I'd forgotten I had this here bloggy thing.  I'm on a bit of a high tonight so I thought I'd post.

 

We've been beavering away at the fundraising and it has gone very well so far.  We held a quiz night tonight and we weren't getting much interest.  I was even considering calling the whole thing off at the beginning of the week.  It was only a small venue and I was really frustrated that I couldn't fill it, despite loads of advertising and driving my colleagues mad by nagging them to attend.

 

I'd put adverts in the local papers last week and this week, but had no response until this afternoon when a couple more people booked tables.  Then some of the people who'd put themselves down for two or three places turned up with full teams of six - in the end we were full to bursting.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we raised nearly £300.00 in total.  We'd already sold loads of raffle tickets at work this week and raised £250.00, so it's been a very good week.

 

We can ease up on the fundraising now and step up the actual physical training for our trek.   I don't mind younger people being faster than me or having more stamina but  I live in fear of being shown up by a bunch of OAP's!

This is my first real blog entry, and I'm after something already!

 

In a fit of madness, I've signed up to do a sponsored charity trek in Iceland next year.  I need to raise a total of £1850.00.  I'm doing a monthly donation from my salary via Gift Aid, which will be double matched by my employers.  This will take care of the costs of the trek, so every penny received in donations will go to my chosen charity, Havens Hospices.

 

I'm also selling a charity quiz for a minimum £1.00 donation.  Terry has very kindly agreed to let me advertise the fact here.  The quiz takes the format of initials of films - ie LOTR, GWTW - you have to provide the full title of the film.  There are over 200 questions so it should keep you busy on the long winter evenings.  First prize is £70.00 worth of Tesco Clubcard Deals Vouchers, second prize £30.00 worth of the same.  These can be exchanged for meals out at various restaurants, travel, hotels, theme parks and other days out - visit  http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/ for an up to date list of offers.  The closing date is 31st January 2007 and the first two correct entries drawn after that time will receive the prizes.
