Another Minority Government

The Canadian public has spoken very clearly and as a result we have another minority. Clearly 3 minorities in the past 3 elections states that the people of this great nation don't like or trust the various party platforms.  Bravo Canada, living in a free and democratic nation we have spoken very loudly.  Hopefully they will work hard (elected rep's) and make this minority work in favor of us, the PEOPLE!

Canda's Ongoing commitment to the war in Afghanist

Foreign Policy (Afghanistan)

After a decade of neglect and cutbacks… our military…a totally professional military…The Canadian Forces…as a direct result of 9/11... was sent by the governing party of the day (the Liberals)… under the leadership of Jean Chretien… to the troubled country of… Afghanistan…in support of… the U.S.A. Furthermore the Liberals (2005) under Paul Martin agreed to reposition our troops to the much more volatile and dangerous province of Afghanistan, Kandahar. After forming an Alliance, the Liberals and Conservatives this past March extended Canada’s commitment to the mission in Kandahar. With the number of dead Canadians; soldiers 97, 1 diplomat and 2 aid workers and public opinion against the war, it was known this issue would surface in the campaign. This can only hurt the moral of our troops on the ground which will only benefit the enemy. Can you believe the Liberals began playing politics… threatening they would not support the government in its attempt to extend Canada’s commitment? At least Jack Layton and the NDP have said all along they were committed to a pull out and an end to all combat by our forces. Don’t buy into this BS. Canada cant withdraw from Afghanistan before 2011. And don’t be surprised if this issue is debated again before the current mandate is up. Its something like Obama promising to pull out of Iraq, crazy. I agree that it’s a shame to see so many lives coming to an end over there, but we are now committed to this fight and I truly want to see that region of the world prosper and to not fall back to the Taliban. I know the conspiracy theorists are just waiting to jump on me for this but the images and sights of 9/11 are just to disturbing to phantom ever happening again in this part of the world. That is why I question the Liberals and NDP foreign policy… that is why I question Dion’s and Layton’s leadership… and these are just two major questions I will ask myself on Oct. 14th.

Cito Gaston's return to the Jay's

This move was a very big surprize.  Not that John Gibbions got fired but the fact the Jay's replaced him with Cito.  I can only say that this move wasn't only about winning but more about bringing people in Toronto back to the park.  Back in the early 90's when the Jay's won they're back to back world series they were leading the league in attendence and Cito was the man then.  Since, most weeknights they have less then 20,000 fans, but that could all change if the team could compete with them Yanks and Sox, and maybe Cito is the man to lead this team to a AL East Pennant.  After 6 games since the big move the Jay's are .500 and the bats do seem to have come alive.  Rios, Wells, Overbay, and Rolan all seem to be swinging much better and getting bigger hits with men in scoring posistion.  As a lifelong Jay's fan, I can only believe that this move was the right one.  Goodluck Cito!!!!!

The 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs!!!!

OK, I gotta shake the cob webs and sleepy eyes off after last nights 4 overtime period marathon between Dallas and Sanjose.  What a performance between Turco and Nabokov.  If you enjoy good goaltending, last nights classic was full of game saving saves.

My Picks so far this year are terrible. None-the-less, I'm enjoying the Playoffs very much.  The hard hits, goaltending and even the referees have all been GREAT!!!!

The Semi's should be great match ups to watch!  The battle of PA!!!!  Every hockey fan in the state should be pumped to watch this one.  5 maybe 6 games is how long I'm preticting this series to go.  Of course Pittsburgh should win but how can anyone not give Philly any credit.  Its hard to believe that this Flyers team missed the playoffs last year and are in the semifinals this year.  Another example of how close the NHL is after the strike and salary cap. If only baseball could go to a salary cap, maybe my Bluejay's could compete against the likes of the Yankees and the Red Sox.  Way off topic, haha.

Detroit and Dallas.  I have to give the redwings credit were credit is due.  They have so much experience on thier team.  They didn't have the best overall regular season record for no reason.  And then you have the Stars.  At the beginning of the playoffs, you never heard any of the pros pick them to go all the way.  They have taken down both; the defending champs and this years favorite to win the cup, to earn their way into the Semi's. It seems to me that the Stars are destined to win the Stanley Cup!!!! Stars in 7.

The 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs!!!!

Ok, them Habs got lucky in the 1st round and lucky again last night.  What  a joke!!!!!  A riot after winning a 1st round series.  Only in Montreal!!!!!  And the sad thing is, they will probs win the stanley cup.  Montreal in 5, only because of philly's regular season record against the Habs.

Pittsburgh and New York should be a fun series to watch.  Hopefully Malone or Georges will hammer on Avery.  Pittsburgh with they're young guns, should come out on top in 6.

Detroit and Colarado, should be interesting.  Detroit has the experience but they are also very old.  The Av's, are grey in many areas also.  I'll go with the Redwings in 6, only because of the fact they were 1st overall during the reg season.

Dallas and San Jose, another interesting matchup.  I liked San Jose going into the playoffs but after the 1st round and the 7 game marathon against the Flames and the way in which the Stars took out the Ducks and also, the net minding of Marty Turco, i'll take the Stars in 6.
