Men fight for freedom, then they begin to accumulate laws to take it away from themselves. Now if women did the fighting - they would make laws to stop the men!

Yes!

I believe The Child Sloth is cured! *tumultuous cheers*

I've been a little cautious about actually saying 'cured' - but she went to dinner and partied, albeit a little gently, on Saturday night and walked halfway round Sydney in high heels in order to do so, AND ate pizza and bruschetta for dinner AND was well on Sunday apart from a few nasty tweaks from her op - BUT no other pain! :)

Rested a lot yesterday, mainly in the afternoon and had to lie down but as this afternoon is a week since the operation - she is doing very nicely!

Thanks for all the good wishes!

The Child Sloth says it's a nice feeling to know 'people all over the world' (Thanks Mum! ) - are wishing her well. :)

The Tunnel Ends

Well, the Child Sloth is home from hospital, minus her appendix.
She's quite  lot sorer (is there such a word?) than she anticipated but only from the operation - the dull ache is gone and she is eating Without Pain! :)
The Specialist Surgeon was pleased with her progress when he saw her this morning before discharge and wants to see her in a month's time.

The anaesthetist was shocked when she realised how light The Child Sloth was and recommended steak 3 times a day for two months!

I must admit her colour has improved dramatically, allowing for her natural paleness.
Her clothes don't fit, more like 'hang' as she's lost over 10 kilos. For someone who is five feet three inches - and a bit - 49.5 kilos is way too light!

Now she wants to be well for a birthday dinner party for a school friend on Saturday Night at Darling Harbour. Her friend Christine has the Best Parties and as the girls don't see each other  face to face very often she Really Wants to be there.

Steve and I could do with a night out - we have friends we need to catch up with too.
I think a trip to Sydney on Saturday night is a wonderful idea ...along with a small shopping trip on Saturday morning for something pretty in a size 8,  to wear to a birthday party :)

Counting Down

At 2pm Yesterday The Child Sloth visited our GP.
By 5pm she was on her way to Another Private Hospital to see a Specialist Surgeon and would call later.
By 8pm when we saw her at home she had been referred for surgery as the SS considered her appendix was definitely the problem, due the prolonged period of pain.
After much to-ing and fro-ing last night over possible options due to cost (her insurance won't cover this item as is pre-existing but we would cover the expenses anyway!) - she went to our local (public) hospital this morning as the SS requested, as he was on call.

Long story short - she was misdirected by the reception staff and Should have been operated on today, sometime.
As a result of the admin error at the hospital this morning, and much shuffling by the staff for the SS -  Sometime on Monday, her appendix will be removed.

I really hope this stops her pain and she's a little worried there might still be some issue. She's had enough health issues this year to last forever!

Monthly Round Up.

The Child Sloth - So far - no change!
She still has pain and is learning to eat small amounts, and often.
Nothing has shown up as a problem. Next appointment with the Nice Lady Specialist is in 4 weeks.

Makes it difficult for the poor kid - she worked for the last three days, (she works contract and on call), came home about 5pm yesterday and lay down for a rest...and woke up at 8am this morning!
Felt a lot better for the long sleep. Fatigue is a problem, mainly because she's eating very little!

On the upside, she had a final check up with the skin specialist and has the all clear for the fungal / bacterial problem on her leg and doesn't need to take the Really Expensive Anti-Fungal Tablets any more! Yay!

My Pet Nerd - Is enjoying work.
Has a girlfriend who I  Have met but at present he isn't sharing.
He is enjoying having a car to drive (my 'old Celica') instead of just the ute and has taken out a gym membership to see if he can build some muscle.
He probably Will build some muscle but not bulk up very much because he's so lean.
He is at present waiting on biopsy results after a visit to a skin specialist for 'a check up'!
My family is very fair so we tend to check regularly.

Steve and I - we had a week away at Fingal Bay last week which was lovely - in spite of two dust storms - one mid week, which was a cracker and a smaller one on Saturday.
I don't remember having a big dust storm this close to the coast before.
Covered everything in a talc type red dust, what we call bull dust. Shocking stuff, gets into Everything.
We came home to a garden with a red tinge and a newly painted house! lol
The kids decided to paint the house And cleared and oiled the verandah as well and did quite a good job! :)

However - I had a meltdown when we came back - a usual occurrence after we've been away for a few days.
Makes it Very hard on everyone that I Need To Move House! The freeway noise is too much.
Soundproofing the house has helped a lot but as soon as I step outside.......

Hopefully we will have our traditional wet October Long Weekend and I can start gardening.
With my MP3 glued to my favourite music to counteract the 'white noise' from the traffic.
Usually works a treat - Maybe I should get some extra batteries and if it's too wet, there's always the coffee shop and a book! :)

Wandering the Medical Jungle

Well The Child Sloth visited the Nice Lady Specialist and was today booked in for an exploratory laparoscopy - double procedure.
Now the specialist Did tell her last week that often there is unexplainable pain and Sometimes removal of the appendix solves this but that was a last resort as far as she was concerned.

Which means that The Child Sloth and Steve left at 8am this morning and headed to The Nice Lady Specialist's rooms and 5 hours later she came home via  Medical Centre for some additional pathology - 6 vials of whole blood.

And the exploratory laparoscopy - double procedure interim result?
They found.......Nothing!

On the 26th November The Child Sloth is due in New Zealand for a friend's wedding, surely that's enough time for Nothing to fix itself?

I hope so, and maybe if we all hope Really Hard nothing will go away!
