Dumbledore Outted...

Harry Potter are a series of fiction books. I can't say it changes my opinion of the books. I can fully understand why JK Rowling didn't portray Dumbledore as gay in the books.

These books started as children's books. Even though, interest from adults and older teens were eventually drawn to the book. There's no way anyone could have predicted what happened would happen in the future. How widely liked the books would be.

Like I said before, there was already controversy about these books. Even if she tried to "out" him in the books later in the series, it would have only added more fuel to the flames. And, honestly it probably would have added to to her book sales. Not that it needed adding to. But, I don't think JKR needed that sort of publicy.

Gay or not, the basis of these books aren't romance. The sexual orientation shouldn't matter to the characters of the book. I still enjoy the books for what they are. Anything extra she gives in interviews is what they are.. extras. If you don't like it, pretend you never read it. Don't let it take away your enjoyment of the series. Dumbledore was a character who helped Harry learn and grow. There to help him learn about himself, his past, and his future. It shouldn't matter if DD was gay, straight, or whatever.

Why out him now? The books are over and done with. Hard core fanatics would have already bought the books. She's made squillions. She's definitely has the characters in her head as if they were her family. In a way they have been. She's the one person who knows these characters inside and out. If you read further articles you'll find that the information first came out NOT during that interview with fans but when they were working on the movie for HBP.

"Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," she spotted a reference in the script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore. A note was duly passed to director David Yates, revealing the truth about her character."

I think this is a way for her to get the information out there in her own way BEFORE someone else got their hands on the note and twisted it to their own liking to the public.

Again, these are HER characters. While sometimes TOO much information can hinder the story telling, I still think the series are a good read. If you don't agree or don't like the information, again, ignore it...Personally, I think she did the right thing in not outting him in the book.

And there is my 2 cents on the subject. :) Sorry if it's a bit long.

Questions about HP and the DH...

*SPOILER ALERT*
DO NOT continue if you have not finished book 7 or do not wish to know what happens in book 7.

I'm re-reading the books so I'm posting as the questions comes to me.  This post will be updated every so often. :)

Question 1:
- "The Trace" isn't singled out to one person, it can't be or else Harry shouldn't have gotten a letter when DOBBY did magic in book 2.
- Still on "the trace" .. how come Harry didn't get a second letter for once again "doing magic" when the Order went to get him in book 6? (Disillusionment charm)
- They had already done magic at 4 Privet Drive in the backyard when they removed the Disillusionment charm.
Question: If Mad-Eye got away with doing and removing the Disillusionment Charm AT Privet Drive, WHY didn't they use it to leave Privet Drive in DH?
