Originally called "Leeholm" after TR's first wife, Alice Lee, the house was started in 1884, Alice Lee Roosevelt died that same year, hours after giving birth to her first child, Alice. It is located on Oyster Bay on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. TR died there on January 6, 1919. Edith Roosevelt, TR's second wife, lived there until her death in 1948.
