First entry
Well, as you might guess from the subject that this is my first entry. So, what do I say?
I was reading the paper the other day when I read that most men in prison are educated poorly. Having been a teacher for 35 years it does not surprise me. The insinuation the writer was making was that if we improved the public school system enough these men would be better educated and therefore not in prison. I do not believe that their problem is a poor education. As a matter of fact, their problem was the cause of their poor education. There was little motivation to learn and lots of motivation for breaking the rules and disrupting the class. In my experienced opinion, we need to work on improving student behavior or remove the disruptor from the class.
Where do we put them? I am not sure, but I am sure they have no right to tie up the teacher's time with misbehavior and keep the teacher from working with the students who want to learn.
