Answer: Jack Straw

Jack Straw was elected to the constituency of Blackburn in 1979. He was Home Secretary from 1997-2001. After the 2001 general election victory he became Foreign Secretary and still held the position in April 2004.

Answer: David Blunkett

David Blunkett rose from being a poor boy in Sheffield to becoming one of the foremost figures in New Labour. He was Education Secretary during Labour's first term (1997-2001) and then became Home Secretary after the 2001 general election, a position he still held in April 2004.

However he returned ten months later as Northern Ireland Secretary but was again forced to resign in 2001 due to a naturalization scandal, whereby it was claimed that he used this influence to secure passports for the billionaire Hunduja brothers.

Dr John Reid became Health Secretary in June 2003 and still held that position in April 2004. Previously he was also Scottish Secretary, Northern Ireland Secretary and Leader of the House of Commons.
