Answer: Lucy Hayes

Lucy Webb Hayes, "Lemonade Lucy", graduated from Wesleyan Female College in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was only 21 when she married Rutherford in 1852. Apparently she passed on her scholarly interests to her four sons and daughter who each became very successful in their respective careers.

Answer: Mary Lincoln

Poor Mary. She not only suffered the loss of three sons but also the assassination of her husband. In 1875, after experiencing hallucinations in which she claimed she saw her dead son, Tad, her surviving son, Robert, committed her to a mental institution. She stayed at the institution for two years, after which she was released to the care of her sister.
3. Which First Lady was the first to live in the White House?

Answer: Abigail Adams

When Abigail and John Adams moved to the White House in 1800, it was referred to as the President's House. Martha and George Washington lived at an estate in Mount Vernon, Virginia.
4. Which First Lady delivered a speech in sign language to the Gallaudet School for the Deaf in Washington?

Answer: Grace Coolidge

Interestingly enough, Grace's husband, Calvin, was nicknamed "Silent Cal." Her interest in sign language was piqued when she lived for a while with a family whose oldest daughter had studied at the Clarke School for the Deaf in Massachusetts. Grace later studied there herself.

In 1912,at the request of Mrs. Taft, three thousand Japanese Cherry trees were planted in The Washington Tidal Basin. Helen personally planted the first two saplings.

Jackie was hired as camera girl for the Washington Times Herald. It was in 1951 that she interviewed Congressman John F. Kennedy. They married in 1953.

After seeing Dolley sitting in the gallery, a Congressman from North Carolina introduced a resolution to grant Dolley a seat in the House Chamber. It passed unanimously.

Mrs. Roosevelt was quite a prolific writer. Among other writings, she had a daily syndicated column entitled "My Day."
