Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many safety operations are disengaged when the trigger is pulled?

Answer: 3

The Glock trigger has three separate safety devices attached to it which are disengaged sequentially as the trigger is pulled.
2. What is the Glock frame manufactured from, to give such a high corrosion and abrasion resistance?

Answer: Polymer

Glock pistols were the first production firearms to be manufactured with a high-strength polymer frame which, in addition to giving great strength and incredible corrosion resistance, made the handgun 86% lighter than a full steel equivalent.
3. In addition to its light weight and revolutionary frame, the Glock 17 in 9 x 19 mm caliber, offered a huge magazine capacity. What are the standard capacity Glock 17 magazines (as manufactured, not the legally-mandated small capacity types in certain countries)?

Answer: 17

The Glock magazine uses the now-standard, double-stack principle for storage of ammunition in magazines. As the bullets are loaded into the magazine, they form a staggered column, using less space vertically than in single-stack magazines, increasing the amount of ammunition that can be loaded into each magazine. An extended floorplate option is available to increase the standard capacity magazine to 19 rounds. Oversized magazines can also be used increasing the capacity to over 30 rounds in some cases.
4. The Glock 31 is chambered for .357 Magnum ammunition.

Answer: False

The Glock 31 is actually chambered for .357 sig ammunition.
5. The Glock semi-automatic pistol is available in various calibers. Which of these is not available?

Answer: .44 Magnum

Glocks are available in 9 mm, 10 mm Auto, .357 sig, .380 Auto, .45 Auto & .45 G.A.P.
6. Glock pistols also come in a variety of different overall sizes including, Standard, Compact, SubCompact, SubCompact Slimline and what?

Answer: Competition

The Competition sized pistols are also termed "Practical/Tactical" due to increase in overall size which brings them more into the category of Tactical pistols like Colt's 1911-A1 and similar firearms.
7. The mass-media claimed the firearm would be invisible on airport security screening devices and that it could be a weapon favored by terrorists.

Answer: True

The media claims were inaccurate. Although the frame was made of polymer, which is hard to see under x-ray, the idea that it was invisible is impossible as the pistol contains a steel barrel, magazine, steel springs and all the internal workings. Not to mention the fact that bullets are made of metal too. It shows up very clearly on any x-ray or metal detector scan.
8. Glock pistols have a two-section trigger that acts as a safety device.

Answer: True

Glock triggers are actually two separate pieces. A smaller section of the trigger stops the rest of the unit moving unless it is first pulled out of its blocking position by the trigger finger. It's all done in the normal action of firing the pistol.
9. What is the amount of force required to pull the trigger back the G30's release point?

Answer: 5.5 lb

5.5 lb or 2.5 kg of force is required to pull the trigger and fire the pistol. Kits are available to reduce this amount for competition shooting and the like.
10. Glock uses Tenifer on the barrel and slides of their pistols. This is a very hard finish and is used for its corrosion resistance. It is similar in hardness to a diamond. What is the Rockwell hardness for this finish as used by Glock?

Answer: 64 HRC

Glock have been at the forefront of firearm technology for decades. Using Tenifer for the slide and barrel increases the strength and operational life of each pistol.
