Obscure Researcher Badge
Next to the Endurance Badge (which I finally won a while ago), the Obscure Researcher Badge has been the one that I've worked the hardest to get. Just after the Badge was announced I had a quiz of 14/15 in 138 seconds. So close. If I had correctly recalled Beethoven's year of death, I would have been one of the first to win the OR Badge. Instead, I've come very close many times since, but until this morning I've always been one or more off or seconds (or minutes) too long. During the 2 AM Obscure quiz the stars aligned and I got a 15/15 in 285 seconds. Success! Now, if I can hold on for the rest of the month I can pick up the Obscure Monthly Badge.
A Lucky Duck or Perfect Score would really make the month. Oh well, perserverance is definitely the only way to go.

Bank Error in My Favor, Part II
I'll be contacting them next week. For further info as to why there is ANY dilemma, from the error last year and their posted policy, once the customer leaves the premises no correction in transactions are allowed. If they had shorted me $300 and I didn't catch the error before leaving, I would have been out of luck receipt or not. The cable correction was only handled because there was proof that they made an error in their transaction with the cable company not with me.
I make a point of giving back any erroneous change errors when shopping, and I complain when the amount goes against me. It is amazing how many cases of that I find. I don't do that much shopping. Oh well, I guess my brakes will just have to hold out a little longer. The red warning light has been on for a little over 18 months now.
Later:
Money situation resolved. I recalled that the currency exchange was open on Sunday with limited hours. Since I wanted to get this over with, I called and talked to one of the owners. He thanked me for calling about the problem. Their policy goes both ways. I figured it would be heads they win and tails I lose, but since it was their error and not mine, they take the loss. I guess it is a fair policy after all (especially since it benefited me in this case). I really couldn't pin down the gain more than $200 to $400. It could have been anywhere in that range. I think what happened is that the person waiting on me (another of the business owners) read the subtotal of my purchases/bills paid as the total to return to me.
I will try to be extra watchful in the future and catch errors in either direction. I am at least a year's fees ahead (they charge 1.8%), so I guess they have earned my business for the present. Thank you all for your input. Honesty is the best policy. I guess that I'll get my brakes fixed, so that I don't cause an accident.

Bank Error in My Favor
I have an ethical dilemma. I realize now that the currency exchange where I cashed my SSI check yesterday made a $300+ error in my favor. I should have caught this at the time, but I was very near fainting from standing in line, and my brain was not functioning well at the time. I didn't notice the 3 $100 bills mixed in with the twenties. They made a $100+ error around Christmas, but I didn't catch that for two weeks, when I realized that I actually had money left. They did correct the -$100 error they made on my TV cable bill payment last month, which caused my cable to be briefly disconnected. If I keep the extra money, it is essentially theft. They are closed over the weekend, so I have until Monday to decide what to do. Any advice?
Dithering Trivia!
Yo-Yo Day
I had a yo-yo day out in the non-trivia world. I slept 12 hours vs. 4 the previous day. I collapsed as I stepped out my front door on the way to the store. I've had this problem since 1996. Thankfully it is rare. I usually have this problem at the doctor's office. I had a devil of a time getting up. Nothing broken. I tend to bounce. I won $150 on a $5 lotto scratch-off ticket (all that I could afford). I then found that I had a flat tire on my '78 Caprice Classic and no jack or tire iron. After an hour or so sitting in my car in the grocery store parking lot, I managed to find a shopper with tools and time to change the tire. I thanked him for his assistance. He wouldn't take money for his trouble. The spare was low on air. I managed to drive to a gas station and pump up the spare. Now I know why I only get out 2 or 3 times a month.
My trivia day was also up and down. I managed a 1/10 in a quiz on 'Lost', a TV series that I've never seen. I got the Eds badgelet that this quiz was in anyway, since I also had numerous 10/10 quizzes in the 25 of 31 'hunt'. I had very good scores in the Daily games in the morning but low scores in the same games after midnight. Just another day at FunTrivia.

You too can earn an Endurance Badge
I've tried 5 times over the past month (April) to get the Endurance Badge. I never thought that I had a chance before that due to health issues, and I hadn't tried. In those 5 cases with 25000+ points, I kept getting aced out by players, who already had the Badge. My last unsuccessful attempt was Sunday, April 19. I missed by 1687 points, because I started late in a serious attempt. I slept 16 hours Monday, the 20th. I spent Tuesday (April 21) morning (from 11 pm Monday) going for the new All Round Quizzer Badge (which was cool). I ONLY needed 55 quizzes for that. After I finished that around 10:30 am, I noticed that I had a good start for another try at the Endurance Badge. I took a shortcut suggested by another player of using the For Children quizzes, because my previous attempts had used a lot of my easy areas of expertise. Stopping for nothing (no meal and only one bathroom break), I managed to get it this time. I won with 30,060 points. That was 104 points over a Canadian player who already had it (He'd only been on FT for a month). If I had slacked off at anytime, I would have been second again. It was quite a day. Incredible!
So, you too can earn an Endurance Badge, but it may not be easy.
Now, if I had only gotten the Perfect Score, the Lucky Duck, or the new World Game Badge. ;)
May the Badges be with you. We NEED our 'steenking' badges.
