travels through the land of Lordran, a hostile place teeming with dangerous foes, many of which serve a greater foe in the form of the Lord of Cinder. The last battle of the game takes place in the Kiln of the First Flame, whereby the player needs to succeed Gwyn and decide which age the land should continue under - keep the incumbent Age of Fire or usher in the Age of Dark and assume the role of the Dark Lord.
10. After a quiz about everything in the game so far (more or less), you ascend to the very top of Grunty's lair to do battle once and for all. In which timeless Nintendo 64 do we fight Grunty?

Answer: Banjo-Kazooie

I can't help but include my favourite game of all time. "Banjo-Kazooie" caps off its story with a fight against bear/bird and witch at the very top of her lair. And to think, this all started because Gruntilda wanted to be young and beautiful again and had to kidnap our hero Banjo's sister, Tooty, and use a malevolent machine to extract her beauty and transfer it to Grunty. Strictly speaking, you could argue that the final boss fight encompasses the quiz game as well as the actual boss fight itself. If enough musical notes have been gathered throughout each of the preceding nine worlds, you can enter a door leading to a perilous quiz about all things "Banjo-Kazooie" whereby a series of correct answers will secure Tooty's safety.
