Subject: **The FunTrivia Collection**

Every once in a while, here in the Author Lounge, we have some ambitious projects that stretch the limits and capabilities of our quiz-writers in ways that haven't been done. We've put our authors through Races, Gauntlets, Commissions, and Challenges of all sorts. Now it's time for us to create 'The Collection'.

The premise is simple: Create a collection of quizzes-- a capsule collection if you will-- that takes simple premises and executes them with diverse ideas, strong writing, and an eye for featured play. We want to create a set of quizzes that touch on trivia accessibly and with care. And we want to make it a big collection.

  • The Collection will consist of a number of rounds, one at a time, and each round will require that five quizzes be written.

  • Each round must feature five different authors, and those authors are not eligible to complete the proceeding round.

  • Only when all five quizzes are written and placed online will the subsequent round be posted.

  • All quizzes must be created on new templates and they can not count for other active challenges occurring in the Author Lounge unless otherwise specified.

This is a group effort-- we're all working together to make this collection work. Remember: the key to this one is accessibility. We're aiming to create quizzes that anyone can play!

    CHALLENGE #1
To kick things off, let’s start at the very beginning. For this challenge, authors must submit quizzes with titles that begin with the word ‘FIRST’ or contain the word ‘FIRSTS’. Someone’s gotta be the one to begin it all, right?

    Completed Quizzes:
    1. First, Second, Third, Fourth - Ilona_Ritter
    2. First, Identify the City - Upstart3
    3. First Steps to European History - JanIQ
    4. "First" In Songs - Ponycargirl
    5. On Friday the First of Summerfilth - Bernie73

    CHALLENGE #2
For this challenge, Geography is the aim of the game. We’re looking for five quizzes, and not only must each be about a different world city, but each of those cities must be on a different continent!

    Completed Quizzes:
    1. I Left My Heart And Photos In San Francisco - Stephgm67
    2. A Homage to Helsinki - LadyNym
    3. Baku: World City at the Continental Cross Roads - 1nn1
    4. Buenos Aires - A Fascinating City - Gispepfu
    5. A Slice of Heaven - Pollucci19

    CHALLENGE #3
Take care! In this challenge, we’re only looking for Adopted Quizzes! Claim any Adopted Quiz of your choosing, but you MUST change the quiz format from Multiple Choice to an alternative option (Photo, Match, Label, Order, or Classification) to suit your revisions.

    Completed Quizzes:
    1. Rulers of the Roman Empire - Kyleisalive
    2. Did You Eat your Veggies? - Leodavinci
    3. U.S. Historical April Events - BigTriviaDawg
    4. Show Tunes - Looney_Tunes
    5. These Things'll Kill You! - Rossian

    CHALLENGE #4
It’s all History, really! We’re looking for five different quizzes, all of which are placed online in the History category, and all of which focus on events in a different decade (ie. you can write on 1950s History or 2010s History, etc. etc.).

    Completed Quizzes:
    1. Events of the Nineties - Gispepfu
    2. The Final Countdown - Bernie73
    3. Ten Major Events from 1950-1959 - Ilona_Ritter
  • 4. Snapshots in Time: 2023 - Trident

For this one I would recommend trying to spread out over the decade, but based on the prompt, you would be able to get away with several events in the same year as they pertain to that particular decade. Might just look weird up against several quizzes covering ten years instead of just one (and be a bit more niche). Goal here is to generate quizzes that are, by and large, more accessible. :)

I just happen to be writing a History quiz focused on events of the '90s decade. Is it elligible for this challenge if it goes online?

Seeing as I packed my notebook with all my quizzes I wrote during quiz writing month those are on hold until the move, so I am doing a quiz on the 1950s.

    Nice!

This also means that the 1990s are blocked out for anyone else contributing to this challenge. Plenty of other decades to choose from. ;)

Actually due to it being so late in the month, I will have to submit my other quiz to get the frame for my art work first, so I will do that then this will be next.

I have a question about the current challenge here. For example, I am thinking of writing a quiz solely about WWII. Does that work here, or do I have to make it focus on all events in the 1940s?

Needs to be solely about the decade, per the challenge prompt.

Another player who is excited to see the next challenge asked if I could possibly write something for this, so I am looking to see what I can do. Perhaps the 1970s, or something.

Per the rules of the Collection, unless specified by the provided challenge, "all quizzes must be created on new templates and they can not count for other active challenges occurring in the Author Lounge unless otherwise specified."

Since this was also claimed for 'A Nameless Challenge', I've removed it from eligibility here.

There are two slots still available for Challenge #4.

    Can you please specify this?

((must be created on new templates))

Does this mean no adopted or renovated quizzes? Or does it mean the quizzes must be created and written with this challenge in mind and not just an old quiz that qualifies?

    Thank you!

Unless specified that they be used.

The vast vast majority of cases should not use renovated quizzes for this unless someone is distressingly lucky or reaching extremely hard to gut their original quiz just to make it work here. At that point they might as well write a new quiz.

The same kind of goes for adoptions. A large amount of quizzes up for adoption are on very niche topics, and the challenges here touch on some much more general ones, but with specific requirements. I would recommend not trying to do the ‘two birds with one stone’ route as often it makes a much more contrived quiz that might loosely fit the brief but come across like it’s trying to do way too much.

Thank you, Kyle. I noted that Gispepfu's quiz for challenge #4 is an adopted one, so I was a little confused. I going to try to write something to get the challenge going, even though history by decade isn't my specialty, so wish me luck.

More concerning to me is the doubling up with other challenges as the aim is to build out a scavenger, down the line, that does not overlap with other scavengers derived from Lounge Challenges.

    Kyle,

As this is taking forever as it is to goo from one to the next I was wondering if you might be willing to change the rules ever so slightly and not make us skip every other challenge so that maybe it might not take quite as long as it is already taking?
