I am sure we all remember the county commissioners holding the punch cards to the light to count the votes.
2. Another close presidential race was in 1876, where Rutherford B. Hayes defeated Samuel J. Tilden by one electoral vote. Tilden was the governor of what eastern state?

Answer: New York

Intersetingly enough, Florida sent two sets of electors to the electoral college. In a compromise, Hayes got to be president and the Reconstruction of the South ended.
3. How many sitting Vice-Presidents have won the Presidency?

Answer: 4

John Adams in 1796, Thomas Jefferson in 1800, Martin Van Buren in 1836 and George H. W. Bush in 1988.
