Fast food service
Is it just me or is it impossible to get even halfway decent service at a fastfood resturant nowadays? It has really become apparent to me in the past five years that most of these employees do not care about their jobs in the least and customer service has gone right out the window. Granted, it is not the highest paying or most glamorous job on earth, but is it to much to ask for the appearance of giving a crap? I dont think it is, but it wont change. I worked at a wendy's for almost two years (untill I graduated high school and went into the army) and we actually wanted to do things the right way, serve good food and be friendly and curtious to customers. I went through a wendy's drive through the other day and not one word was spoken, they took my money without saying anything and gave me my food without saying anything. Im not saying they had to run out and give me a hug or anything, but a simple "How's it going" would go a long way. I never complain though. One lessen I learned while working in the fast food industry is you do not complain if you know whats good for you. Your food will get messed with. Either body fluids, dropping it on the greasy floor, or simply give you old food that has been sitting around for six hours. I got some fries the other day that were so old and soggy they actually held the shape of the fry container after I dumped them out. Did I complain? No. Then I would have traded in soggy fries for ones that have been down someones pants. I'll take the soggy ones any day of the week. They have all of the power when they are in charge of what you put in your mouth. Resturants are the one place I dont complain. I've never been a person to back away from a conflict (physical or verbal) but they will remain dominant on these occations. If your thinking about complaining to a manager, dont waste your time. No action will be taken. It is tough for them to find people to take these jobs. So to them it is better to have five people that would rather stand there and carry on a conversation amongst themselves then take your order than it would be to fire them due to customer complaints and have an empty kichen due to the difficulty in hiring replacements.
