Big Weekend...

Kentucky Derby- I have Scat Daddy winning, if not him then another Tom Pletcher (sp?) trained horse. I think Tiego is trained by him. Tiego is also the half-brother of Giacomo.

Now, for the match that will save boxing:
Mayweather vs. De La Hoya

I love my boy De la Hoya, but you got to figure Mayweather is gonna do extremeley well. I still  think that De la Hoya will pull through and win.

DODGERS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUSSELL MARTIN WALK-OFF GRAND SLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHOOOOOOOO....

I had one of those feelings when he came up, considering that he was hitting .585 against lefties. But then Tracy brought in the righty, so I wasn't as sure. Then, Tracy pulled the shift, having 5 infielders and 2 outfielders...

And I was having a "Nomar for MVP" sign. I was wrong....

But also, good job by the Dodgers to fight back and not lose it when down. This team is going places in the postseason. No weaknesses in their lineup at all. Great, as in the Dodger tradition, fundamentals. With the exception of one bunt in the bottom of the ninth (didn't harm them).

Jackie Robinson Day...

I went to the Jackie Robinson Game at Dodger Stadium in the greatest section in the stadium. Quick Recap: Vin Scully got more of a standing ovation than Jackie's widow (It seemed to me at least); I don't know if it was heard on tv, but when Hank Aaron threw the first pitch the stadium chanted "Barry Sucks", and the biggest applause of anyone being honored that day (there was Ernie Banks, Frank Robinson, other legends), and with those statements he made about Bonds he's earned himself a honor in Dodger fandom; Jose Cruz Jr. got verbally abused throughout the entire game which leads me to my next point:

No team, other than the Giants, have I seen receive so much hatred at Dodger stadium. I'm telling, its well on its way to become bigger than Dodgers-Giants, a few more memorable moments, and a fight or two and its there. But it seems to me that the Dodger players care more about beating the Padres than the Giants, I think its even among the fans.

Oh, and Greg Maddux was a [expletive] at BP.

Not inactive anymore...

Not So Breaking News: Red Auerbach is Dead...

A great man for the game of basketball. A legend really, its a sad day.

Also, Joe Niekro died yesterday as well. An underrated pitcher, most remembered for the nail file in his back pocket.

Two sad deaths.

BREAKING NEWS: Buck O'Neil is Dead

At the age of 94.

For those of you who don't know him he was a great Negro league player, a great baseball player, broke many color barriers and built bridges against hate and discrimination. He was the Tommy Lasorda of Negro League baseball if you want to put it that way. Many consider it was an injustice that he missed by just one vote, being inducted into the Hall of Fame, and now he is dead at the age of 94.

Rest in Peace good buddy.
