What was the significant drawback with Levi Hutchin's 1787 alarm clock?

Considered to be the first American alarm clock Levi Hutchins' invention did have a significant drawback. The clock was set permanently for 4 am as Levi was an early riser! The clock could not be turned off nor could the time be adjusted! So the alarm clock would go off at 4 am every day including any days off!
