"Sometimes you have to stand alone to prove that you can still stand." - Anonymous "Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self worth. Only you can be responsible for that. Accept who you are - completely; the good and the bad - and make changes as YOU see fit - not because you think someone else wants you to be different." – Stacey Charter

Chances

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who went to a carnival with her mother. The carnival was a magical place with rides and games. There was one game there that interested the little girl particularly. It was a game of chance with the greatest prize she could ever hope to have, guaranteed to give her everlasting happiness. The little girl figured she had enough money to play the game three times. She took a deep breathe and placed her bet on the number 24 as it was a number that she had felt was a friend for many a years and a great deal of comfort to her. It seemed that the wheel kept on spinning and spinning, but finally it stopped and she realized she had lost. For her next turn, she decided to be a little wild and chose the craziest number she could think of. She figured maybe the key to winning this prize was to unlock her secret emotions and take a risk. This time the wheel only spun a short amount of time before it stopped, with the little girl losing again. The girl's mother, realizing that her daughter was almost out of money, asked her to go about her next choice in a different way from the previous or not try at all. The little girl felt like she had to listen to her mother as her mother had given her the money but really wanted to try again. She decided to save her last bit of money and go see what else the carnival had to offer her. Her mother decided she could trust her daughter so she went off on her own. While the little girl was walking along, she came across a similar game with the same prize. This game looked like it was more dependable than the previous two. It was older and the wheel looked more solid. It looked much fairer and kinder to her. The girl was so torn between risking it all or keeping her promise to her mother. She really wanted that prize and she knew if she actually won it this time, her mother would be happy for her in the long run but if she lost again, her mother would be let down by her.

This story is metaphorical if you can't tell and the little girl really has no idea what to do. What would you do if you were her?

Koty's 3rd birthday party

Today was Koty's third birthday party. It was a My Little Pony themed party. She was very excited this past week awaiting for this day to come. I invited about 8 kids and their parents because I wanted her to have a good time without being too overwhelmed. The party was successful and mostly everyone showed up. Koty had a lot of fun playing with all of the kids. She had one moment of not sharing, which is expected because she's spoiled and an only child but other than that, she was as good as gold and made me a proud mommy. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the kids played so nice together even though they were all different ages. Koty made out like a bandit with presents and now, I don't know where to put them all. Last year, we had her party at Chuck E. Cheese and I think it was less stressful doing it that way but we wanted to invite more people this year, so the house it was. Well, I am kind of tired so I will just post a link to pics so you can all pretend you were there. Bye!

Another quiz for you all to play and rate

I realize that I am endorsing myself but my newest quiz is online and I would really appreciate it if my fellow bloggers would take it and rate it. I wrote it because I wanted to celebrate my daughter's birthday a little early. I have hopes that one day, she will come online and take this quiz if the site is still around. I got lucky again and only had one minor error. The editor was super quick and put it online in one day. Thanks Bloomsby!

Also, I try to play my fellow writers quizzes whenever I see one so if you are in need of one more rating in order for a quiz to be ranked, let me know and I will take it for you.

Nursing school update

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got into the school that I wanted to. I was very nervous when the letter came because I thought it was bad news. The envelope was so thin and I had heard before that a thin envelope means bad news. When I did work up the nerve to open it, good news awaited me and I am now a member of the AMH DSON class of 2011. I want to thank those of you who wished me luck and offered encouragement and support. Your kind words have really meant a lot to me.
