Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Horde sure have their share of outposts in Zangarmarsh. Which is the closest town to Hellfire Peninsula which Horde players can enter?

Answer: Cenarion Refuge

Players entering Zangarmarsh from Hellfire Peninsula will pretty much immediately fall into Cenarion Refuge, a neutral location at the border where nearly half of the zone's quests will make their appearance. The town is perhaps the most well-equipped in Zangarmarsh for both Alliance and Horde players as the majority of necessities and NPCs will appear in some form here (except in terms of trainers).

The path found to the west of town takes players south to Umbrafen Lake or north to the Horde outpost known as Swamprat Post, the closest flightpath for the faction (but not the only one in Zangarmarsh). Zabra'Jin, the Horde-specific town, is found more to the northwest.
2. Players reaching Telredor by foot will need to take an elevator.

Answer: True

Telredor, an Alliance-based town, is the only place in all of Zangarmarsh to be situated atop a giant mushroom. Players passing by the city may notice a sole elevator transporting players up to the top of the fungi fortress, but only Alliance players can reach it.

The city is on the eastern end of Serpent Lake, overlooking the Coilfang Reservoir. Players here will find a number of gathering quests and NPCs as well as a flightpath location though other quests for Alliance players can be attained from Orebor Harborage to the northeast or Cenarion Refuge. Telredor is primarily populated by Draenei, one of the new playable races for the "Burning Crusade" expansion.
3. Sporeggar contains which of these?

Answer: A trader

Okay, so maybe this neutral town isn't all a waste of your time. Sporeggar is found on the western coast of Marshlight Lake in the west end of Zangarmarsh and players coming to it are more or less there for collecting quests to raise reputation. Harvesting certain mushrooms, fungi, and drops from nearby enemies will ultimately make you a friend of the characters in this small town.

Although all players can access it, it will need to be on foot. The closest flightpath locations are Zabra'Jin for Horde players and Orebor Harborage for the Alliance, so a small walk is in order.

The trader in Sporeggar is also quite the oddity. You don't pay him in money; you pay him in Glowcap Mushrooms. He contains some exclusive recipes though...
4. The Spawning Glen is found at the southwestern corner of the map. What single-NPC location is found slightly east?

Answer: Cenarion Watchpost

Cenarion Watchpost can be reached by following the path south from Zabra'Jin. Here, a neutral NPC known as Watcher Leesa'Oh will begin a quest chain in which you can head over to the Spawning Glen to collect, kill, and explore the abnormally different foliage and environment found there.

The area will be covered by hulking creatures and pods containing important sacs. Additionally, an NPC will be found near the edge of the Glen to hand you even more quests. All of these will either give you commendation and reputation for Cenarion Expedition or Sporeggar.
5. What are the three-legged creatures which wander the waters of Zangarmarsh?

Answer: Marsh Walkers

These mystical creatures are kind of reminiscent of the Tripods from Steven Spielberg's adaptation of "War of the Worlds". Marsh Walkers can be seen all over the Zangarmarsh in its shallow waterways lurching over the land around. The ones south of Sporeggar, if you've been attempting to procure some more reputation (do you really need more after the last questions?), will end up dropping Fertile Spores (so will Sporebats in the area). Fen Striders are another variation of the same type of creature found more in the eastern end of the zone. Similar questions are not found anywhere else in the game.
6. Boxes of what can be found around Ango'Rosh Stronghold?

Answer: Mushrooms

Found in the far northwest corner of Zangarmarsh, Ango'Rosh Stronghold is accessed by crossing a makeshift bridge formed from a giant fallen mushroom. The island's primary use is a base of operations for the Ango'Rosh Ogre tribe which also patrols the area north of Zabra'Jin.

A number of Horde quests for players advancing later in the zone will result in the defeat of many members of the tribe. The 'Stealing Back the Mushrooms' quest given by Watcher Leesa'Oh takes you across the zone to claim ten Boxes of Mushrooms from crates and enemy drops.

This quest is for both Alliance and Horde players.
7. Which area of the Zangarmarsh was drained by the Naga from Coilfang Reservoir?

Answer: The Dead Mire

Although the Dead Mire, found north of Swamprat Post and northeast of Telredor, used to be quite like the rest of the Zangarmarsh, you'll notice it's devoid of water and lush plantlife. Instead, you'll find a rather barren landscape highly dense with enemy life.

There are only a few neutral quests to be found here as well as a couple from the nearby Telredor, the Alliance town. The Naga at Coilfang Reservoir are the only ones to directly influence the area, destroying it for the most part. Withered Giants, a form of Fungal Giant, drop the Withered Basidium quest which can be handed in in Swamprat Post and Telredor.
8. Which of these zones does not border Zangarmarsh?

Answer: Shadowmoon Valley

Zangarmarsh is probably the highest-bordered zone of the Outlands. To the north, players can go through a small cave to reach Blade's Edge Mountains, in the higher half of level ranges in "Burning Crusade". Hellfire Peninsula is found to the direct east and players will enter the Dark Portal and begin their quest in the Outlands here if they don't (cheaply) portal their way into Shattrath City. Terokkar Forest (which contains Shattrath City) can be approached at the southeast corner of Zangarmarsh near Umbrafen Lake and the entrance to Nagrand is at the southeast corner near the Spawning Glen and Cenarion Watchpost.
9. Twin Spire Ruins contains how many World PvP points?

Answer: Three

Because this area is World PvP flagged, players of both factions (if the area is not under their control) can travel to the locations specified in a capture-the-flag-type scenario to take control of that territory. In the case of Twin Spire Ruins, players will receive an area bonus for having everything captured. If your faction has both towers, one near Zabra'Jin and one near Telredor, you can also take over the graveyard in the center of the area. All three of these capture points are on the southern shores of Serpent Lake near Coilfang Reservoir.

The path across Zangarmarsh runs right by them.
10. Coilfang Reservoir does not contain which of these instances?

Answer: The Mana-Tombs

The Mana-Tombs are actually a part of Terokkar Forest's major instance location, Auchindoun, in which the Mana-Tombs are actually the often earliest instance for the zone. In Coilfang Reservoir, found in the center of Serpent Lake, players will often swim into the depths to access the lower-leveled Slave Pens and Underbog, and they'll head to the level 70 Steamvault and Serpentshrine Cavern (a 25-man raid instance) at a later time to defeat the well-known Lady Vashj. Because of the local enemies in Zangarmarsh, it's easy to predict that the majority of enemies in Coilfang Reservoir are Nagas. That's pretty much the gist of it.

The Reservoir in the middle of the lake is evidently home to a number of caverns and passageways. Who knew pumping stations were so accommodating?
