DePauw is a coed school established in 1870 in Greencastle, Indiana. Wabash is a Men's college in Crawfordsville, Indiana, built in 1832. Both are known for their academics and liberal arts education. The Monon Bell is an actual locomotive bell from the Monon Railroad. It has been awarded to the winner of the annual football game since 1932. (Duchess76)

St. Olaf is in a running rivalry with my alma mater, Luther College in Iowa, about who has the "best" music program of the Midwest. You can probably guess my opinion.

Rose Nylund was Betty White's character on the American sitcom "The Golden Girls". She was from the fictional town of St. Olaf, Minnesota, and not Northfield. (Spaudrey)

Both the men's and women's basketball teams (Bears and Lady Bears) have won Division III championships in recent years.

Case Western Reserve University was established in 1967 when Western Reserve University (established in 1826) and Case Institute of Technology (formerly Case School of Applied Science established in 1880) consolidated into CWRU.

In the 1880s, Albert Michelson and Edward Morley carried out a series of experiments at what would become CWRU to determine the speed of light. Their results provided strong evidence against the theory of a luminiferous aether.

Robert Millikan did his experimenting at the University of Chicago in 1909 to determine the fundamental charge of the electron.

James Chadwick discovered the neutron in Cambridge, England in 1932.
