Question 2 of 10
2. Kyle has been spotted drinking tea! But he's not in England; he's in Colorado, taking a tour of a tea factory and sampling all the different flavors. This company makes many flavors, including Red Zinger, Tension Tamer, Morning Thunder, and Fast Lane, but, sadly, no tea flavor called "Savoy Truffle". They do have chocolate flavored teas, though. Which of these tea companies is based in Boulder, Colorado? Hint

6. The report from eburge is that Kyle was seen boarding a train for the continent, humming "All You Need is Love" as he headed for the romantic city of Paris. There, if he still has plenty of traveling money, he could go shopping along one of the most famous and prestigious avenues in the world, ending at the Arc de Triomphe. Where is Kyle now? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Rumor has it that Kyle has ventured to the Land of the Southern Cross to experience a bit of Australian culture. If he was feeling lucky, he could have a flutter while experiencing firsthand 'The Race That Stops a Nation'. Which event would Kyle be witnessing? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Hearing that Kyle is in Australia, Redwallcrazy offered to find him. After a long search, he reported that Kyle had entered the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Sure enough, he was spotted sitting down in good seats watching a game of Aussie Rules, gasping in amazement at a player "Flying" over another player to take a fabulous mark. Somebody in the crowed yelled out 'specky!' and the crowed erupted. Whoops, Kyle has disappeared again in the uproar.

Aussie Rules has been around for longer than the modern Olympics. For what purpose was it originally developed?
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Kyle exited the MCG humming "Blue Jay Way", apparently having decided that his next stop would be the Blue Mountains. However, instead of going to the mountainous region in New South Wales, Australia, he chose to go to Tamil Nadu, India. The name of which of the following mountain ranges means 'blue mountains' in Sanskrit? Hint

Question 10 of 10

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One man who could with some justification have sung "I Am the Walrus" is the actor Wilford Brimley, a man whose moustache is distinctly reminiscent of a walrus's whiskers. Brimley played the grandfather (Ben) in the 1985 movie "Cocoon". If Kyle has decided to visit the location where most of this movie was filmed, where in the world would he be?

Answer: Florida

"Cocoon" was filmed in the St. Petersburg, Florida area. Some of the more iconic local buildings starred in the movie as well, such as the Snell Arcade, which has been in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since 1982. I defy you to look at a picture of Wilford Brimley's moustache and tell me he doesn't look like a walrus!

When John Lennon wrote "I Am The Walrus", part of his inspiration came from Lewis Carroll's poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter". Reportedly, after the song was released, he was dismayed to learn that the Walrus wasn't a very nice character. To quote Lennon: "I picked the wrong guy. I should have said 'I am the carpenter' - but that wouldn't have been the same, would it?"

Jakeroo reports that Kyle is NOT in fact sightseeing in Florida.

Answer: Celestial Seasonings

Celestial Seasonings sells mainly herbal teas, but also sells white, black, green, and oolong teas. Celestial Seasonings allows costumers to come in and tour the factory, shop in their store (some flavors can only be bought here), and taste several different blends of tea. The tour and sample bar are both completely free for visitors, every day. "Your Mother Should Know", in case she's ever in Boulder!

Luzianne is based in New Orleans, Lousiana, Bigelow is based in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Twinings is based in Andover, Hampshire, England.

It seems Kyle has had his fill of tea; he's nowhere to be found in the entire building. Salami_Swami has lost the trail.
3. The latest report is that Kyle has been spotted studying 'As You Like It' in the Forest of Arden, while snacking on strawberries and cream. In which English county is the Forest of Arden situated?

Answer: Warwickshire

The forest of Arden is bordered by the River Avon, and is not far from Stratford-on-Avon, where Shakespeare was born. His mother's name was Mary Arden and she came from a prominent Warwickshire family. Gloucestershire is the home of the Royal Forest of Dean and it's the New Forest which can be found in Hampshire.

Sherwood Forest is in Nottinghamshire and is associated with the legendary Robin Hood. Strawberries and cream is the traditional treat for spectators at Wimbledon, and Kyle and Rossian both believe in "Strawberry Fields Forever".
4. Kyle has obviously decided to take in some English culture while he's in the country. StarStruck60 has spotted him watching a group of grown men chase a cheese down a very steep hill. Where is he now?

Answer: Cooper's Hill, Gloucestershire

Every year the Spring Bank Holiday is marked by the cheese rolling festival at Cooper's Hill, Gloucestershire. A Double Gloucester cheese is rolled down the hill, reaching a speed of around 70 miles per hour, with the competitors chasing after it. The history of this event goes back some 200 years, and although injuries are common, people come from all over the world to take part in the race. Talk about "The Fool on the Hill"!
5. Rossian has posted a sighting of Kyle brushing up on his Welsh greetings in the National Library of Wales. In which city is he trying to work out the Welsh for "Hello, Goodbye"?

Answer: Aberystwyth

The National Library was established in Aberystwyth in 1907, following a battle with Cardiff. It is the home of over 4 million books, including the first book printed in Welsh, dating from 1546. It also has the first Welsh version of the Bible, which was published in 1588.

In case you were wondering, a library is a more reliable resource than the internet for some things. Three different online translators gave the following results when asked to translate 'hello' from English into Welsh: 'helo', 'I make heavy', '(the word is not in the dictionary)'!

Answer: Avenue des Champs-Elysees

Situated in the heart of Paris, Avenue des Champs-Elysees is the most famous street in the city, and also the broadest. Classy fashion boutiques, expensive restaurants and prestigious hotels line the avenue, attracting tourists from all over the world.

At approximately 2 kilometres long, the Champs-Elysees stretches from the Place de la Concorde in the east to the Place Charles de Gaulle in the west, where the Arc de Triomphe stands tall.
7. Rumor has it that Kyle has ventured to the Land of the Southern Cross to experience a bit of Australian culture. If he was feeling lucky, he could have a flutter while experiencing firsthand 'The Race That Stops a Nation'. Which event would Kyle be witnessing?

Answer: Melbourne Cup

'The Race That Stops a Nation' is, of course, the Melbourne Cup. Held on the first Tuesday in November, it is one of the richest and most prestigious two-mile horse races in the world. The Melbourne Cup Carnival, held at Flemington racecourse, encompasses a day of horse races and fashions on the field, including both the sublime and the ridiculous. Simultaneously around the country, at other racecourses, in hotels, homes and work places, people join in race day parties to celebrate the day. If unable to attend a Cup party, most people (even school students) down tools for a few minutes to watch or listen to the race; hence the name: 'The Race That Stops a Nation'.

Each year punters bet over $100 million dollars on the one race, with most not getting anything back in return. If you are lucky enough to pick the winner, the bragging rights among your peers (which only lasts a day or two) is worth more than your winnings from the TAB. For some people it is the only time they ever watch or bet on a horse race, but The Melbourne Cup is an Aussie tradition and it cannot be missed.

The winner of the Melbourne Cup wins upwards of $3 million dollars for its owner, and prestige unparalleled for its jockey. The trophy is made of 18-carat gold, and worth well into six figures. The leading trainer and jockey also receive a miniature version of the cup. Trainer Bart Cumming has a place in Cup history as prolific winner; in 2008 he won his 12th cup.

This question was compiled by leith90, who thinks anyone who wins the Melbourne Cup is entitled to sing the Beatles' song "Baby, You're a Rich Man".

Answer: To keep cricketers fit during winter

Australian Rules was developed in response to a letter from Mr. Tom Wills to "Bell's Life" in Victoria asking for a 'football' competition to be put in place to keep cricketers fit during winter. The first match was played between St Kilda Grammar School and Melbourne Grammar School, and was umpired by Tom Wills himself. The first official team was the Melbourne Demons, who are the oldest surviving sporting club in the world.

When a player leaps into the air to grab the ball, it is called a mark, and the player is entitled to a clear kick of the ball to recommence play. A really high leap is referred to as a 'specky', and the phrase 'watching the big men fly' is often used to describe AFL games.

Answer: Nilgiri

'Nil' means blue and 'giri' means mountain in Sanskrit. The Nilgiris were a popular summer retreat for wealthy British citizens during the British Raj in India. The Nilgiri Biosphere reserve is home to more than 2000 different species of flora, although some of the natural habitat has been destroyed by extensive tea plantations. Zorba_scank hopes Kyle enjoys the beautiful scenery!
10. Kyle is still AWOL, and we just missed him in Delhi as he got on the flight for his next destination. Our agent, lones78, wasn't too late, however, to see the brochure that dropped from his bag - "Penny Lane" Alpacas. The following parts of the brochure have been circled: 'Found in 1911', 'Lost City of the Incas', 'South America'. Where is Kyle heading now?

Answer: Peru

Specifically, Kyle is headed for Machu Picchu in Peru.

Although it was known to locals, Machu Picchu was not brought to the attention to the 'outside world' until Hiram Bingham, an American historian, did so in 1911. Machu Picchu, considered a sacred place, is listed as a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Machu Picchu was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007.

We can get to Peru, but can we get there in time to find Kyle? "Penny Lane is in my ears, and in my eyes", but flights are a bit crazy right now!
