Are Team Leaders notified in some manner when players sign up for or leave a team?
I've been keeping track of the USA Midwest Players team for a couple years now. I've identified 500 of the 1630 team members. I assume that the 1130 players that I haven't found have not logged on to the site in more than two years, and I'll never find them. I can usually identify team members who have just started on FunTrivia by their registration date. I send them welcome to FT notes. My problem comes in team members who are long term FunTrivia players who I haven't seen on lists before that turn up as team members. I don't know whether they are coming back to FT after a long time and have been team members all along or if they have just switched teams. I suppose I can just sent them welcome notes in any case, but I would like to know if they switched teams.
Also, unless players leave notes or I notice their absence, I can't easily determine whether some one has left the team. I use this info in monthly reports.
If Team Leaders do get notified, I will renew my request to Terry to be made team leader of the USA Midwest Players team. He idicated some time ago thar he would consider it. I haven't pressed the point, since it didn't seem that Team Leaders have many options that regular players don't also have available.
Happy Team Trivia!

We are not notified. My team is small so I notice when the membership number goes down. I keep a spreadsheet and do a head count.

Nope, no notifications.
Luckily, there are 5 in my team (there were 6) so they are easy to keep track of. Our 6th, I think, is just a team 'hopper' and was only in our team for a couple of weeks, and one just randomly popped up one day on my list. The rest are family members so are easy to keep track of. It really would be nice to know when there are new people on the team or people leaving. As nice as it is to say 'Hello', I think it would also be nice to say 'goodbye' to those that have left.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll wait until there are some worthwhile Team Leader options before I request Terry to pass over leadership of the Midwest group.
I currently do daily reports for the Heroes, TvT & Daily games. Monthly reoprts for Heroes, Top Heroes, TvT & Daily games. I've sent out over 400 requests to team members to play Heroes & TvT, numerous welcome notes and I post notes for various Team badge winners. The Midwest Team averages 140 active members, 35 Heroes, 30 TvT & 25 Daily game players. Obviously, most of our members just play regular quizzes, some hourly games and post in chats.
Are there other things that Team Leaders do for their teams now? There was a discussion of possible new Team Leader options the last time I posted about Team Leadership. Are there other options that Terry should consider adding?

I would say you are an extremely active Team Leader JM - you probably do more than a lot of 'recognised' ones do.
Is there a reason you don't just form "JM Midwest Players" or something and get your regulars to join? - my appologies because you've probably answered this before

I'm happy with the team we have. I doubt most of them would want to change. I could probably convince a few of them to join a new team, but I prefer a large team with diversity. It would take a very long time to put together a new team near the size of our present one. We have recently lost a few long time members (less than 10) to the Flakes and the Conservatives. Our numbers have rebounded with new additions, but our new members will be a while reaching the playing levels of our previous members. I do wish our message board had more traffic, but there is only so much time to spend on FT and games & quizzes are more fun than chats, evidently.
Oh one other thing I've been doing lately is sending reminder notes to members so they will pick up their FT Birthday bagelets.

The badgelet reminders would definitely be easier, if you were the leader. I have a list of all my team's members. It is sorted by the last time they were on the site (I cannot change how it's sorted), but it also shows the day they registered.
As a leader, you would also be able to remove people. For instance, you probably have members that played for a week two years ago, and haven't been back to the site. There is little point having them weigh down your team list.
As Midget says, you are doing more than many team leaders. I'd like to see you get some recognition for it.

I didn't know that the team leader could remove no longer active members. That would be useful, and I think I'll tell our team leader about that. I do the same as JMElston for the reminders of birthday badges for the members of my team, but I found the link that lists everyone and their registration date (so I don't think it is limited to leaders alone, since I am just an assistant, not the leader).

Sue, I didn't know that other group members could see when people registered. Good to know
On your team leader's profile page, just above the team name, she will be able to click 'setup'. It will take her to a page where she can look at the list of members, by date last seen, and also remove members. This is the same page where she can change the team's blurb and change whether the team is open or closed.

Will it list everyone on a team with more than 1000 members?

I keep an extensive file with ID, record source, registration date, last date seen if it was more than a month or two ago, level last time checked, names if any, who is related to whom, notes sent & comments.
I probably wouldn't delete outdated member records because some of them come back after years and they aren't really hurting anything that I'm concerned with.
I really could use a multi-player mail option as discussed some time ago, but that could lead to spammer mis-use by some, I suppose.

Any team member can get at the list of current team members via their own profile page - in the Team Section, Setup takes you to a page at the bottom of which is a "list members" option - this gives last date seen as well. I don't know whether there is number or date cutoff - the team of which I am a member has about 500 players and as it's a requirement to appear once a fortnight, our team leader removes inactive players regularly so our "last seen" dates don't go back very far.

Wow! This link gives me all of our Team members back to 11/22/05, which is probably the beginning. It would have saved me a great deal of work if I had found it long ago. Thank you, Bucknallbabe.

You're welcome. It's interesting to know that it is a complete list and does go back a long way. I expect it'll keep you busy for a while!

I've just imported the data to excel after inserting the necessary commas and carriage returns and converted all the dates to Excel format to sort and play around with the data. Thanks! This will keep me busy.
