Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Stonetalon Peak may be the Alliance home for this zone, but what creatures surround it?

Answer: Daughter of Cenarius

Stonetalon Peak is the northernmost region of Stonetalon Mountains and possibly the most difficult to reach as no areas directly connect to it from other zones. Containing an inn, a few quest-givers, and a trainer or trader or two, Stonetalon Peak is nestled in the corner of this mountain glade.

It also contains a flightpath location. The Daughters of Cenarius are human-like creatures which patrol the surrounding peak with their natural minions. Although Alliance players would find friends in these, opting to kill the Corrosive Ooze in the forests nearby, Horde players will complete a quest (given in the Horde town of the zone) to kill these dryads.

They won't be higher than level 25 in battle.
2. What is the name of the Horde town in the center of Stonetalon Mountains?

Answer: Sun Rock Retreat

The largest town in the zone, Sun Rock Retreat sits in a small open expanse between a number of mountains. Containing an inn, numerous trainers and traders, and a flightpath location, Sun Rock is the hub of the zone for Horde Players and most of the quests attained here will take you all over the Mountains.

The town is run mostly by Tauren NPCs due to the zone's proximity to Mulgore and the natural theme. Other than the large longhouse on one side of the city, a number of totem poles can be found across the southern half of the zone. Maggran Earthbinder is the leader of the town.
3. Windshear Crag's mining operation is run by which of these?

Answer: Venture Co.

Venture Co. seems to take its trading to the extreme in this world...I swear, every zone seems to have one of these locations or another. In Stonetalon Mountains, the Venture Co. Mining Company has set up a base of operations in Windshear Crag, creating both a large base and developing a prospering mine. Both Venture Co. Miners of all sorts and the machines they're using to log the trees in the land will set out to attack you, so caution is typically expected.

A small layer of spiders will be guarding the south entrance to the Crag, but really, once you're inside, you'll hope for more spiders- the mechanical beasts here typically pack a punch.

Many quests for this area can be found in Sun Rock Retreat and Stonetalon Peak.
4. Webwinder Path stretches across the majority of Stonetalon Mountains. Are there any spiders on the road?

Answer: Yes

This road stretches from the border in the southeast near Camp Aparaje and reaches far north near Stonetalon Peak. Along the sides of this long road are Deepmoss Creepers and their young waiting to pounce, so players entering Stonetalon below level 15 may have quite the task on their hands.

A Wanted Poster about halfway up the path (near Sun Rock Retreat and the turn-off for Windshear Crag) gives the 'Arachnophobia' quest which requires that players go to Sishir Canyon and take agiant spider's head for a hefty reward.

This entire region is a haven for Deepmoss Creepers and Venomspitters which have created their nests. Proceed with caution; Besseleth the spider is quite difficult for lower-leveled players.
5. The southernmost outpost in Stonetalon Mountains is Malaka'Jin. What is true about it?

Answer: It's a Horde outpost

A really small Horde outpost on the bottom border of the map, Malaka'Jin contains a small amount of Horde-specific quest-givers and a butcher (hooray...meat). The entire town can be easily missed if you're working your way up Webwinder Path; the entrance is nestled quite nicely in the mountains.

The path into the outpost is marked by tribal ornaments. Run by trolls, this town has very little use for higher-level players, but anyone at a low-enough level passing through for the first time may find themselves picking up some of the quests here meant for the far-south region of Stonetalon Mountains. Most of the quests here, if not all of them, won't go past Windshear Crag.
6. We're fighting Furious Stone Spirits. Where are we?

Answer: The Charred Vale

The Charred Vale is a particular area of interest for players hailing from Sun Rock Retreat. This once-heavily-forested area has been overrun by confusingly out-of-place characters like Elementals, Chimeras, and Burning Destroyers. Accessible by either passing through the mountains adjacent to Sun Rock Retreat or by going up and around past Sun Rock entirely (and through the Mirkfallon Lake region), The Charred Vale is not a starter area for players in Stonetalon Mountains; most of the enemies here are heading up towards level 30 and use fire spells to bring down their enemies in smoke and flame.
7. What is the name of the small cave near Stonetalon Peak in which Horde players can quest but Alliance players can not?

Answer: Talon Den

The Talon Den is in the northern cliff walls near Stonetalon Peak. Although the creatures found in here are friendly to the Alliance much like the Daughters of Cenarius outside, Horde players can enter the cavern to fight and complete a couple of quests found at Sun Rock Retreat.

A number of keys given by Braelyn Firehand will open the gates to get into Talon Den so that you can reap the experience and rewards from inside, but this is not an instance- it's simply a higher-level area than most in Stonetalon, and because of this it should only be attempted by those who are near to level 30.
8. How many instances can be found in Stonetalon Mountains?

Answer: None

Although players in this zone should typically be traveling at the level 15-30 range, some may find themselves looking for an instance here in all the wrong places. There are no instanced dungeons to be found in Stonetalon whatsoever, but at this level, you may wish to take your character through Ragefire Chasm (if you're either Horde or a risky Alliance member with a death wish) or through the Wailing Caverns in The Barrens. If you're set on leveling a bit higher in Stonetalon and you're a Horde player, you may consider working your way through the Talon Den, the near-level-30 area for players who aren't afraid of getting their hands dirty.
9. Desolace connects to Stonetalon Mountains at which compass direction (from the center of the zone)?

Answer: Southwest

Desolace is one of three different zones which connects directly to Stonetalon Mountains though to reach it you'll need to cross the Charred Vale in the southwest. Similarly, the Desolace is quite the foreboding zone. A dry, arid land, the zone is, like Stonetalon before it, neutral for both Alliance and Horde. Shadowprey Village is available for Horde players on the coast while Nijel's Point is near the border to Stonetalon for Alliance explorers.

The area also contains the Maraudon instance in the Valley of Spears and the zone is bordered by Feralas to the south. Stonetalon Mountains also borders The Barrens which are found to the southeast.

While Desolace is a step ahead in terms of level range, The Barrens may be considered a step back.
10. An underground passageway in Windshear Crag leads to what other zone?

Answer: Ashenvale

Known as the Talondeep Path, this cavern connects the clear-cut mining area of Windshear Crag in Stonetalon Mountains to the calm Mystral Lake to the north in Ashenvale. The whole path is pretty much uninterrupted by enemies; there is fairly little use to the cavern other than a means of transporting one from one end to the other. Certain quests which must be completed in Ashenvale (amongst other locations) can be obtained from Braug Dimspirit ('Test of Lore') just outside the cave and near the mountains on the Stonetalon end.

This, however, is only for Horde players.
