Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these is a town that has shown up frequently in the "Legend of Zelda" series from Nintendo?

Answer: Kakariko Village

Kakariko Village is located in Hyrule and seems to change its appearance in each game. It is considered a prosperous place to live and has some interesting shops. The other possible answers are from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" series.
2. Which of these "Grand Theft Auto" cities is based on Miami, Florida?

Answer: Vice City

"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" was released in October 2002, and became the best-selling video game of the year. Based on the TV show "Miami Vice", the player finds out that the city is not just palm trees and art deco buildings.
3. The residents of this city in "World of Warcraft" weren't loafing when they moved it from the ground to the sky by using their mental powers. What is its name?

Answer: Dalaran

To act as a defense against the Lich King, Dalaran's magician residents moved it from Lordamere Lake in the Eastern Kingdoms to a spot above the Crystalsong Forest in Northrend. By creating a large shield around the city they prevented the dragon Malygos from destroying it.
4. The Civil Protection people in this city are not individuals you'd want to meet up with. In which supposedly well-ordered city, conquered by aliens, will you find them?

Answer: City 17

City 17 is supposedly located in Eastern Europe in "Half-Life 2". The Combine, composed mostly of aliens, runs things in this ugly, decaying metropolis. The Combine's base of operations, The Citadel, dominates the area, reaching over two kilometers in the sky.
5. Looking for something besides zombies and apocalyptic trash in the streets? Give this sophisticated city in the Crescent Nebula a try. What is its name again?

Answer: Nos Astra

Nos Astra is the capital of the planet Illium, dominated by the Asari, a feminine-appearing race in the game "Mass Effect 2". While it looks like a city catering to the senses, there is an undercurrent of danger here.
6. Don't confuse this city with Norse legends, it is on the planet Gaia in "Final Fantasy VII". What name do we know it by?

Answer: Midgar

The Shinra company, in typical future-fashion, greedily exploited the planet Gaia and its life force, called the Lifestream. The city was built on top of a central pillar and eight reactors. The rebel AVALANCHE group seeks to reverse the destruction caused to Gaia by the company.
7. Don't burn up your tires getting to this trashy city in the Arid Badlands on Pandora. Which city is it from the video game "Borderlands"?

Answer: Fyrestone

Once a prosperous mining town, a series of graves is about all that's left of its former glory. The game begins here as Dr. Zed, the only human left, will be the first to offer a mission to the player. As in cities in other games, there is much to find in Fyrestone. The city shows up again in "Borderlands 2".
8. Which city, dominated by the Umbrella Corporation, had to be nuked by the U.S. government in "Resident Evil 3"?

Answer: Raccoon City

The Umbrella Corporation, working on the "T-Virus", had the pathogen escape into the population of Raccoon City, turning the people into zombies. It was finally necessary for the national government to destroy the city with nuclear weapons. During the game we find out that Raccoon City is somewhere in the U.S. Midwest.
9. "Happy New Year 1959" the sign read and it all went downhill from there. Downhill, so to speak, because it was already underwater. Which possibly heavenly city was it?

Answer: Rapture

In "BioShock" we learn that Rapture was the vision of Andrew Ryan, who was dismayed by the social and political changes following World War II. Ryan got the underwater city built but on New Year's Eve, 1958, a civil war began for control of the city between Ryan and Atlas, a would-be liberator.
10. Reminiscent of the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, this strong town in "World of Warcraft" was built a long time ago by dwarves. What name did they give it?

Answer: Ironforge

Ironforge was carved out of a mountain in Dun Morogh by the dwarves and it is their capital city. It is part of the Alliance and has never been invaded by the Horde. Those huge rock entry doors may have something to do with that.
