1. What is the Russian word for 'colour'?

Answer: tsvet

Russians use the Cyrillic Alphabet invented by St. Cyril and based upon the Greek alphabet. It has 33 letters.
2. How do you say 'red' in Russian?

Answer: krasnyi

The Red Square in Moscow = 'Krasnaja ploshchad'. 'Rozevyi' means 'pink', 'vzroslyi' means 'mature' and 'mertvyi' means 'dead'.
3. What do Russians say when they want to name the colour of tree leaves (in the summer)?

Answer: zelenyi

Russian is a Slavic language. There are 11 Slavic languages, divided into East Slavic (Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian), West Slavic(Polish, Czech, Slovak, Sorbian) and South Slavic (Slovene, Macedonian, Serbian, Croatian, Bulgarian). Some of these languages, such as Sorbian, have very few native speakers, while others, like Russian, Ukrainian and Polish have a very substantial native-speaking population.

'Dom' means 'house', 'glupyi' means 'dumb', 'lukavyi' means 'cunning' and 'krasivyi' means 'beautiful'. In Russian there are seven cases: nominative, vocative (little used), accusative, prepositional, genitive, dative and instrumental. Each with its own endings and uses.

This was a tricky question: 'goluboi' is actually 'light blue', 'sinyi' is regular blue,'fioljetovyi' is 'violet' and 'glubokyi' is 'deep'. Russian is spoken by more than 100 million native speakers and several millions of non-natives in the world.

Answer: True

The word is derived from 'malina' which means 'raspberry'. Russia's currency is the rouble.

Answer: chernota

'Chernota' means 'black' (the noun - words in -yi are usually adjectives). 'Perchatki' are 'gloves', 'nepromokaemyi' means 'waterproof' and 'chistyi' means 'clean' (see a connection with chastity?).
8. What is the word for 'dark' in Russian?

Answer: temnyi

'Svetlyi' is 'light', 'pustoi' is 'empty' and 'prostoi' is 'simple'.
9. And what is 'light' in Russian?

Answer: svetlyi

To say 'it is light' in Russian, you just say 'svetlo'.
10. Last but not least, a question about something completely different: what denomination are most Russians?

Answer: Orthodox

Russia has been greatly influenced by Greece throughout its history. Russians are Russian Orthodox and Greeks are Greek Orthodox.
