3 Months Later....

Well, here it is June and I haven't added a thing to this blog since March! Let's see...since the last entry:

-We have moved house...out to the country for the summer and then we're looking for a place again.

-I sort of have a job again, working with a brain-injured man doing community activities.

-One of the three bands is still alive and kicking, the other two seem to be in limbo for the moment.

-We bought an old Volvo station wagon ('87 model). It's a nice car but uses a whole lot of gas, and at around 5 bucks a gallon this is not a good thing. For those of you in the States, we pay for our gas per litre, not per gallon, so you have to do all sorts of arcane calculations to figure out what you're paying for a gallon. That's why I said "around 5 bucks"...didn't want to spend an hour doing the math!

And that's pretty much it for now. Cheers!

What? It's March Already?

Time flies even when you're bored at my age. I really have nothing too new to report. Still looking for suitable employment, still working on getting 2 of the 3 bands I'm currently in happening performancewise. Quizzes are going well so far this month, with a couple of top 3s in both the hourlies and the word wizard.

In other news....hey, wait, there IS no other news! Well, I guess that's it for this post, then.

News and other Horror Stories

Holy Moly! Had no idea it had been so long since I last posted!

Well, let's see...I got laid off last week, which is no fun but gives me more time to play trivia. Now if only I have enough money to keep paying for my Internet! Am currently looking for a new job, but here on Vancouver Island there's not all that much work, so I may have to find something I can do as self-employment.

My daughter and her husband have moved back to Alberta. There's far more work there for them and all her friends are there. They now live in Edmonton with friends, and will hopefully get their own place soon. They both already have found jobs, which is great. I do miss her being around to go for coffee with, though.

I'm now playing in 2 new bands as well as the 2 I was in before, so some cash is coming in that way. Unfortunately, it doesn't even come close to what I was making at work.

Will try to do better than 3 months from now for my nest post!

News

Back again! News from the home front...

I'm in a new players' group...Worldwide Wizards, formerly Sportsman. There were just too many of us, (myself included) who were really not good at sports trivia, so a decision was made to change the name to better reflect both the international flavour of the group and the fact that there are some pretty hot players therein. We have 38 members so far, and are hoping both that lots of the Sportsman group will join and that other players from all over will join us.

Haven't been playing the gameshow as much, as I just started a new job which is a split shift, so during peak playing hours I'm usually working.

The kids will soon be home, one from Alberta and the other from France where she's been an au pair for the past year and a month or so. Can't wait to see them both!

My oldest daughter (oblyvia from BC Players) is thinking of moving to Edmonton, so she'll have to change groups...well, really she wouldn't, I guess, since she's still a BC girl at heart!

That is all for now.

At Long Last..

Well, folks, here I am again at last. Have been playing the gameshow a lot recently, and doing pretty well at it. It's fun, but can be very time-consuming, as my wife can and will attest.

I'm pretty worried about the situation in the Middle East. It's a horrible feeling, being unable to change anything in a situation you can see going down the tubes in a hurry. It also makes me angry at those on both sides who would use religion to justify killing innocent people. Ah, well, we can't change what is, just hopefully learn from it.
