The Hawaiian Language has the shortest alphabet in the world. There are only twelve letters -- less than half the number you must juggle in English. Five of these are the old familiar vowels: a, e, i, o, u . Seven are consonants: h, k, l, m, n, p, w .

The Hawaiian language was an oral tradition. The Hawaiian alphabet (piapa), was written by 19th century missionaries. The alphabet contains 12 letters: 5 vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and 7 consonants (h, k, l, m, n, p, w).

It is 13 if you count the "glottal stop" letter
The Hawaiian alphabet has 13 letters: five vowels (long and short) and eight consonants, one of them being the 'okina, a letter which represents the glottal stop.
