No snow in Moscow this winter ..

Quote:

Pigs still can't fly, but this winter, the mayor of Moscow promises to keep it from snowing. For just a few million dollars, the mayor's office will hire the Russian Air Force to spray a fine chemical mist over the clouds before they reach the capital, forcing them to dump their snow outside the city. Authorities say this will be a boon for Moscow, which is typically covered with a blanket of snow from November to March. Road crews won't need to constantly clear the streets, and traffic - and quality of life - will undoubtedly improve.

Hmmm. Nothing could go wrong with that plan.

You think? This is pretty strange. It's like they are fighting off aliens! It's NOT possible, right?

I'm just wondered if they asked the people outside the city what they thought of the plan

Wish they could do it with rain ... send it here!

"The citizens of the region have some concerns." I'll just bet they do!

This has to be one of the craziest things I've read in a long time! I'm thinking Mr Mayor hasn't really thought this one out thoroughly. Unless he plans on raising the temperature also, there will be big problems. Let's see.. frigid cold, no snow as insulation... hmm.. all signs of life on and under the ground will die. No grass will grow in the spring, all gardens will be dead, not to mention the worms and bugs that are vital for the balance of the ecosystem ... hmmm... *shakes head*

Outside Russia they're also pumping all sorts of chemicals into the atmosphere because they want it to absorb CO2. Russia also developed a mirror some years ago which was meant to reflect the sun at any time of the day to replace floodlights at night. I expect all three projects to go the same way. Man is not supposed to interfere with the atmosphere deliberately and this is the way he'll learn not to.

I wonder if this is a result of some of their experiments. Their explanation seems lame.

I saw that photo on Yahoo, a couple of days ago. Amazing! I agree, their explanation WAS pretty lame. Fantastic shot though, whatever it is...

If the snow scheme goes ahead and works, how will people get into and out of Moscow with all the extra snow that will be piled up in the outskirts?
