Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If I were with April Ryan, in the city of Marcuria, learning to speak Alltongue, which land would I be in?

Answer: Arcadia

April is a "shifter" with the ability to move between Stark and Arcadia in the Windows game, "The Longest Journey" (2000). Of the two worlds, Stark is devoted to science and technology, while Arcadia, is devoted to magic and it is down to April to restore the balance between the two.
2. I am with Link, in his hometown of Kokiri Forest, to visit the Great Deku Tree. In which kingdom am I?

Answer: Hyrule

Hyrule is the main kingdom in the majority of the "Zelda" franchise, which started with "The Legend Of Zelda" in 1986. Hyrule is a prosperous land of tall mountains, deep lakes and lush forests, but does also have a barren desert which is home to the Gerudo race and a frightening mountain known as Death Mountain, home to rock people, the Gorons.
3. Who lives with toad servants, in a castle that is often attacked by Bowser and his Koopa Troop in Mushroom Kingdom?

Answer: Princess Peach

Princess Peach first appeared in "Super Mario Bros" on the NES in 1985 and has had a variety of roles over the years, Although she is often rescued from peril by Mario, she has appeared as a caddy in "NES Open Tournament Golf" (1991) and as an expert fencer in "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games" for Wii and Nintendo DS in 2007.
4. The imperial provinces of Skyrim, Hammerfell and Black Marsh are part of the Empire of Tamriel, in which game franchise?

Answer: The Elder Scrolls

Other imperial provinces of Tamriel include High Rock, Summerset Isle, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Morrowind, and Cyrodiil. Skyrim is also known as the Old Kingdom and was the first region of Tamriel settled by humans from the continent of Atmora. Hammerfell is a maritime province, with most of its interior being sparsely populated while Black Marsh is a land of waterways and impenetrable swamps with few roads, meaning most transport is done by boat.
5. Sirrus and Achenar, sons of Atrus, need rescuing through the solving of some extremely complicated puzzles. On which island would this be the case?

Answer: Myst

When this game was released for PlayStation in 1996, I spent hours playing it. Players must visit various "ages" in order to decipher garbled messages and solve complex puzzles before returning to Myst to piece together the clues. The more puzzles solved, the clearer the messages become and the more complex the puzzles start to become as well.
6. The wizard, Mondain is using the Gem of Immortality for evil purposes. We must find and destroy the gem in order to stop him and free the people of which kingdom?

Answer: Sosaria

Yes, we're going way back to 1981 here and the first in the "Ultima" series of games. Originally released for the Apple II computer, it was, over the next few years also released for the C64 and DOS systems. Sosaria was a land of four continents known as The Lands of Lord British, The Lands of the Dark Unknown, The Lands of the Feudal Lords, and the Lands of Danger and Despair. Without giving too much away, by the end of the game, only The Lands of Lord British remained and took the name Sosaria, later renamed Britannia.
7. First appearing for the Xbox in 2004, in which game would we walk the lands of Albion, as The Hero of Oakvale?

Answer: Fable

Albion was the base for most of the games in the "Fable" series and is a fertile land bordered on two sides by seas rich in fish. The main city and capital of Albion is Bowerstone, which has two very distinct parts, an affluent northern section, home to Lady Elvira Grey, the Mayor of Bowerstone and a poorer southern section which is where the Bowerstone Quay is located. Bowerstone Quay is the main trading point between the city and its neighbours such as Oakvale.
8. "Order of the Flame" (1999) for PC and "The Ancient's Gates" (2002) for PS2 both took place on which planet?

Answer: Drakan

Drakan has been the site of many battles, but none more fierce than the one between humans and dragons, who waged war on each other for centuries before realising that working together was beneficial to both parties and forming an organisation called The Order of the Flame, which originated in the mountainous area of Drakan. Aside from the mountains, Drakan also contains the Northlands and a tropical continent which can explored by simply hopping onto your dragon and flying.
9. If I were with meat packing plant worker Abe at RuptureFarms and we discovered that the plant owner was planning to use Mudokon slaves as meat, which planet would I be living on?

Answer: Oddworld

The Oddworld series began with the 1997 PlayStation game, "Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee" and titles have since been released for many consoles. Oddworld is a very dry planet with no large oceans but hundreds of large craters, some of which house entire cities.

The land itself varies from lush, green forest to icy mountainous regions all of which makes the ultimate quest to defend Oddworld's ecosystem more challenging.
10. I have spent many hours driving my zoomer, outwitting and battling Baron Praxis and his Krimzon Guard, along with the Metal Heads. Which city have I been in?

Answer: Haven City

"Jak II", the second in the "Jak and Daxter" series of games, takes place largely in Haven City and first came out in 2003 for PlayStation 2. Haven City is controlled by Praxis who retains power through a coordinated war with the Metal Heads. There are many missions for Jak to complete in all areas of the city, from the slums, which is home to the Underground movement to the port, home to Krew and his Hop Hog Heaven Saloon.
