Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You start the game asleep on your family farm. Before you wake up and start adventuring you'd better choose your class! Which of these is not an option to you?

Answer: Sheep Shearer

Cow Punchers are the game's muscle class and are skilled in Leatherworkery. Beanslingers are a mystical class who craft items using Master Cookery. Snake Oilers are focused on the moxie stat. They have a pistol for a weapon of choice and craft items using Potionology. Sheep shearing does not feature in the game.
2. The broad purpose of the game is to make you way out West to Frisco, though the game is far more about the journey than the destination. When your brother Rufus asks you why you're leaving the farm, which of these is not a possible motivation?

Answer: Anxiety

You will be rewarded by making decisions which fit your stated intent throughout the game. For example, answering "To seek my fortune" means you will yield slightly more meat rummaging through mine carts or harvesting veins of meat in the mines. Remember to send Rufus a postcard when you can - you never know what he might send back!
3. A quick ride on the back of a turnip truck and you're in Boring Springs! As well as acting as a tutorial you can choose a horse and a "Pardner." Which of these characters will ride West with you?

Answer: Gary the Goblin

You first encounter Gary when the Boring Springs bartender asks you to "deal" with the goblin in his basement, meaning most players will kill Gary on their first play through the game. However, by pilfering a bottle of whiskey and leaving, then coming back after learning goblintongue you can team up with Gary. Gary often has an odd way of looking at the world and allows you to encounter goblins non-combatively.
Sherf is the sheriff, Cactus Bill is mostly cactus, and Horace just wants his horses back!
4. After starting the game proper, you take up residence in Dirtwater. There are five gangs wanted in the Dirtwater Jail and no Sherf... or sheriff! Is it possible to bring all five gangs without a fight?

Answer: Yes

I was reluctant to use the terms "dead" or "alive" as one gang consists of ghosts. You can earn the "Wanted: Alive" achievement by filling the jail, including the ghost cell. You can also earn the "Wanted: Dead" achievement by ending things messily, though you will have to have earned the "ruthless" perk back in Boring Springs.
5. To reach Frisco you must aid the Manifest Destiny Railroad Company in building a bridge. Which of these materials is NOT up to the task?

Answer: Meat

The most logical substance, and the one that the game directs you toward, is lumber, which you can attain by helping the mayor of Breadwood accomplish five of seven tasks. However, if you develop at least four Necromancy skills and obtain the Unlimited Bones perk you can create a bridge of bone instead. Trickiest of all is the El Vibrato Bridge, which you can build at the Curious Copse, having first powered up the terminal at the Lost Dutch Oven Mine. Build all three over the course of three playthroughs for a Steam achievement! Incidentally, meat is the in-game currency.
6. With which of these anachronisms can you adorn your room in Dirtwater?

Answer: A lava lamp

You can find it in the Shroomcave lounge after drinking Dirtihippica extract. You can find what looks like a Camaro by passing through the Temporal Nexus to Camp Crystaldream. You don't have a guitar, but can play cowbell on stage at the Jewel Saloon in Dirtwater, recruiting band members as you go. Finally, he may not have a painting, but you may meet a flashy goblin that bears a resemblance to the King!
7. Though never explicit, it is clear that a Lovecraftian presence is exerting control over some of the miners. What is the name of this other-worldly cult-leader?

Answer: Roberto

It seems that the deeper you venture into some mines, the more likely you are to find strange spiral symbols or crazed Roberto cultists. There also seems to be a link between Roberto and the strange El Vibrato technology, though it is never made explicit.
8. Again, most of the fun comes from exploring new areas and meeting new characters. Which of these evil overseers can you never meet?

Answer: Roberto

Duke Bovicus is responsible for the rise of Hellcows in the west and can be summoned from the portal to Hell at Hellstrom Ranch, though not easily! The Necromancer is responsible for the game's living skeletons - find hints to his whereabouts and narrow down the location of his tower. Barnaby Bob is a Duke of Hell and the clown in charge of Barnaby Bob's Perfectly Normal Traveling Circus Sideshow - simply make your way into his stunt show to see him! You never meet Roberto but can activate the Roberto Containment Center located in Deepest Delve Mine to stop his influence.
9. Before you reach Frisco and officially make it out West, you will be asked for a crown by Norton. Which of these is not a viable option?

Answer: Gold Hair Crown

Not gold hair, but gold teeth. With this crown Norton will usher in "an age of unprecedented prosperity in Frisco." Other crowns affect Norton differently, and this is reflected in the way he runs the city:
"With his wacky turnip crown, Emperor Norton served an example of profound and abiding weirdness to the citizenry of Frisco."
"With his high-tech El Vibrato crown, Emperor Norton created a technological Utopia."
"With his useless crown, Emperor Norton believed he was in charge. You let him labor under the illusion, pulling the strings from a distance.
As the city grew, crime and disease grew with it. When the cemeteries were full, Emperor Norton embarked on a massive public works project to dig catacombs under the city." In the last instance, Notron is unaware that you have become the Necromancer.
Emperor Norton is obviously based on Norton I, first Emperor of America and San Francisco eccentric. Failure to provide him with a crown will result in infection from the Norton Ant-Eye Virus.
10. What is the closest thing the game has to an ending?

Answer: Watch the final cut scene of the game at Frisco cinema

"Some folk say endings don't matter.
But other folks, they like to know how things turn out. The consequences of their action, like."
Watching the credits does not prohibit you from investigating the game further. In fact, watching the credits may give you inspiration of what to do next.
